  1. I sit above them BH and they create a great atmosphere. I'm not condoning what happened or some of there behaviour. I'm just trying to keep a sense of perspective. They throw rolled up paper on to the pitch.

I keep saying this about Europe. I'm sure some in here watch far more European football than me and even I know much worse goes on.

On another note, as we are having a moan fest. You can get some right idiots in the Broanloan Rear on cup nights! These are the seats that are sold to everyone and often groups of our "younger inebriated" supporters.

Pain in the arse at times, especially when you have kids with you. I know there is little the club can do, just pointing it out.

As I said a few posts back, I am more than happy to praise their efforts in Leipzig, honestly they were immense. In fact the local polis got fed up having to holt the march as the UB's (sorry Ultras!) continually regrouped to much banging of drums etc. That is what led to some good- humoured snowballing of the polis, though they clearly didn't see it that way and donned riot gear. For a few minutes it looked a bit edgy but fortunately some wiser old heads prevailed on them to lower the profile a bit and all was well.

I don't know what they're on when they jump up and down at Ibrox but so long as all they do is sing and dance about it doesn't worry me. Once they interfere with the game however or their behaviour becomes otherwise unacceptable that's a different matter entirely.

We have the same issue in the Main Stand with ST seats sold to all comers for non ST home games. I used to buy tickets outside the ground before I got my ST and often found myself in amongst the such and such RSC Loyal in the Broomloan, I recall the Darlington guys in particular being fond of a refreshment on their journeys. There is a wide spectrum of what different folk regard as "normal/acceptable" behaviour.

As to what the Club could do about it, well, when I went to see Independiente v Racing in Buenos Aires a few years back, they breathalised anyone who looked at all dodgy outside the ground. Sober or not the home fans did the bouncy and kept up a hell of a racket throughout the match. Not sure if it would work here though. :) Might cut the crowds quite a bit.

  2. ok I was a bit dramatic BH however my point by is that everyone was throwing "paper" ffs! This is beyond a joke! Apologies if I'm getting wound up over this but it's disgraceful! Far far far worse happens in Europe without reprimand!

I agree it's much ado about nothing but sadly we are being scrutinised from all angles by all concerned on our return to Europe and I would like to extend my foray to Luxembourg next week to Cyprus and beyond, relying on our on field performances rather than being at risk from the off field antics of some of our fellow supporters.

  3. As I've alluded to previously your naivety concerning your fellow fans is quite breath taking at times the Union Bears ARE the Rangers Ultras.

So you have, in fact you seem to revel in it.

    And so what?

Why would I have any knowledge of the the UB, Rangers Ultras, or any such group; I have no interest in them whatsoever. And before you say it, just because I have held a number of positions in fans' groups doesn't obligate me to make a study of all such groups.

  4. He was not confused how do you come by that. there is a difference between not knowing at that moment and being confused. We are human and can only read one thread at a time the same as everybody else. Craig was obviously catching up on that thread and had just read the same as everyone else who was reading it. You can see that as he answered Limeburner after he was banned. Is it important that we intimate to the whole board how long a ban is. The person who needs to know, knows. He even got it wrong it was not Craig that banned him the last time it was me. He was the 2nd person I have ever banned for 24hrs in all the time I have been a moderator and I think Craig's record will also be about the same or maybe even less. We do not ban people easily.

He was possibly\probably drunk and out of order so he got a second offence timed ban.

    End of!

    Fine by me, Pete.

I assume you mean " Is it NOT important that we intimate to the whole board how long a ban is. "

  5. There were thousands throwing paper on. What about all over Europe with confetti, paper and bog roll et el?? Nothing, not a peep! This is another stitch up and the game is a bogey right enough.

What about balloons, thousands of them that goalies have had to kick or stamp on. This is ridiculous!!

I agree we lost momentum in the game but to cite the fans? Club 1872 should have someone watch every fucking UEFA game. The least wee thing report it. Then follow it up again and again!! If it's the mhanks, be all over it like a rash!

