  1. I voted on the RST site earlier today.
  2. There is a section of Rangers supporters that needs to get over this fixation with Ireland and Irish politics. While Ireland is a nice place to visit, we are a Scottish and British club and a great many of us (most?) have no connection to Ireland north or south. So lets leave Ireland to the bigots from the east end.
  3. With all the claims, counter claims and different numbers flying around, what we really need is an independent audit of the club. Of course, we have already had one but the only numbers we see are the ones released by management. So maybe management need to 'open the kimono' and give us some real visibility to what is going on. That way, we would not need to speculate any more. In any event, to a certain extent it is academic. You don't have to be a genius to know that Rangers are going to have to find some more investment sometime next year. And who is going to invest when such a large number of the paying customers - i.e. the support - are clearly very unhappy with the Board and the management? The current Board may win the votes at the upcoming AGM. But it could be a pyrrhic victory if they cannot work out how to bring the support back onside. No matter what the OP suggests, Stockbridge is damaged goods and I am betting he will be gone by next summer. The best thing for all concerned is a compromise between the current Board and the requisitioners, a couple of them on the Board and a supporters rep. as well. Then we have a basis to shed some light on the finances, to bring in new investment and to create the stability we need to move the club forward.
  4. RM seems to be down. I am getting a can't find server message.
  5. They should be forced into liquidation and their assets sold to repay the taxpayer.
  6. I thought that was a rather rambling piece by Kheevins which sought to 'explain' the Green Brigade's behaviour by putting it in a wider context of a resurgence in fotball hooliganism in Scotland. But, by any measure, the behaviour of the Green Brigade is worse than that of other supports. Offensive banners, bigoted chanting, throwing of smoke bombs and flares and the vandalism of other club's grounds. And it is that reality that Kheevins seeks to lessen by bringing others into the equation. Not that this excuses the flare thrower at Falkirk and as Ranger's fans we need to be doing our bit to stop this kind of thing happening. But if the efforts to downplay the actions of the Green Brigade or the actions of a Celtic support content to fight it out with Dutch police continue in this vein then it will not be long before other, possibly worse, incidents occur. When this happens - and happen it will - we need to ensure that the Ranger's support do not give the mhedia an opportunity to deny, deflect and dissimulate in the way that Kheevins does above.
  7. Somers can say what he wants. Today's demo suggests that the Board has lost the bulk of the support. Time for Somers to wake up and smell the coffee or he is going to become the next boardroom casualty.
  8. Yes, but for most of that time the Board was chosen by an owner who had absolute control. Personally, I would not wish to be part of a Board that was packed with yes men and expected to be a rubber-stamp.
  9. If the requisitioners do not have a lot of support then it would be reasonable to ask why the Board (current and previous) are trying so hard to discredit them and why they felt the need to hire a PR man.
  10. Well, of course, this site does tend to be the most measured of the Rangers message boards and where polite conversation, proper spelling and decent punctuation is the most prevalent.
  11. Perhaps, but that engagement has clearly not resolved the issue. Perhaps they have been engaging with the wrong people. Sometimes you actually do have to listen to your customers and shareholders.
  12. And the infighting continues ......... I don't think trying to shift the focus onto Leggat or some of the requistioner's supporters is especially constructive. There are too many in our support who seem to enjoy prolonging the infighting rather than looking for solutions. Perhaps we should be focusing on why the shareholders who are backing the requisitioners are unhappy and why many in the support are unhappy. Then we might have a basis for a substantive discussion. Now, if the club had chosen to engage with both the requisitioners and the support rather than continuing the war of press releases we might have found some common ground. After all, this new Chairman and CEO are supposed to be independent men without previous baggage. Poring over the minutes of previous Board meetings might be intellectually edifying but it doesn't actually help solve the current stand-off. And that, I would have thought, should be pretty high on the short-term to-do list. Of course, they had a golden opportunity at the Grosvenor meeting. One wonders why they did not seize it.
