Yet another scandal rocks Scottish football
der Berliner replied to Super_Ally's topic in Rangers Chat
The ref got himself off the hook when he awarded The Hooped Horrors a second half penalty ... only for Ki to miss it, after some audacious Dunfermline supporter dared to yell at him from the away end. The latter incident is to be reviewed by a independent panel of experts soon, who may decide whether away support is actually allowed to say, sing, and shout anything at the Scumhut - or being banned altogether. The latter would then give The Hooped Horrors the chance to let in more of the victimized, sick and poor people of their own ilk into the ground on reduced prices*. *Subject to schooling, political mindset, and religion of said people. -
I'm starting to losing track already ... ... sayest Talksport Strange how they all assume that Jela's sale is a definite ...
-
IMHO, we "look" at Indians, Hondurans, Nepalese, South Koreans and even Landon Donovan only to have the Yahoos haring about and scratching their scalps, while we calmy sign Jamie Murphy in January with no-one having a clue until he gets pictured at Murray Park ...

Rangers FC Group Ltd settles Fyfe Ireland legal bill
der Berliner replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
We'll never know what the hold-up actually was, so we can only speculate. It was sure a nice headline raiser and a chance of the BBC to spout negative headlines ones more. Hence, it should have been avoided. That said, FI's Celtic-minded employee(s) might have made sure that any hold up would have ended in the press somewhere / sometime. -
Interestingly enough, Aluko "follows" rfc_lindsay, rfc_dickson, the RST and TomCommentator on twitter. Wonder how this talk between his agent and the Sheep went. Regarding Kerkar ... yep, he scored and scores goals in friendlies et al, but hardly gets playing time in the first team. Even now, when Wylde is injured. Sometimes the way we deal with players is ... odd.
-
Aberdeen just want to cash in, no matter what. They signed him and put him in the first squad straight away, 27 games per season during his stay tells this story. They bought him for 50k, he is a freebie now, so I actually cannot see the point in them claiming ANY money at all - they just want to cash in. Have we had any precedence to Aberdeen's claim?
-
Ness is just back from injury. If I get this right, we played ... Gallacher Ortiz - McMillan - Perry (Hegarty) - Kerkar Aluko (Cole) - Bendiksen - McCulloch (Mitchell) - Wylde Hemmings - Fleck And here were we thinking we are looking at a left winger ... :sowsuser:

All the truth in this is that Neil Murray spoke a few words about a couple of Greek players. No link to us whatsoever. Would he talk to the press and tell the world of football who we are likely to target? I think not.
-
It could well be that Jela might go, but I for one doubt that he will join up with a Championship team. But anyway, there are more factors involved here, as e.g. we will not sell before securing a number of attacking and goalscoring options beforehand.
-
Is Murray urging the Hooped Horrors to splash some more millions in the Greek market, dragging them further into debts? I for one doubt that he would talk to the press about any possible targets for us, for this would not just set Timothy on alert levels, but quite a few English teams too, who all think they can easily live of our scouting and outbid us in any dealings. On a sidenote, I doubt that Olympiacos would sign him in the summer only to sell him for a few quid a bit alater. Loan perhaps, but selling? His goalscoring record looks good though (and the Greek league is not that much "worse" than the Scottish).

It does look like people can't live without a win every week. There is a consistency every season that we have "bad spells" and "good spells". Away from home, we have consistently shown that we can beat any opponent in Scotland. At home, when forced to play football to break stubborn sides up, we've been lacking. That is something we knew and know for months. Cometh Hearts, Dundee United and the Hooped Horrors, i.e. teams that like to play football too, we fare easier. The sooner the "breaking-low-key sides up" problem is solved the better. Sure not something to panic about yet indeed.