There were not "thousands throwing paper on"; there were only a handful, certainly in terms of those which reached the pitch.

Where I agree with you is that a lot of referees would have just got on with the game.

I'm sure they'll be plenty of volunteers for Club 1872 Euro Watch trips; perhaps even increase the membership. :D

  6. Let's be honest with each other, we all know who is responsible for this childish behaviour. The same thing happened in one of the last games last season( cannot remember), but I do remember paper cups etc. being thrown.

Who is it then, TBH I know nothing about these groups, other than what I see at Ibrox and saw in Leipzig?

  7. ...another thing!

Why did the club not allocate the away fans a wee spot in the West Enclosure or up in the CD? That big empty corner is not only an embarrassment it's also costing us much needed revenue. Something has to be done when away fans can't get anywhere near filling it - it's terrible looking!

I wish the club would push to get away fans into BF1 like the old days, and that includes C****c, with so many ST holders now why do we need to give the beasts so many tickets?, we don't need them!

I think the 25 or so who made the trip are to be commended but agree this needs to be looked at because there must have been more than 2,000 empty seats (capacity 50,817 attendance 48,681) that cost us circa £20,000.

I know the visiting team are entitled to 5% of the seats but I also know that there is a cut off for requesting and returning unwanted tickets. In this case it must have been known quite early that they would only be bringing a handful (or a mini bus full) so enough time allocate a different area. The issue might be if the tickets were already issued for that area but there were so few they could easily have been given new seats with some co-ordination or even outside the ground. There were more stewards than away fans so far as I could see.

  8. First of all it was not the Blue Order!, and calling them senseless idiots is just wrong, second of all it was not the Union Bears!, the UB went to the trouble of organising a card display but they were not responsible for the clowns who threw the rolled up paper onto the pitch!.

It was crunched up paper ffs!, hardly crime of the century, however the idiots who did it are just thick in the head so the only solution is for the club to ban card displays!

Thanks for that Ian as I said it was right along the Broomloan and having witnessed poor behaviour from the UB/BO over the journey I am prone to jump on their backs when things happen from their areas.

IMO it is these sections in the main that have to grow up and accept the club cannot afford to be dragged down by their actions/behaviour,as we are now entering the era where we want to be.

Remember they are based in front of the family section and youngsters are easily led by what they see/hear.

I also totally accept the EUFA would not act on this type of thing if the paper had been green and white.

I must admit that I did not have a high opinion of the UB until I saw them in Leipzig.

    okRD95H.jpg

Apart from a few snowballs thrown at the police, their organisation was excellent on the long march from town to the ground and their behaviour exemplary.

    Credit where credit is due.

My only concern is a black, Rangers Ultras flag that I first saw in Leipzig and subsequently at least once in that area of the crowd in the Broamloan Front side nearest the Main Stand at Ibrox. I don't know if that is the UB or another group but it is a worrying development.

  9. Whether it's true or not, they have to be fucking stupid to do it in the first place after King's speech and after the ref had stopped play and it was disrupting our momentum.

Why even give UEFA the chance to have a go at us? Fannies, the lot of them.

Some idiots were still throwing stuff on after the ref had stopped the restart and stewards were on clearing up.

  10. I don't know the length of the an BD gave him - however, he has previous for coming on here and winding people up when drunk. Others have had permanent bans for similar.

And please stop referring back to the prediction league as an example of him being correct - seems to me you are doing that for a reaction, one we don't presently need.

Him calling Pedro an idio t and a dud would see him censured if he said similar about a forum member - sonit deserved a ban, temporary or otherwise.

If he, or any of us, can't post in the spirit of the forum then we need to be prepared for the consequences !

I referred to the PL as an example of LB's opinion being correct IMHO; not to look for any reaction.

I would have thought that admins would discuss bans or at least inform other admins about the reason (albeit obvious in this case) and length of such bans; to avoid just such confusion.