  13. I think that the Chairman needs to understand that it is the support that keeps Rangers going financially and that he needs to engage constructively with that support. This kind of statement is not helpful when it comes to building bridges and repairing the relationships that have been so badly damaged over the past couple of years. For example, he could have showed up at the recent meeting at the Grosvenor Hilton the way the requisitioners and others did. Alternatively, how about inviting a representative of the supporter's organisations on to the board. The support has genuine concerns. The Board has been shambolic over the past year with resignations galore. We have managed to get through three Nomads and two CEOs. The CFO has failed to inspire confidence on the few occasions he has engaged with the support. There is real concern over bonuses and payments to management and Board members and the use of Jack Irvine has added fuel to the fire. The Chairman needs to recognise that a large percentage of the support are very unhappy over how the club is being run and, if he is to have any credibility, he needs to start allaying those concerns in a substantive and constructive way. There are many more things he could have done other than this statement.
  14. And he hits the nail on the head when he talks about execution. Paul Murray has never 'executed'. Too much talk, not enough action.
  15. Initially at least, the argument that Murray and McColl had not put money in was rather weak given that they were representing investors who had put a lot of money in. However, what we have seen in the past months and even more so in the last week is that a couple of investors - Laxey and the Easdales - have been buying up large blocks of shares and this has given them a significant degree of influence. I don't know where the requisitioners stand in terms of the percentage of shares they control but it is becoming increasing clear that, if they want to prevail, they probably need to start acquiring a few more blocks themselves. But let's be clear and honest here. These acquisitions of shares are not new money for the club and there is no financial benefit to the club from McColl, Murray, the Easdales or anyone else in buying them. The only way the club will benefit from share purchases is through a new issue.
  16. The problem is that Celtic Football Club tacitly encourages this kind of extreme behaviour. The other problem is that the mainstream media in Scotland, the SFA, the political establishment and the judicial authorities appear to display blatant double standards when it comes to them and us.
  17. So are you suggesting that RM is somehow equivalent to the RST?
  18. Because Gersnet and/or FF did?
  19. The whole thrust of the requisitioners argument was to get the Spivs out and get competent management and corporate governance in. Almost all of the old Board have gone as has the CEO. We have a new chairman and a new CEO both of whom - on paper - have a decent CV. So, to a large extent, that has neutralised the requisitioner's position. And I think that is the where Laxey are right now. Ultimately, I think that if PM and JM want to be able to influence events going forward then they are going to have to start buying up shares. That is what others have done and it has swayed the balance of power from this outsiders perspective. Sadly, and as with the BKs, there appears to be a lot of talk but not a lot of substance behind PM.
  20. When I buy shares short to medium term I am looking for around 10% return. On the few occasions where I have invested in a new business or a turnaround, I am looking for 200% - 300%. If I were Laxey, I would be looking for a share price of 100p in three to five years. But that is just me.
  21. Laxey are in this to make money. So let's be very clear on that. But their policy is to make money on the capital appreciation in share value rather than in the form of dividends and other cash coming out of the business. So for them to make money the value of shares in Rangers has to increase. For them to increase, the business has to start doing well. So they have a vested interest in our success. I also know that Laxey have reached out to certain supporter's groups which is, I think, a good thing. My general impression (hope I am not wrong in this) is that Laxey are a reputable outfit who will add value to Rangers.
  22. Unfortunately, the attitude of the online support to each other makes it very hard for one individual - or a group of individuals - to emerge as leaders and which would enable them to reach out to the rest of the support. As soon as anyone emerges, the sniping from the various factions starts as we saw in the recent thread regarding SoS. Why would any capable individual want to get involved in these circumstances? As soon as anyone opens their mouths there is a chorus of "who elected you", "you don't speak for me' or "show me the proof". The other downside of our failure to coalesce around a given leadership group is that it makes the support far easier to ignore whether it be by Club management and directors or by potential investors. Dave King has been ignoring the support for years and yet he still attracts plenty of admirers - or at least his money does. Partly as a result of the above, the few fans groups we do have are remarkably timid when it comes to representing the support. Rather than formulating their own platform and campaigning on that, they seem to prefer to hitch on to the latest bandwagon to be rolling through town. And even then they sell their support far too cheaply.
  23. For years we didn't ask the hard questions of David Murray and didn't put pressure on him and look where it got us. If the guys running the club are upfront then they should have no problem providing the evidence to refute the allegations once and for all.
