I'd like to think that Gerrard will be punishing the players for things like that.  It could have cost us, albeit the kick out was stupid and not dangerous, and we need to keep our heads better in that environment.

Drop him for a game or 2 & a few harsh words.  won't go wrong in the grander scheme of things.

That’s a breach of the peace any day of the week.

Was the heckler yelling “British bastards”? Racial aggravation in these precious times.

Sounded more like "Judas bastards"....In the case of SG, I'd assume for going up against St Brenda.  Can't see how it would apply in any way to the players though.  Probably thought he was being clever & it sounded good...

There's an increasing tendency to mislead this issue. Rangers reduced Celtic's allocation at Ibrox for the benefit and convenience of Rangers supporters, not to deny Celtic or to reduce "atmosphere". This had been called for over many year by Rangers fans and became a no-brainer when demand for season tickets passed a certain level..

Whereas Ceptic reducing Rangers allocation was an act of "tit-for-tat".  Their decision was not taken to benefit their own fans.

We've had really limited success from all these loanees. We should only be loaning players if they're much better than what we've got, or what we can buy, and often they aren't even good enough in the first place.

It plugs a gap and should be used sparingly. The exception to the rule is if we have an option to buy the player at the end of the loan. At least we might get some sort of long term gain out of it then.

    I would disagree....

Coulibaly has been outstanding since he came in.

Ejaria had a slower start, but has been fantastic over the past 3-4 games.

Kent is raw, but is keen fast & direct and has been improving game to game.

Sadiq has been the biggest disappointment (so far)....limited game time & when he has played, hasn't really shown anything.

Celtc minded people decided to make a beeline for public office a few decades ago and have been rather successful.  Rangers fans tend to be less focused in such matters and this is quite apparent wherever you look in politics and the press.

All we can do is encourage the next generation of Bears to educate themselves, get more involved and to continually pull them (yahoos in public office) up when they demonstrate their agenda.

    Why is that???

One major positive that the Independence referendum in 2014 had, was that interest in politics took a massive jump.  More folk are talking about what's going on & who's doing what.  Looks at the political discussions on here recently....I would bet that none of these would have taken place pre-2014.  Questioning & watching the politicians is a good thing....that is why there have been soooo many scandals etc uncovered in the past few years - folk are asking questions.

It would be the same 50,000 folk who were attending anyway on a Saturday and this fan zone was initially for a trial period.

If you read the previous minutes from May and before there was no inkling there would be a problem so something has happened in a relatively short period to influence the community council.

I fully understand why residents may not want this and that is fine but in the much publicised Susan Aitken letters said she had acted on information from the community council AND Stephen Dornan. She may of course consult with Dorman but the role of Stephen Dornan in what is supposed to be a residents decision is worthy of challenge given he is a relatively high profile Celtic supporter

It all seems a shambolic way to do it imo. If a few Rangers bars had emptied that night and popped along to the meeting the vote would have gone through.

I think you are getting confused with James Dornan MSP....this is to do with Councillor Stephen Dornan (no relation).

Since Cllr Dornan works along side Ms Aitken, it makes sense that she would consult with him on the issue.

Here are the 20th June minutes. Note Stephen Dornan is in attendance and vote was a show of residents hands. Much discussion and objection so not beyond the realms of possibility that the local council have been heavily influenced by arguments from Rangers hating Dornan and the ‘residents show of hands’ included folk who might not normally attend, knowing what was to be discussed and how the vote would be constituted. Speculation I know but a good chance this was a decision influenced by a few Rangers haters as the other argument in respect of facility usage does not stand up to scrutiny.

Local Rangers fans should get along to these meetings as they can change things directly. The community council is supposed to be apolitical btw.

Are you suggesting that the folk who attended were unable to form their own opinions???

7.2     Application for temporary public licence - Ibrox
Fanzone 11th August - area where this is proposed was originally part of a local  trust and is now owned by Glasgow life. These facilities were given to the Glasgow life by the trust and the council on the condition that they be used for the local community. There was much discussion and objection to this proposed use.
It was noted that unlike most licensing there was no option for individuals to comment and/or object. Community Council Can object until 9th July, as such a vote was taken by show of hands from residents. Objection was favoured by a very clear majority therefore Kirsty will send objection letter prior to deadline.

Based on the facts in front of us....it is clear that the local residents didn't like what was being proposed & therefore objected.  The council have then followed their standard procedures with regard to public event licencing.

Also worthy of note, that this is a different Dornan (this is Stephen(councillor), and not James(MSP)), from the one that everyone on here hates - they are no relation.

So, what did the Club do in order to try & get the local residents on side???  From Ms Aitken's letter, it would appear...not a lot.  But lets still blame the Bad SNP & their anti-Rangers minions....

When have I ever criticised my community council?

I've offered them support by way of signing petitions etc when I agree with the issues.

As for your latter sentence and its implications, I've helped with running youth organisations in the past, been treasurer etc, and also served on the council of a national body of a pastime, not to mention being involved in a few organisations representing the Rangers support...

Sorry, but I didn't realise that you had to serve on an organisation before you could criticise it. 9_9

That last part was more of a general observation.....many folk are quick to criticise how things are run, but are reluctant to offer a practical solution themselves.

