I thought that Martin had already called out that Tav would remain skipper?

OFFICIAL Rangers appoint Russell Martin as head coach
West London Bear replied to compo's topic in Rangers Chat
I think the reaction from the support has been alarming, especially given the roaring horses arse that's been made over the last few years with our choices. Would I have wanted RM? Probably not. Would I have wanted Ancelotti? Definitely not. Would I have wanted Gerrard? Maybe. At the end of the day, that would appear to have been the choice. The fact that Gerrard appears to have pulled from the race suggests that there will not be the same power base with the manager that he enjoyed and maybe that didn't work for him. We have cried out for a manager that does not treat the likes of Dundee like Real Madrid and who wants to press his opponents hard. That seems to be RM's modus operandi. He could have his very own Mojo moment if he tans the filth in the first OF game. If we have a decent transfer window, this may well yet be a good season. Give him a chance FFS. I'd define his first seasons success requirements as a cup, a real title challenge and EL Groups (and last 16) at a minimum. -
Purdy replaces Koppen as technical director

The most H&H statement ever 😄 -
I'd suggest that whilst they can look at the comments Bomber made, it would then be incumbent on them to illustrate what was wrong in what he has said. There is nothing that the compliance officer can do without looking like another howling bead rattler.

EVERYONE at Rangers Football Club would like to pass on their heartfelt thanks to Barry Ferguson and his staff, with yesterday’s game at Hibernian being their final match in charge. Club legend Ferguson answered the call in the club’s hour of need back in February and has overseen several memorable moments during his time in charge, not least progression to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League and a terrific victory at Parkhead. A Hall of Fame member, Ferguson will now leave this role along with Neil McCann, Billy Dodds and Allan McGregor, with enormous gratitude and best wishes of everyone at Ibrox for their efforts in these last few months. CEO, Patrick Stewart, commented: “The club, and I am sure all our supporters, will be forever grateful to Barry for stepping up and taking on the role of head coach. “He and his staff have performed admirably amongst some trying circumstances and achieved some excellent results along the way. “Barry, Neil, Billy and Allan all had distinguished playing careers with Rangers, and they have all enhanced their standing with the club for their work since February. The reception they received at Ibrox on Wednesday night was fully merited, and I know meant so much to Barry and his team. “The search for our new head coach is progressing well, and we look forward to concluding our process in the coming period.” Outgoing Head Coach, Barry Ferguson, added: “I’ve already lived the dream as a player and as captain of Rangers, and to do so as Head Coach in these last three months has been an enormous honour for me. “There have been some ups and downs, but I have loved this experience and given it my all throughout. “I want to thank Neil, Billy and Allan, the three staff members who came in with me, and all the other staff who have supported me during my time in charge. Indeed from everyone at the training centre and at Ibrox, the backing I have received has been phenomenal. “Above all, I want to thank our supporters. There is no doubt this has been a difficult season, but the backing the team and I have continued to receive in spite of that has been incredible. “I have said, no matter how this period panned out, I would always remain a committed supporter of the club, and I look forward to remaining a Rangers ambassador. "I wish whomever becomes the new manager, every success in the job.” No huge surprise I know, but he did step up when asked and for that we should be grateful.

I agree, but as the team struggled you could sense that he got caught up in it and he seemed to become more a percentage player, which we can't carry. But I feel he is stepping up.

I agree that Raskin has been head and shoulders above most in the team for the majority of this season, but I have been really impressed with how Connor Barron has improved under Barry Ferguson. It was always clear that he had a wee something about him, but seemed to always take the safe back pass option when in possession. I have noticed from that number 6 position against the Dundee vermin and Hivs he was definitely looking at more forward runs and passes. Long way to go I know, but he's got a wee bit of Stuart McCall about him. Ferguson may not have faired too well managerially but both Raskin and Barron have thrived under his mentorship.

Might be overthinking it but that ref on Wednesday, Calum Scott. Has he been involved in any of our games before? He certainly ticked a lot of the boxes for the SPFL in that he was not looking like he wanted to give us anything - indeed it looked like he was almost forced to go to the monitor for the penalty.

There was always going to be a little bit of a conflict with Barry getting that gig, even for a few months. The fact that he been making noises about actually wanting the job means he was never told it could not be his. With that, he was never going to risk picking anything other than the team he hoped could win. This period should have been about getting a sense of who had the minerals to be kept, both youth and squad. That is not what we got.

The interesting thing for me is that I personally just found the display yet another fantastic effort by the UB's. The only time I feel they let themselves down is with the pyro when they know its going to bring problems. It was actually the club's statement that had me thinking. But as others have said and even evidenced. The filth have had far worse and far more offensive on display and on the only occasion I can recall where the police got involved, the evidence went missing. I'm not the biggest fan of Souness given how he left us, but then again I could take the positive from it and say that it gave us Sir Walter, however that image of him with the rifle is an absolute cracker and that Tifo was right on point (a bit more to the right would have been a bullseye). For those thinking that the prospective new owners are unaware of all of the rivalry and that this might backfire, I think you will find that due diligence would have highlighted this to them right up front and given that we have an attitude towards our own nation that is positive and upbeat, I hardly think that this would have made a ripple with them.

Poll: Who would you like to be the new manager?
West London Bear replied to Rousseau's topic in Rangers Chat
I actually hoped that we'd go for Muscat last time and was sort of gutted we didn't. I've gone for him. -
Sorry, I’ve reached page 3 and have a question that may well have been asked. Surely we know the banner content before it’s allowed in? Or am I being dense?

I know this will get shot down, but our best 11 beats their best 11 all day long right now. Our problem is that our best 11 is literally all we have, whereas they have a good core of 16 or more that have an argument about being in the best 11. We need a few more that challenge our 11. But more importantly, we need to beat the rest of the shite. Beating the filth is nice, but I’d accept the occasional slip up against them for more shiny things.

Has Barry shown enough to be considered new manager?
West London Bear replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I think the answer to that needs to be overlayed with the clubs longer term plans. If FFP or just general finances means we’re going to have a few lean years then we do need someone who can just fire up a dressing room and there was little doubt that as skipper, he did that. If however the club has a broader plan that involves an element of player investment, then we need someone who can lead that as that would not be something you’d want an inexperienced manager leading. But one thing is for sure, wee Barry should have a role on the coaching team going forward.
