That's the bread and butter! The UEFA Final is the finest imported lager and a lobster the size of Bargeddie!
  2. Tosser, frankly. His attitude stinks and that tonight was an utter show of petulance. JCD can do a job in the final for 60-70 minutes and we have adequate replacements without Cousin.

The disappointment of losing the SPL would be greater because we've been half expecting to win it for a good while now whereas we never really took our chances of winning the UEFA seriously. But I still think to say you witnessed The Gers winning a European trophy is something to be cherished and something a lot of people in past or future lifetimes won't have or had the chance to say. For me, being able to say that would far exceed being able to say I witnessed x amount of league victories.
  4. Then stay up and have another drink ya wummin!
  5. Fuck that. Take £80 to B&Q and just get a big ladder to stand against Eastlands. .
  6. In all seriousness, amazing how quickly these songs come out. I got that in a text no more than 20 minutes after we won. Clearly been though of way in advance and started doing the rounds.

Fuck it, I'll buck the trend. UEFA Cup. 51 league titles can be added to almost at will in the near future. Although that would be easier to say had we not had the lead in the race for the title for so long and it would indeed be devastating to throw that away. I dare say we won't have another chance to win a European trophy for a good while, so I'm opting for that.
  8. Whittaker's looked cracking anytime I've seen him hit a penalty and I've never seen him miss.
  9. See to be honest, I'm not even bothering trying to get a ticket. Too much hassle.. I'll just go to Manchester and take it all in from there.

There will always be a minority of Celtic fans fucking stupid enough to now say it's a 'diddy cup' since we're in the final of it when it was the be all and end all when they got there.
  11. I agree with the play your best team policy. But it's always tough to leave out a guy who's being hailed as a hero in McGregor's absence.
  12. He's summed up what football's all about right there. Earlier in the season he's being knocked out of the Carling Cup at an early stage by a League Two side in MK Dons.. and later in the same season he's stopping a spot-kick to help his side into the UEFA Cup Final. Unreal. Well played to this guy. He's sat in the shade while McGregor's been grabbing all the headlines and he's never once looked disgruntled about it, always looked happy to bide his time and show his joy when the teams doing well. Then he's finally got his chance and people did worry that we might have lost the ability to have someone between the posts to make that crucial save when it had to be made but Neil's been fantastic. Granted, he's almost had his own script written for him in the sense that shootouts are lotteries, but even those aside he's, for the most part, looked confident whenever coming from a cross and what-not and has barely set a foot wrong. Walter's got a headache if McGregor is fit in time for the final.

Celta Vigo and Stuttgart were poor teams. As were Blackburn and Boavista, and Liverpool weren't exactly at the top of their game either (although winning at Anfield in Europe is an achievement even Celtic deserve praise for). Not one soul can say the likes of Werder Bremen, Sportling Lisbon and Fiorentina (maybe to a lesser extent Pana) are poorer teams than that lot.. and the truth is there's quite a large quality gap.
  14. Not a bad penner in the bunch! How good is Whittaker from 12 yards?
  15. You can come watch it in the Rovers .
  16. To think we almost sold that guy to fucking Coventry..
  17. Tell all the Tims you know, that we're Manchester bound and you're no. We'll be having such fun, in the Rovers Return, While you're squealing that Strachan must go! Suppose I better try and make a topic out of this.. how pissed off will this lot be? Another of their achievements matched by their better half and even surpassed in the sense that we've, in my opinion, had a much tougher route to the final!
  18. Alan Smith's agent has rejected reports linking the Newcastle man with a move to Rangers. Recent reports have suggested Rangers are lining up a swoop for England international Smith in the summer. Rumours over a possible switch to Ibrox for Smith intensified over the weekend after the former Leeds and Manchester United star was spotted at at the Old Firm derby. Smith's representative Alex Black has played down the rumours and says the player is happy at St James' Park. Happy "Alan has no intention of leaving Newcastle, he is happy at the club," Black told skysports.com "All this Rangers talk has come about because he was at a couple of their games. "It was just a coincidence as Alan got tickets for the Old Firm game and he went with a few friends to experience a Rangers v Celtic game as he is a football fan. "Alan is not thinking about anything else but coming back fresh for next season and helping Newcastle to success."
  19. I am genuinely fearful for the first time for our title hopes. The only thing as long as our fixture list is our list of players missing for one reason or another.
  20. RANGERS have reacted angrily to the SPL for failing to help them in their quest for UEFA Cup glory AND denying them a level playing field in their pursuit of the Championship. The governing body today released two fixture models dependent on whether Rangers reach the UEFA Cup final or not. However, scenario one forces them to play three games in six days ahead of the Final and scenario two means four crucial SPL matches in eight days. The last time a Scottish team reached the UEFA Cup Final in 2003, a fixture was moved to give them a full week to prepare. However, the SPL are doing nothing to assist Rangers this time. Rangers will also have the ludicrous situation of returning from Aberdeen on May 23 having to play the Scottish Cup Final the next day. What angers Rangers further is that the SPL have chosen not to extend the season if they don't qualify for the UEFA Cup Final, forcing an unbelievable end to the campaign. Instead of using May 14 and 21 as dates for the outstanding fixtures with St Mirren and Motherwell, they are demanding that Rangers play four games in eight days to complete the season on May 18. Chief executive Martin Bain told rangers.co.uk: "We as a club are really bitterly disappointed in the SPL on all fronts. "It is hardly the best preparation in the lead-up to the UEFA Cup Final - if we get there - to play Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday in advance of that. "So I don't see what the SPL have done for Rangers in terms of aiding them in European competition. They have simply accommodated a fixture "It's all very well for the SPL to go on about Rangers' co-efficient and how it's great for Scottish football but they are doing nothing to assist us. "As for the situation of not being in the UEFA Cup Final, we have been asked to play four games in eight days. "The SPL cite the preservation of sporting integrity in their decision yet Rangers are the only club being asked to play four games in eight days, so there is no sporting integrity. "What we find baffling is that the SPL can extend the season if we reach the UEFA Cup Final but they can't do it from a sporting integrity point of view if we don't. "Why is the season simply not extended to conclude on May 27 regardless?"