Ont his particular subject that actually aren't enough people questioning the Community council - after all , it was them who raised the initial objection and apparently refused to with draw it.  All to easy for many on here to simply go down the "SNP bad" route...

  9. So....now that Susan Aitken's letter is there for all to see, when is the ripping apart of her side of events???

If everyone here is sooooo adamant that it is the SNP led council that are at fault & that the decision was taken due to political/footballing bias, then there will be an abundance of background evidence that supports this view and that the series of events that Ms Aitken has commented on will be shown to be outright lies.

It doesn't seem unreasonable to describe those who are attempting to split up the UK and cause irreversible damage to the country as the enemy. It's not just a decision that can be reversed in 4 or 5 years.

No, I'm not a member of my local community council because

    a) don't have the time

    b) don't care enough about the issues.

    c) the council will just decide to do what they want anyway.

Current UK Govt are doing a fine job of that on their own....

As for the Community council stuff....that's the usual approach - criticise everything that that they do, when it's other folk doing the work, but never offer your services.  I've seen that all too often whether it be local councils, youth groups or sports clubs - folk are happy to be vocal when it's not them that's involved.

Agree with that Tannoch and winning these games is vital to build momentum and self belief. I don’t think

we can understate the effort expended in EL qualification and that pre-season got us through it and the mgt and team deserve massive credit. It’s right to make a further assessment after the run of games you refer to. At the moment it really has to be a thumbs up to the achievements so far and for the fans to play a continuing part in that.

Celtic’s defence would not have withstood the pressure that we have been under so Im confident our back 5 is better than theirs.

The real difference is the middle of the park and we have some decent players who I think just need that one star player to make everyone play better. I don’t see that player anywhere in the current squad tbh.

I’m fairly confident we can match their attack out wide and in front of goal although yesterday we saw again (twice) the rash shooting from narrow angles when other players were in better positions. That has been going on for a couple of seasons now and needs trained out of Morelos in particular.

    100% agree about our defence.

In the middle, I think we do have the players to dictate the game.

Again, I agree about the wide players.

Overall, the problem (IMHO) wasn't the quality of our players - we've see how they can play - it was the fact that the whole team was sitting far too deep & there were no options for an out ball.  Kent & Lafferty we both camped in our half for most of the game.

No thanks but using language that infers that fans with an alternative view are somehow colluding with the "enemy" is disrespecful.  This is not directed at you but the general tone of certain posts in this thread

Bill (and others) have already made it VERY clear that if you support Independence, and/or the SNP....you are not welcome to be a Rangers fan.  They have given up "inferring" anything

Only Union flag waving, Westminster worshiping type folks are welcome within the Rangers support.

    Darther has picked a side.

It would probably do a number of folk the world of good to realise that there are 2 sides....

In this case, it took 12 pages of comment, before anyone actually posted what was said.....how many folk on this thread had READ Aitken's letter???

She has made it clear that the Council actually have no objections to the proposal.  Where they do have objection is that Club employees had made their belief widely known on social media, that the refusal was down to religion/political bias.  That belief has been blindly evident on here as well, with opinions being put forward without full knowledge of the process, procedures or facts.  Just another case of "SNP hate us".  Yet the basic fact is that the objection came from the local Ibrox community council & the club were unable to convince them to withdraw their objection.

  14. My thoughts on the game:

We played right into Ceptic hands...and played exactly how every other team plays.

They like to build from the back - casually passing between their back 4 & holding Mids.  They rarely get ANY pressure from the opposition while doing this.  Morelos would occasionally have a wee 1/2 hearted run at them, but nothing sustained or in any numbers.  This allows them to firstly increase their possession stats considerably & also allows them to survey the play ahead of them.  Gives the more forward players time to move about & create space.  Then all it takes is 2-3 passes and their swarming the penalty box.  As a result this makes Broonaldo look a helluva lot better than he actually is.

Most team that have been them have identified this and press their defenders relentlessly .

We simply did not press them enough for large parts of the game.  Instead we invited them to attack & tried to soak up the pressure - which I think we did VERY well.  I find that I'm no longer getting really nervous whenever a ball is played into our box.  Soaking up that amount of pressure for 90mins is an exceedingly big ask for ANY team.

I felt that our 2nd biggest flaw was too many long balls from McGregor.  We were not winning the either the 1st or 2nd balls from the keepers long punts.  This allowed them to reset & attack again - giving us no rest.

We had very little opportunity to actually get a breather & retain possession for any length of time.

I would like to have seen more pressure put on Broonaldo....booked after 10mins, we should have been right in his face and niggling him at EVERY opportunity.

Ultimately we needed to push the game further up the pitch & let their midfield know that they are in a game....just didn't happen though.

Overall, disappointed with the result but generally content with the play - we looked solid enough & with a few wee tweaks, could change things significantly.

Flanagan struggled in the first half though tightened up second. Clearly he is uncomfortable on the left.

Right side is definitely his more favoured position....he's decent on the left though.  He still got sent off, putting us down to 9-men though - you could argue that if we'd lost it would have more down to Flanagan's red than Morelos'...
