  1. I'd volounteer to help run this but, as is the case with my sporadic articles, I just can't predict my workload or whereabouts that far ahead. Massive respect for stepping up to the plate Zaps #staunch
  2. Never say never....I've just watched Lewis McLeod score the kind of goal Laudrup would be proud of (courtesy of yourself).
  3. Some good points made about an emotive subject here. For what it's worth I feel a bit uneasy about it. One of the things I've enjoyed about Rangers (although I fear a new era has been ushered in) is that we don't rush to make gushing tributes and token gestures about our fallen heroes, that we simply absorb them into our history. Sandy Jardine will always be remembered for what he did for us on and off the pitch, I don't need to take my seat in a stand bearing his name to experience that.
  4. Why oh why did I not just put the 1-0 on.....my record of being a much better tipster than I am a punter continues.
  5. Tempted to predict an Argie win in a last ditch attempt to scoop some points and go 2nd but I can't see past Germany to win it at the bitter end.
  6. I'm going for a North Korea win in the Predictor 4-0 hat-trick for the young lad Yung-Un.
  7. At this stage global press can only help shine a light on the seedy going's on at Celtic Park, Glasgow City Council and the Commonwelath Games Committee. I think it's a fantastic idea.
  8. Judging by what I've just read via twitter Pacific Quay CFC have gotten exactly what they wanted to achieve with their little operation. No doubt there will be plenty of eloquently worded and succinct complaints but I'm afraid they will get dozens of "see you's, you's are a bunch of pure bigots annat" type responses and as sure as eggs are eggs the little crew responsible will have a good laugh. Mission accomplished.
  9. Part of the reason we are seemingly unable to influence BBC Scotland's programming about Rangers despite two Trust ruling that they have misrepresented information about us, is that they are not accountable to anybody up here. Their London & Manchester based masters don't give a shit about them upsetting hundreds of thousands of licence fee payers in Scotland because...well what does it matter? If the referendum goes how it should the BBC in Scotland will be operating under Scots law and be accountable to the very people that they are so obviously trying to provoke. If enough of us could stop bickering long enough to get together, we could push through legislation in Holyrood forcing them to radically alter their present course.
  10. My late great Dad used to say Di Stefano and Jim Baxter were the best players of his day and was one of the 100 and odd thousand at Hampden. I took him to plenty of thrilling matches later in his life but he always compared them to that day.
  11. You'll be shocked to note that I don't agree but I reserve your right to do just that my friend. Nobody is getting their knickers in a twist I don't think and so I'd say let the discussion continue. There's a time and a place and I'd say the off season a couple of months before the biggest decision many of us will make in our lifetimes justifies it.
  12. "They" are the ministers and MP's who've led us from boom to bust financially, who've grossly mismanaged immigration, housing and social welfare, who've led our sons and brothers to their deaths in the thousands in pointless wars and who are now desperately trying to dig us out of a consumer debt crisis by making cuts to public spending and raising the interest rate. That's what we'd have to look forward to and the best you can do is cry defiance and ask for more of the same?
  13. They've allowed us to run every aspect of our society and nation apart from the keys to the till. They trust Holyrood to administer the social landscape, health and education of Scotland but not to spend the money we earn. That is a pat on the head.
  14. You have a solid case for Independence right there in that paragraph, not to mention the huge natural resources and talent that we have at our disposal. A little bit of thinking "outside the box" is all that's required to realise that in the medium to long term we are a viable and potentially prosperous little nation. The short term may bring the kind of economic difficulty that ALL new states encounter but we also have a very clear set of do's and don'ts from the Banking crisis up our sleeve. On another note, I spent yesterday driving round the Firth of Clyde from Helensburgh to Arrochar and then from Dunoon across to Gourock and I had a very real sense of something being not quite right. Faslane and Coulport sit in the idyllic countryside of our nation and over the fence there are real weapons of mass destruction, just sitting there waiting for the call from Whitehall. As an Independent nation we would have absolutely no use for nuclear weapons or submarines and that whole area could be returned to the use of the people who live here, we could re-establish ship building, repair and maintenance yards or other merchant facilities. I've come to see that Scotland is merely a convenient little territory for the ruling elite to house their war machine and in turn we are given our titbits of reward and a pat on the head. From a No voter 6 or 7 months ago to a committed Independence proponent has been a fraught journey but it's been one which has required a bit of soul searching and just plain time. the same could be said for the journey into Independence should the people decide to go for it.
  15. Bravo my friend although I'm more optimistic about the outcome. Recent experience of how our Glasgow (West Scotland) bubble can skew perception as to the real feeling out there has shown me that we shouldn't judge a country of 5.6 million by the actions and rhetoric of the half million or so souls entrenched in narrow minded views.
  16. I'm voting for Independence despite the anti-British under tones of the Yes extremists and in spite of my allegiance to a football club inextricably linked to Unionism. I am pretty depressed at the level of debate in your average pub and forum to be honest...it doesn't really get past football and age old rivalries and that is a damning indictment of our society. The way to change it is to be in control and have a voice that must be heard.
  17. Belgium to beat Argentina and Colombia to beat Brazil double is 16/1 at the bookies.....worth a fiver I reckon.
  18. I've just watched one of the most exciting games in a World Cup for a long time. Even the goalless 90 minutes was exhilarating. Tough crowd!
  19. From 20th to 2nd in the space of a few games....think I've peaked too soon.
