  1. Finishing 2nd in the SPL is the absolute lowest position we should be finishing so to finish 2nd place is no huge achievement.

Exactly! The SPL is such a poor league, that finishing anywhere other than first,is an utter embarrassment.

  2. McCoist has accumulated 83 points despite the horrendous off field problems that obviously got to the players. That's 2 points below the average of the previous twelve years since the 12 team league began. People hark back to the Advocaat years but in his last three years he actually averaged 84 points with one season at 82. PLG supposedly needed and deserved more time but that season ended up with us having 72 points despite a strong second half from Walter. Alliy's beaten that even with a 10 point penalty!

However, you have to also give him mitigation - the 3 points from 12 in the 4 games right after going into administration was obviously an anomaly due to the exceptional circumstances and if you take the rest of our results for the season and extrapolate them, the expectation value would have been 9.4 points. Even at 9 that would put him at 89 points - well above average and better than some championship winning teams - DESPITE all the rest of the crap he and his squad had to deal with.

I can't see how anyone can slate McCoist's record in the league this season and although the cup runs were awful, you have to look at the circumstances.

I think Ally has categorically shown he's not a bad manager as his league record shows during the most trying season in our history. He hasn't shown he's great but he's eclipsed the likes of Dick, Eck and PLG who had a fraction of his troubles to face.

At the very least, he deserves to show what he can do in when the ship is steady. If a guy can be average in tough times, what will he be like when times are good?

Don't forget how we were dumped (humiliated)out of every competition we entered, under his command.

And also,do not forget that we play in the SPL a mickey mouse league, where you or I could have probably done just as well

with the players he had at his disposal.

  3. Will he be kept on as manager or will be walk away knowing he did his best and gave his all?

I don't think he's a great manager, or even or a good manager but his passion and motivation to do his best for Rangers is unquestionable.

The Rangers job came a bit early in his managerial career but you can't fault the guy for taking it. A wee stint away in League 1 in England would do him the world of good.

    Thoughts?

I'm with you, great asset somewhere in the club, but as manager? no thanks.

  4. I think Green has previous in terms of selling high value players.

This will be devastating, but probably for the best since we aren't in Europe.

If you listen to what Mr.Green stressed in his statement,"Europe is a must" the only way to make money.

If that's the case, then I very much doubt anyone (unless they want to) will be leaving the club.

  5. Spot on.

The Rangers support has had divides in all the years that I've been going. Where this idea of togetherness comes from, is a mystery.

How many years is that Casey? All I know for sure is, that back in the sixties we the fans, were absolutely on the same page.

I am pretty much convinced that the Internet(with rival Rangers web sites) is the thing that has split the unity.

  6. On top of that' date=' in their desire to besmirch the guys name, they use Ron Paul as an example of Millers right wing tendancies. Ron Paul is never a right winger in a million years[/quote']

Sorry to have to correct you Max but. Ron Paul 100% right of centre,as are all Republicans(conservatives)this side of the pond, and do tell

why is this a bad thing. All the Bears I have come into contact with over here, are predominately conservative.

I only wish you guys back home would follow suit, and take your country back.

  7. For the time being, I refrain from making any comment on the staff situation. We know next to nothing about Miller's plans and how he wants to tackle the wage and other bills. I do assume he will have enough companies and enough experience to know that there needs to be some "high earners" to get some quality of money.

    He's not even here yet.

According to this mornings Record,Miller has already quizzed McCoist about players he'd like to keep.If true, then maybe things

wont be nearly as bad as we are thinking.

  8. What you're saying is all these players will go, regardless of a newco or not. Because if we survive this and get a new owner, we have no Europe next season anyway, we have a transfer embargo, and we've been fined more money that we don't have.

What all of you seem to be saying, even if you don't realise it, is that newco or not, we're going to lose a lot of players and be at the mercy of the SPL/SFA.

So, given the above, frankly a newco is a no-brainer, and as I've been witteringly endlessly, let's do it in England.

For how many years have we been wanting some way,any way to GTF out of this Mickey Mouse league.

Now,with the situation we find ourselves in,if we survive we have to go somewhere.Question is 3rd. division SFL

or 2nd division England(if they will have us) As you say no brainer. Let's do it in England.

  9. I'm not sure why it all has to be done within a deadline? Although I slightly object to Ally suggesting liquidation is a possibility - what he said afterwards was more accurate, that we simply do not know.

Slightly object ? Somebody wants to gag him.We all love him and all that, but he's way too eager to get in front of the microphone, and TV cameras. He's got to learn how to pick his interview spots a lot better.I mean crying his heart out to Chic Young and the BBC.

Almost threw up listening to that one.

  10. I'm really pleased for Paul Murray and The Blue Knights assuming that they are indeed announced as the preferred bidders tomorrow, but I'm also slightly annoyed tonight.

Reading what people are posting online tonight it appears that there's a lot of fans who have taken in the spin and propaganda that's been widely spread online and in the mainstream media in recent weeks and months which has insinuated that TBK's = no liquidation. That is simply not true.

While I'm very happy tonight because I didn't like the sound of Bill Miller's plan one iota and hoped TBK's, Kennedy or Ng would step back in with a winning bid, I really hope that Paul Murray & TBK's are completely honest and up front with the fans because there's no way on this earth that they can guarantee NO liquidation of the club at this stage of the administration process (or in the coming seasons for that matter).

It's very unfair on the fans to mislead them. Spell it all out in black and white please so that fans aren't running around celebrating because they think The Blue Knights equals definitely no liquidation, when that's not the case.

If you want the fans to dig deep financially, the least you could do is be 100% honest and on the level with them. :tu:

The first bit of good news we have had in weeks, but as always negativity rears it's ugly head.

  11. Hi! guys,I just thought I'd give you a quick introduction.

I'm "the wasp" and I am a Canadian Bear.Born and bread in Glasgow, but spent the last

thirty odd years here in Alberta.I hope we can have some good banter, and share a few

laughs.I'm off to watch Blackburn kick the crap out off ManU,now (hopefully)

So I'll catch you all later.
