The UK government decide work permits, not the SFA. There are some African countries where it's easier to get a UK work visa, and some where it's quite difficult.

The real problem a  club like Rangers has when it comes to academies, be they Scottish players or African ones, is the culture around the club. If Nordsjælland never win a trophy no one will be surprised, so they can blood young players, introduce them to their first team, allow them to make mistakes and learn their trade, safe in the knowledge they are only there to be developed and sold. Our support simply won't accept that. Young players will get a couple of games at most to prove they belong in the first team, then they'll be fair game for the crowd if they aren't pulling their weight.

We can set up as many academies as we want, but good luck getting them first team football at Rangers.

So we buy a smaller team or get a b team in the league.

For a team who can conceivably play 60+ games with deep runs in Europe and cup finals anything less than 35 apps (available for) a season is pretty unreliable imo, negligible even. Especially for a first teamer.

I didn't rate Aribo half as much as Ryan Jack as a player but I'd take him over Jack if I had a choice because he'll put down 90 minutes 2 or 3 times a week for the full season.

I don't mean this in a disparaging sense but Ryan Jack would be brilliant for a Kilmarnock or Motherwell just because of how much r&r he'd have between games. It's 3x a week for a full season with us - and then we schedule two bounce games during the winter break too.

Aribo was injured a lot. especially in his first couple of seasons.

I'm sure you're correct stat-wise, but his passing and and closing down has very little to do with who he has on his right hand side, and both of those parts of his game looked alien to him. I'm far from a Barasic hater, he's been a good servant for us, but I'm afraid his time is over.

    also been injured for weeks.

anyway i suspect he will go

Barasic looked like a rabbit in the headlights on tuesday night (in a friendly!), this has to be his last season.

statistically the best LB in the the SPL and second best full back behind tav this season.

I am sure we can get better but that is by no means certain.

He was not playing on wednesday with our normal defence.