Leggat - double standards from lawwell in celtic's ira singing row
der Berliner replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
While you would not want to get blind over at their board, one observer noted this little survey ... ... currently 75% are pro mentioning IRA in their songs. We do remember that we were done in Eindhoven for singing "against" the IRA. The Hooped Horrors seem to think that this is an entirely different matter. I call that Disfunctional Reality Perception. -
What is "a big club"? We are a club with a great history, tradition and are know in many a country that has any sort of football pedigree. But I would assume that these days, the consensus about "big" would only yield the names Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter, Milan, and Bayern Munich. After that, there will be a considerable gap, ere the rich teams (i.e. those who spend sums beyodn belief and are thus in everyone's ear) would enter, e.g. Man City or Chelsea. After that, those teams of our category would join up alongside the likes of Ajax, Porto, Lyon, Lazio, Arsenal, Benfica ... you name them. That all said, there sure is a different level of interest to be gathered in countries with "closer" ties to Britain, whether by language or historically. Be that the US of A (these days Bedoya, Edu, Bocanegra), or India (with a sizeable community in Britain and interest from the other side of the globe). Maybe the Indian league and its players are still way below "standard" (though opinion about standards vary) and interest in football still marginal, getting a foot in this market simply by being present and possibly sending some ex-players as coaches will do no harm in the future. It is exactly what the Portuguese and Spanish did with South America (BTW, the French and Dutch too) decades ago ... and we all know the amount of talent they gather in now.

Can't really see any great ground for argument here. Aberdeen, like many other Scottish clubs lacking money, used a young player "discarded" by Birmingham and put him straight into their first team, where he essentially played 3 fulls seasons in their first team (average 27 per season). What his agent and he argues is (not we, sic!) that while developement he sure made by gaining experience on the park, the "development" that is targetted by the compensation rule is for actually teaching him the knick-knacks of football in training and his youth. That was done by Birmingham, not Aberdeen. At least that is the tone which comes out of Aluko's camp.
-
Matter of fact, from what is being written, he's impressed. What I think holds up any deal is Aberdeen's claim to receive money for him, since "they developed" him and he's still under 23. Would be somewhat strange, since he's been a freebie for a few months now.

All eyes on Ibrox as McCoist revels in domestic bliss . . .
der Berliner replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
During the 1992/93 season, we recorded a 44-game (?) unbeaten run in all competitions, Europe included. Hope Ally can keep his troops up to this kind of professionalism for months to come. -
And it looks we're not just "targetting" the Indian market on the other side of the globe ... Gers back Indian Festival
-
Ortiz? Decent enough for the SPL, but some people will never win fans over. That's one in seven signings he made then that you deem "not good enough". Would have to backtrack what you said about Goian or Bocanegra at the time. Anyway, today's supposedly judgement day for Aluko.
-
Fair enough. Still, does anyone on here really think that McCoist, McDowell and Durrant would waste their time looking at duds? I would expect that only players whom they rate actually make it to Murray Park in the first place ... and other with these Indians or the Swede, they all have seen Aluko in action before.
-
Of those you mention, Ortiz is the only "winger" with experience, but actually a right winger come full back. Same goes for Bedoya, who has played there for the US of A as well. Wylde is, as I said, rather one-dimensional thus far, McKay played as left winger, but is actually a creative centre-midfielder who can play on the left. As for opinions, here's one who has seen Aluko at close hand, and not just at Murray Park.
-
First, he's one of the top performers (statwise) in Liverpool's midfield. Second, you weren't impressed with him at Blackpool? He played 34 games, scored 12 goals and had 9 assists ... for Blackpool. If you weren't impressed by that, I wonder what you make of him at the age of 18, when he was amongst our squad players. That was actually my point with regard to your opinion about Aluko "failing at Birmingham", a team he never played a real game for, most likely because of his age and a squad full of high-earners. It was not my intend to show you that Aluko is a decent player. Of course, him being selected as English u16 to u19 and as a full Nigerian international at the age of 20 should give you some ideas. Anyways, IMHO, we could do much worse than sign an experienced freebie at low wages till the end of the season as cover for Naismith. I for one would like to see some more competition to Wylde out there (McKay is IMHO a player that should be deployed nearer the centre of midfield), who is still quite one-dimensional.
-
Near 100 SPL games under his belt, former England and now Nigerian international, and still only 22 years of age. Danny, he failed badly at Birmingham? He was there in his youth and had one season as a first teamer (no games), aged 18. Well, well ... Then again, some will say the same about folk like Charlie Adam.
