Putting aside the Rangers angle for a moment, it actually shows to me how out of touch the BBC are with their audience that they continually put guys like this forward on their shows. Cosgrove, Cowan and Chick bloody Young are deeply unpopular with most people, not just Rangers fans. Despite this the BBC continue to push them up front and centre. The simple fact that Cosgrove's lunchtime show is still on air, ten years after it stopped being funny, tells you everything you need to know about the arrogance of that organisation.

Apologies if this has been done to death elsewhere but I haven't noticed any particular complaint about Celtic postponing their fixture this week to play in a lucrative friendly tournament. Has sporting integrity now gone out the window? Is it now ok to move fixtures around to suit the desires of one club? Is the top league now being run exclusively for the financial benefit of one club? All rhetorical questions of course but the answer to the next one is less obvious, at least to me anyway. Why does nobody seem to object to anything they do now?

Rangers (ally) should be saying that they have no problem with the red card, however, they expect similar challenges on our own players to be treated similarly. That is all we need, consistency from the refs. Unfortunately the reality is that the refs are fairly consistently inconsistent in this respect.

Looking forward to this after two weeks in The US where I managed to miss four games. I notice Templeton has been getting a lot of stick recently but for me he should be in the starting line up every week. I haven't seen his recent form obviously but surely even if he's out if sorts we need to stick with him for a few weeks because I think he's clearly our most naturally talented football player. I also think we need to find a slot for young Lewis.

Not how I interpret it, that interpretation is a spin to make them look less divisive. They are being openly provocative to everybody who doesn't buy 100% into their doctrine. Not the way to get everybody together methinks.

A lot of hyperbolic pish getting trotted out on this subject. They will "go after" the blue sea of Ibrox, really, does anybody actually believe that possible let alone remotely likely? It's not hard guys, we just stop singing songs about scumbag drug gang extortionist terrorists. It's really that simple. It would certainly enhance my match day experience that's for sure. -

Yep, I got a ban from ff a couple of years ago for saying that I was fed up listening to fans signing shite about terrorist gangs, whatever their flavour. Why can we no just sing about the football? It's 2013 for gawds sake! -

As far as I can make out Ferguson just confirmed that all the things he was being criticised for at the time were completly true. He did undermine the manager and did operate against team instructions. In my opinion his behaviour at the time was atrocious and PLG's failure to properly deal with him at the time was part of his ultimate downfall. I we'll remember a midweek game at Ibrox when Baz should have been subbed after ten minutes because he clearly wasn't doing what he was supposed to do. There are faults on both sides but Ferguson's behaviour was terrible in my opinion. -
Happy birthday Ally. I was fortunate enough to see the vast majority of your Rangers goals live. You'll always be a hero to me as a player.

I think it's only annoying when a specialist player for a certain position is left out to accommodate someone else playing out of position. Especially if that player is perceived to be a lesser performer in the position.

I can't help but feel there are a lot of drama queens getting all excited about this one. A daft boy made a silly bet as part of an accumulator. Big deal, fans bet against their own teams regularly, a bet is an attempt to win money from a certain set of circumstances, not a gesture of faith or support. If there was any suggestion whatever that he attempted to influence the result then his feet wouldn't have touched the ground. Fact is, he's just a silly wee boy who didnt think. Time to move along now I think.

Although Jig has scored a fair few goals this season and last I still don't think he links well enough and is mobile enough to operate properly as a striker. A large number of his goals are from set plays where he's using his physical advantage to get to the ball. Playing him at the back is ideal in my opinion. We still get him in the box at corners and wide free kicks where he threatens the most, especially with other big targets in the team allowing him to get a little less attention from opposition defenders.

I was interested to note a couple of things about the specific games involved in the 'betting against his own team' issue. Firstly the two games he did it with Hearts were games he wasn't even stripped for, presumably he was injured or suspended? I don't know but he wasn't involved and therefore unable to exert influence so presumably he thought it was ok to place the bets? Second thing, for the East Stirling game he was named on the subs bench, if I remember the game correctly that was a surprise because we'd been told all week he'd be out injured. Is it possible that he himself didn't think he'd be playing therefore thought again it would be ok? All pure speculation I know but that version of events kind of rings true for me. I suspect all he is really guilty of is being a bit thick. -
The blog on this couldn't be written in a less credible manner if the author was trying to be satirical. It's a total non starter.

I don't hold anything against him but I thought he came over as greedy in his interview in the papers today. "I was worth more" was the quote, well I can only assume he was offered the going rate for an ageing reserve goalie which unfortunately is what he is. The days of Rangers paying over the odds out of pride or sentiment are hopefully over. It may require a few more bruised egos to prove that point though.

I agree with most of what you say, the problem we have is that many of our songs come over as hatred of another culture rather than pride in our own. We don't help ourselves sometimes.

Yep, did my research in the rangers website and that seems pretty much the score. The lack of any news on Shields is worrying for him, especially as I reckon he is a guy who has a hell of a lot to prove after a pretty poor second half of last season. Templeton I want to see fit asap, with a couple of half decent strikers in the side and some decent movement ahead of him we should see big things from Templeton.

I notice there is no mention of Templeton or Shields in any of the pre season games. I know Shields was injured at the end of last season but wasn't he supposed to be back by now? What's the story with Templeton? Injured also?

I would argue strongly that of the two clubs Rangers are the ones who deserve far more sympathy. Not that you will read that anywhere other than forums like this.

I've not read the whole of this thread but I get the impression most are going down the line of 'free speech' etc. The thing is, when you put any banner like that up people outside of the club, rightly or wrongly, will interpret the banner as the views of the whole support. We certainly regard gangrene brigade banners in that manner so why wouldn't others interpret our banners that way? As such if your going to unveil something controversial then you can expect people to react if they feel you are trying to portray as universal a view they strongly disagree with. For what it's worth I loudly applauded the guy tearing the banner down from my seat in the Govan rear. There have been a series of banners from these guys over the course of the season and I've disagreed with almost every one. Maybe these guys will now think twice before they try to portray their own views as the views of all.