  11. Dear member,

Club 1872 commends the vast majority of the Rangers support for their conduct over the course of the game last night - which marked our long awaited, winning return to European competition.

The atmosphere was very positive and a colourful display by the Union Bears at the start of the game added to the overall spectacle. The Rangers support can be a great asset to the Europa League this season and we hope to see many more nights like this in the coming months.

Unfortunately we have today been informed that the actions of a small number of supporters in the Broomloan Stand, who threw balled-up pieces of paper onto the pitch, has led to Rangers being cited by UEFA. Whilst this appeared to be meant in good humour and was carried out by a number of younger supporters, it has nonetheless led directly to a situation where Rangers now have to put forward a submission to UEFA. At this stage we are unsure of the nature of any possible sanction, if any.

We appreciate that most supporters will see this as a very minor matter, and we would share that view. However, it is another reminder that we have to hold ourselves to as high a standard as possible. We want to see colourful displays at the stadium in the future and would ask supporters not to risk jeopardising these.

We will be liaising with Rangers on this issue and will seek to gain a better understanding of how a citation of this type comes about following what, on the face of things, seems to be such an innocuous incident. We hope that this will allow us to better inform our supporters in the future about how they can avoid action, and walk the fine line that exists between enjoying the game and potentially falling foul of UEFA regulations.

    Club 1872

A reasonable statement though it's not clear to me why Club 1872 needs to commend good conduct which should be the norm. However, the statement is spoiled by the last paragraph IMO. " innocuous incident" or not, which bit of you can't through anything on the pitch is it they don't get? "We hope that this will allow us to better inform our supporters in the future about how they can avoid action" Answer - don't through things. "walk the fine line that exists between enjoying the game and potentially falling foul of UEFA regulations."? What fine line is that. Don't sing banned songs, don't run on and don't throw stuff on the pitch - simples.

  12. I doubt the Progres approach will change much in Luxembourg. They will continue in the same style of packing the area because realistically if they don't they will be hammered and they know that. They will do exactly as they did at Ibrox and hope to nick something on the break or at a set piece.

And the chances are that's no different from what we will generally face in the SPL and particularly so at Ibrox. But in saying that this team is still short of full match fitness and understanding and we all clearly saw the difference just one man can make when Kranjcar began to drop out of it and left.

So given that we're not yet up to speed and still have several faces to come in including possibly still unsigned faces and given the difference just one man can make I still feel encouraged to say 'you aint seen nothing yet'

I think JFK has had a "balance" transfer; happy to agree with this post, though apparently he won't read my comments. :D

  13. Didn't the team we play last night hail from a place with a population of 2000? We should be gubbing such minnows by a cricket score, regardless of our circumstances. I bet most of our players earn more individually than their entire squad does.

They do and I agree but the goalkeeper is German with experience in the lower leagues and they have several Frenchmen and others in the squad.

  14. We're not in Q2 yet.

The result was good but the scoreline was unsatisfactory at best. I don't agree with the "new team", "early season" excuses. One of the players whose job is to score goals Waghorn, failed completely as he did many times last season. He should not have been selected. We know what he can't do. Morales should have started. He may not be better than Waghorn but he can't be worse.

The centre halves have improved on the McCoist/Warburton sides. Their teams would have lost a goal last night. The midfield is promising but all to no avail if the finishers can't score. Let's hope Herrera can get goals. Miller scores a few but not nearly enough.

I realise that and tried to word my first line accordingly, I thought "difficulty getting beyond Q2" would include difficulty getting to Q2. That said, I saw nothing in Progres to worry us in the second leg. I'm confident that even in our current "work in progress" we've got enough to reach Q2. Getting beyond that will be problematic IMO.

  15. I promise myself I will never say this again....I agree with BH. There I have said it! Lol.

The judges idea is a good one and it could be changed monthly.

He is right, it's a pain in the arse for everyone to do it every game.

I'm fairly sure we've agreed at least once in the past; but thanks for the endorsement. I do have good ideas from time to time. :D
