    Optimism

The only optimism I have is hoping we have new owners and management ASAP
  2. What's the point of any supporters club/trust in that case?
  3. With regard to what have the RST actually done, what should they have done? RFC are run pretty much like a fascist dictatorship with one man who is accountable to nobody. What can the RST do other than make speaches or demonstrations?
  4. People have good reason to think the very worst of anything he says or does.
  5. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Boo after a few minutes when not watching 1970 Brazil? What an idiot you are. You're sarcastic point would make sense if during Walter's tenure we have ever for a considerable period produced any sort of remotely attractive or entertaining football. Christ even sides like Falkirk have often given us a lesson in how to play the game ffs.
  6. When I think of any footballer, I can always picture them on the ball and the style they have. No matter how bad or good. With McCulloch, I honestly just can't conjure up any image whatsoever. I kid you not, unless he scores or makes an error in defence, I NEVER know he is playing.
  7. Lee McCulloch - Official RFC 'Spokesman of Shyte' and 'Hide and Seek Champion' (2007, 2008, 2009) I think he reserves all his energy on the park for speaking shite off it

Petrescu has managed a few clubs so bad example. Babbel isn't exactly firing all cylinders for Stuttgart either.
  9. I haven't seen you make one single worthy or intelligent point. People in glass houses. All you seem to do is bury your head in the sand and criticise anyone who criticises the club. Talk about irony. You represent the typical Rangers fan who thinks all is well in complete and utter ignorance and is scared to broach reality. Ps - With regard to what Walter's had to spend, he's spent a lot more than Dan Petrescu who embarrassed him.

The sad thing is the manager is one area where we should be prepared to spend quite significantly on, to get a decent candidate. The more we spend on a manager, the more money it will likely make us in the long term. A cheap option isn't going to solve anything. Management is one area where we should be prepared to go over budget. I'd certainly rather have an expensive manager in the dugout than dross like McCulloch, Miller, Lafferty etc. It's the same with The Scottish national side. They should be prepared to go a bit over budget on a manager because it will pay dividends should it work. Jim Jeffries or Jimmy Calderwood isn't going to turn Scotland around just like McCoist isn't going to turn Rangers around.

Ally McCoist in charge is a quite frightening prospect, on so many levels. He is the number 2 in a boring, failing regime. Top players rarely make great managers, particularly for their former clubs. Of course there's the exception eg Guardiola. He has no experience of management. We need someone with experience of managing decent sides. If McCoist is going to become a decent manager then he should start off at a smaller club. Then again, we're so gash under Smith at the moment that anything else is worth a go. Meh.
  12. No it wasn't 4-5-1 we started with. It was some sort of bizarre 3-4-3/5-3-2 formation with players all over the shop
  13. The general attitude by many on here seems to be we know we're crap and Walter's a very limited manager but Celtic are even worse and that will do for now. Well thats pathetic. We may as well roll over and die. We need to give someone else a try and if that doesn't work try again. No, the world's elite managers won't be chomping at the bit to manage us but there's still plenty decent coaches who would and who would be capable of getting us playing half decent football at least in the SPL. In Scotland we really are playing dreadful clubs week in week out and it wouldn't take Arsene Wenger to get us beating these sides with a bit of style. I could tolerate us being pish if we attempted to play half decent football and gave more youngsters a chance. With Walter the only way we're going is backwards.
  14. Green has been one of the best keepers in the premiership for the past few seasons. McGregor is a very inconsistent keeper playing in the SPL. It wasn't so long ago that I'd have rather had Alexander, a championship level goalie, as number 1. Both Boruc and McGregor seem to make a few good stops and suddenly everyone thinks they're world class. It's odd, Stefan Klos for several seasons was one of the most consistent keepers in Europe and rarely was he touted for big moves away from us. Klos was better than Boruc and McGregor put together.
  15. My thoughts on Walter Smith are summed up well by this Everton website, written a long time ago http://www.toffeeweb.com/club/managers/Smith.asp. Funny how history repeats itself.
  16. It's not a copout at all. Celtic are much, much worse.
  17. the early part of the 90's maybe but certainly not the later part where they had Di Canio etc. Tbh I think Celtic being so dire does us no favours in the long run. Smith has won 4 out of 6 trophies since coming back and that gives people a false sense of how good we are. If Celtic were a half decent side, Smith would be out of a job long ago. The way the SPL's going, there's going to be not one single team worth even entering the champions league.
  18. There's some articles where the heading alone tells you it's not worth reading

    3 at the back

Anyone who seriously thinks we should try 3 at the back must live in the 1980's because very few sides successfully implement it in modern day football. It completely leaves you exposed on the wings. there is a reason why 99% of teams play 4 at the back
  20. I forgot McCulloch was playing last night. Not joking either. Typical McCulloch in other words. He'd make a great ref because they say the best refs are the ones you never notice on the pitch.
  21. What in gods green earth sparked off this short lived experiment last night? Talk about digging out a formation as dead as the dodo. Just when I thought Walter couldn't fool me again with more tactical mishaps. We start off with 3 at the back, completely change things 10 minutes in, a minute later the defence are completely confused and concede goal. You couldn't make it up. WS's second stint is starting to become even more like Eck's later years day by day....
  22. We are competing against a Celtic side that's probably as bad as they've ever been.
  23. How are we really any better than Eck/PLG? If anything Celtic have just got worse. Even under Eck we probably wouldn't have got beaten 4-1 by Unirea. As I've said time and time again, since the end of 02/03 we've been terrible on the whole. Super Ally your optimism is all great and all but just makes you look ignorant tbh.
  24. Erm no, I think those of us with a modicum of sense know just how terrible the SPL is and has been for many seasons.
