  1. The main things the 9 in a row players keep going on about is commitment and tackling. Little mention is made of the most important factor that we lack - technique/creativity. While we lack passion, tackling harder wouldn't have got us much further in Europe. The 9 in a row team aren't exactly experts on European performances either. All the criticism is valid but I just think its a typical old Scottish/British mentality to think the problems are all down to effort/aggression.
  2. We have fuck all chance of winning this pointless match. We can still win a league and therefore shouldn't be risking first team players.
  3. This the same young Italian who didn't make much of an impact and was played at right back by Smith? Very debatable whether Gattuso was a superior player at that point, totally different players as well. Gattuso said himself that Ferguson had more talent than him, technically at least. Also Cannavaro captained Italy to the world cup.
  4. Side point - Its not fight we lack first and foremost, its organisation and creativity. A team of passers will always beat a team of hammer throwers. Scottish sides are constantly shown up in Europe when they find that brain beats brawn. A player like Steven Naismith could easily cause damage against a side like Aberdeen in his proper position but will look inept in the middle of the park in an alien position.
  5. How is speaking out against specific journalists wrong? They say what the feck they want about us and the club does nothing so somebody should say something.
  6. There's no club on the planet where youth shouldn't be of the very highest importance. Our finances have been a mess for yonks as well and it was quite clear long ago we needed to improve our youth development. One of the biggest criticisms of the Murray era (it's an exhaustive list) is the fact that the club still has an archaic infrastructure with a terrible scouting network and poor youth development. Advocaat identified 10 years ago that our youth system needed radical change and that it was the way forward.
  7. Nail on head. The only reason Smith's giving youth a shot this year is because he's been forced to. Let's not forget that he almost drove a young Barry Ferguson out of Ibrox until Advocaat came in and spotted the potential.
  8. Or better still, stop playing them completely out of position and put them where they should be. We have many players at the moment who are not performing but its in the wrong position so its hard to judge if it's really their fault.
  9. Very true but to flip the argument, you only get so far with a team of triers. If Broadfoot was in the minority of players at the club who have little footballing talent then your point would ring true but sadly this is not the case. All sides have the odd 'plodder' but we have a squad packed full of them.
  10. My points are concise and convey my message clearly. Just because I don't repeat myself 900 times in every post it doesn't mean I don't get my point across articulately. What I have said regarding McMillan is quite clear. Regarding gambling on youngsters, I'd sooner we gambled on players like McMillan than played players like McCulloch and Daily (I know he's gone now). There has been plenty occasions in recent seasons where games have been meaningless or seasons have been over yet we've still not tried anything new. The league cup for example would be a perfect time to play as many youngsters as possible. Playing a full strength side away to Queen of the South is just pointless.
  11. OK to put it simply, the bank currently exert far more influence on the club than they should be doing.
  12. calscot is starting to take over Super_Ally's 'Head in the Sand Champion of gersnet' crown.
  13. Unlike Adam, Fleck will come good IMO. Fleck is a victim of constantly being played out of position and being shuffled around the pack. He also seems to get introduced at the wrong time. Instead of slowly being introduced against weaker teams and as a substitute, he tends to just appear from nowhere in often important matches and gets hung out to dry. One of his first ever appearances was randomly thrown on against Celtic.
  14. You're good at completely misinterpreting posts. I said had he got more first team experience his potential might have been built on. Nowhere did I say he was ever destined to be a great player.
  15. 16-18 qualifies rising star. At 21 and nowhere near the first team, his ship has sailed. He's the type of player who looked very promising at a young age but will probably continue his career at a fairly mediocre level in the SPL or lower English divisions. If he'd been introduced to the first team when he showed his promise, his potential might have been built on.
  16. No players purchased in 18 months, a bank representative at board level etc suggest otherwise. While the timing of the announcement no doubt deflected some of the Unirea criticism, it isn't a comment without foundation. And Lloyds aren't going to come out and say 'yes, we're running Rangers'. What companies say and what they do are two different entities. Rangers are a mess at every level off the field and on it.
  17. When you see all this infighting and misinformation you can see why RFC will probably never have any fan participation at board level. Personally speaking, the only fan participation I'd really want is the ability to elect presidents/leaders so we don't end up with another 15 years of tyranny. But when you come across fans still pro-Murray you wonder if that's even a good idea. Your typical football fan knows fuck all about running a football club or business though and that is the extent I'd want. I don't really care who runs our club or who they support as long as we become an efficient club and get a good side again. I'd gladly take a random Russian or Arab with money to burn (not going to happen).
  18. Did someone in the RST hump your bird or something MF?
  19. I have no connection to the trust :fish:
  20. You appear to know what you're talking about so don't worry !
  21. When Italy win trophies they do so with impecable organisation and creativity on the break. We on the other hand are a disorganised cluster of pish. You keep making the same points without listening to any of my logic. I'm not just talking about style, I'm simply talking about being good. There's no getting through to some morons. Again you talk about his domestic performance as a measure of success. YOU CANNOT DO THAT WITH HOW PISH CELTIC HAVE BECOME.
  22. As a sidepoint if the RST voiced the opinion of the typical Rangers fan they'd probably be content with the pish state we find ourselves in. There's educated people on here who don't have a clue, never mind the typical Ibrox punter.
  23. Does this mean you've got the RST out of your system now and you won't keep bitching about them in every post you make?
  24. Kirk Broadfoot is a mediocre footballer but better than some of our other players. C'est la vie.
