  1. RM, VB, FF - they're all cut from the same cloth. Right wing extreme forums which house many views I wouldn't expect from decent minded people. I can't speak for VB and FF, but RM didn't use to be this way. It's taken a murky path.

It's indistinguishable from FF. In fact it has most of the same posters and patter now. They really do not like the truth

  2. I think gaz has a bit of a point - Bale is overrated. For example on Sky, they were saying when Van Der Vaart was fit and possibly the best player in England, that Bale was their best player. Van Der Vaart is twice the player Bale is and as good as anyone on his day.

BUT Bale is phenominally talented. He's a bloody frustrating player for the fantasy football league - he'll go several games anonymous, so you remove him, then he absolutely destroys someone and gets about 30 points!

  3. A lot of nonsense in this topic. Any team top of the French league at this stage clearly has plenty quality, their past lack of success is irrelevant. PSV have performed very well this season and are a totally different club to Sporting who are in turmoil.

  4. PSV are miles better than Sporting. Sporting are horrendous.

PSV are top of their league with only 3 defeats this season. They won comfortably against Lille last night who are top of the French league.

PSV also beat Sampdoria away from home.

  5. Would like to see him as a first team coach next season because I think with his American training he has a sporting and conditioning knowledge that we lack at the club. I also think he would make a good manager, though it is hard to judge that. I would happily see him having involvement on the touchline next season, he would be able to provide tactical insight at least defensively.

He has done great for us but I also don't think he should not play in any more important matches because he's a poor defender now and a liabilty. He is almost 41 and has now completely lost all abilty, nothing wrong with that. What is wrong is Walter's insistence in picking him and setting his side out to accomodate him.

  6. Diouf is used to play in very organised and disciplined formations where generally he has a set role wide in a 4-5-1/4-3-3. At Ibrox he'll be everywhere in midfield and attack and be playing in 4-5-1/4-4-2/4-4-1-1/5-4-1 or whatever the hell our idiotic manager chooses on that particular day

  7. Something needs changed and if its the formation to see if gets a spark then give it a try. Either the Motherwell 6-0 was a one off or the OF defeat was a one off. But based on certain players performances it is more likely the 6-0 win was a one off.

We have plenty of strikers who are fresh and actually needing game time to get fully match fit - Diouf, Jelavic, Fleck, Healy and Lafferty so playing 2 upfront would make a bit of sense. At the back put Bartley next to Bougherra and we have 2 pacey centre halfs which mean we can move further up the park. Id even suggest moving Papac to centre half and using Foster at full back as its a fact that Weir just isnt going to gain 3 yards of pace between now and May. The best we can hope from Weir is to have a week or 2 off and be used in home games against the poorer SPL sides.

When is Broadfoot back anyway? Cant believe that we have missed him!

How can the Celtic game be a won off, it was a continuation more than anything. The 6-0 win to Motherwell just shows how rancid they are

  8. EHD brought nothing to the game on Sunday. To often he was shoved off the ball to that wee rat Brown. He was more interested in moaning, whinging and flapping his arms about than actually doing anything productive!

What do you expect? He probably doesn't have a clue what position he's meant to be playing. Walter will turn him into a Christian Daily at the other end of the park where he'll try very hard and end up all over the place

  9. It's so unusual for you to go on a wee rant like this. Never seen it coming. :)

PS The warning was to both of you for insulting calscot - see Frankie's point of order thread. It wasn't a big deal till you (uncharacteristically, it has to be said) made it one. ;)

Calscot is a bloody idiot though so whats the problem

  10. With the money we've spent in the last couple of years, along with the sales and clearouts, I can't see how we could have significantly increased the quality or quantity.

Blind Bob with a handful of pennis could build a greater quality Rangers side than the garbage we have seen of late. Rangers look no better than a mid table SPL club at the moment, if that.

  11. I don't think that's true as he'd simply do what he did against Lisbon and push Whittaker into wide midfield.

Moreover, the players have already indicated they're as much to blame as anyone for sitting too deep.

I think this is more with regard to typical SPL matches where in a 4-4-2 we play more balanced against most teams.

There isn't a problem as such with Whittaker in wide midfield if there's a winger on the other flank, well of course other than the fact Whittaker is becoming increasingly poor.

  12. Basically the post said that we have to play 4-4-2 simply because Walter is too negative a manager to make 4-5-1/4-3-3 work. This hits the nail on the head and I now think I will stop hoping we play such a formation.

Whilst 4-5-1/4-3-3 is the current formation of choice and the future of world football, Walter can't play it and with a 4-4-2 he's forced to play in a more balanced manner.
