    Stein. Forrest.

    Subs butcher,papac,

Henderson macmillan millar brand and the best goal per game left winger in Rangers history Davy Wilson

  2. That the decision to get of him was hasty was further emphasised when he found a new lease of life at a good Aberdeen side as a fleet-footed right winger, supplying the likes of Joe Harper. Think Scot Symon was himself fired at the end of season 69?

Aye, Lawrence could build decent houses, but knew dick-all about running our club.Has Forrest and McLean fired, and guess who takes over the number nine shirt? his nephew Roger Hynd,go figure.

  3. The great thing was that Jim Forrest, along with a young fellow, called Alex Willoughby, came through the ranks of our club and made fine contributions. Over recent years, perhaps we have lost our expectancy of the young fellows making good in our first team and instead have developed a "who can we sign attitude." Jim Forrest was a smashing player and the decision to discard him was shameful.

Willoughby and Forrest were cousins,if I remember correctly.

  4. ,Being old. Enough to have watched every RAngers striker since Billy Simpson,l can tell you, although Colin Stein remains

my all- time favourite,Jim Forrest was easily by far the most prolific scorer.

we fact about Forrest and McLean being fired.Scot Symon was ordered by then owner John Lawrence to fire them.

  5. They'll sell a lot of bridies in forfar that day!

Went up there for the 1969/70 scottish cup tie. When our bus pulled into the parking lot,the local bakers vans were parked right in front of the turnstiles, the smell of the pies and bridies was brilliant, and tasted just as good.

We had a great day up there, the locals were really friendly, even after our 7-0 victory.:rfc:

Over 10,000 at the game that day,how many are allowed now-a-days?

  6. We have a history of shorter keepers(Peter Mcloy being the exception) George Niven,The Goalie,Klos and McGregor wasn't much taller. So,with me six foot is fine as long as he can stop the ball going in our net,he'll do for me.:basher:

  7. Mcoist is the one to take a long hard look in the mirror,It's his players, his team selection, and his tactics(or lack of should I say) As for inflated egos? I'd say the exact opposite is the case, these guys are playing without any confidense,

not sure of the role they have to play, hence the utter chaos on the field we are subjected to, week after week.

  8. Just watched Ally's press conference on Rangers T.V.

What's wrong with this pathetic wee man? Four five times he repeated himself.

"I'm not looking for an apology" then goes on to say, that what has happened to us

has put our club back years.Has he got something other than a spare microphone up

    his sleeve?

  9. Hi Guys

I have a wee favour to ask the knowledgable throng that is Gersnet. I work as an Illustrator/Designer and I am currently working on a football related project focusing on club greats/legends that I hope will be available online soon. The illustrations/prints will take the form of a grid stlye that depicts 28 greats from our history. (ie. 4 rows of 7 players making up the grid)

Anyway' date=' I'm in the process of editing the 28 names that could be regarded as Rangers legends/heroes/greats that will go onto this print and was wondering if anybody could comment on my list and maybe add any suggestions to help me get the definitive list. Here is my current list as it stands:

    1. Moses McNeil

    2. Alan Morton

    3. Bill Struth

    4. Davie Meiklejohn

    5. Bob McPhail

    6. George Young

    7. Jock Shaw

    8. Willie Waddell

    9. Eric Caldow

    10. John Greig

    11. Jim Baxter

    12. Scott Symon

    13. Davie Wilson

    14. Jimmy Millar

    15. Tommy McLean

    16. Alex McDonald

    17. Derek Johnstone

    18. Jock Wallace

    19. Davie Cooper

    20. Sandy Jardine

    21. Graeme Souness

    22. Ally McCoist

    23. Andy Goram

    24. Richard Gough

    25. Brian Laudrup

    26. Davie Weir

    27. Willie Henderson

    28. Walter Smith

Others I considered...Willie Woodburn, Ronnie McKinnon, Ralph Brand, Peter McCloy, Willie Mathieson, Paul Gascoine, Barry Ferguson, Ian Durrant. There are names that I may have overlooked but I need to stick to the 28 names

If this is not suitable for this forum please feel free to delete or move to another section. Thanks in advance, Max Rebo[/quote']

All great Rangers players, but in truth only a handful should be considered as true legends, and for an old Bear like myself,Colin Stein

would definitely be part of that handful.

  10. Not working his ticket just trying to prevaricate about the lack of quality in his team and decision-making.

He's right in that people perhaps expected to win every single game which was unlikely given the club's upheaval but he's wrong in suggesting we should not be doing a whole lot better.

Let's be honest here Frankie, the players he has at his disposal, should be romping through this league. It all comes down to management,

or lack of should I say.Not embarrassed about being beaten by a managerless team, say's it all really.

  11. Points accumulated by the last few league winners:

    Season

    12/13 - 77

    10/11 - 66

    09/10 - 78

    08/09 - 67

    07/08 - 88

    06/07 - 75

    05/06 - 76

    Ave. - 75

Rangers projected points total based on points per game so far and extrapolated for a full season:

    61 or 62 points.

No particular reason for stopping on the season I did other than I got bored.

Anyway, evidence to date suggests we'll be looking at the play offs.

    Nice one lads.

I'm no longer 100% convinced we will win the league. Don't get me wrong, we probably will. But its far from the foregone conclusion I initially believed.

I posted a few weeks back, having the same concern.Saying under Ally and his two buddies we would struggle to gain promotion

  12. I liked him. we played better with him in the team. his pace very much put the opposition on the back foot from the off.

he turned the tide v celtc that won us 3 in a row and the cup when we were struggling against them.

Let's be honest now GS, Wylde was utter crap. Absence makes the heart grow fonder EH?

  13. I was going to say that CG continues to make the SFA/SPL look like absolute numpties. The truth is of course ...they are absolute numpties...CG is just highlighting it.

This though really has to be the icing on the cake. The commissions chair making a statement which totally contradicts the actions of the SFA & SPL.

Good post D'art, would be nice if you visited Gersnet more often.
