  1. Celtic's massive squad could work against them in a way. We've already seen what choice does to Lennon, he can't help himself from tinkering as if he's playing Football Manager. That and the fact that the defence has not really been improved tells me that they will stutter at some point. On our front, we still have a good spine to the team...no target man so football will have to be played and we are pretty good at moving the ball quickly, as long as Davis, Aluko and maybe Celik chip in with goals I fancy us not to drop many points between now and the end of the season. One thing is for sure, IF we can pull it off it would count as one of the sweetest ever and the potential damage it would do to Celtic fans and the club would be considerable.
  2. I'd be dead against fan ownership from a purely practical point of view. It's a Utopian wet dream.
  3. This could be a dastardly plot to borrow £24.4m of technically unsecured funds from an unsecured creditor before entering administration and then cutting deals with such creditors at vastly reduced terms (or hee haw!) but the fact that (as he claims) the Ticketus deal is underwritten by one of his companies might suggest that's not the case. Either way he has borrowed a lot of money and in this day and age that is a very difficult thing to do. From a business point of view it is a very smart move...he is financing his ownership of Rangers by using someone else's money. That in itself isn't necessarily a bad thing for us but should HMRC rile against us Administration is all but a certainty.
  4. Ally was in charge when we failed to qualify for the CL and then EL against average/poor opponents, this may seem a long time ago but it will have repercussions for a long time yet. IF he did walk I would see it as a cowardly act to be honest. Would anybody seriously want him out if we didn't win the league this season? Much as I don't want to think about that possibility we have no divine right to win anything and in the current HMRC/Murray concocted financial environment, the biggest battles this season will be fought off the park in boardrooms and tribunal hearings than on the park with Celtic for the SPL.
  5. Spot on plus as Ticketus have also said, they conducted due diligence on the deal and are unlikely to part with (allegedly) £24m to a man who has no means of payment. We may actually be in a position to pay a hefty HMRC case loss OR go into administration owing them the cash only to exit by offering pennies in the pound in settlement. Scrupulous? Not in the slightest but smart? Very.
  6. Celtic mindedness aside, I do admire Moyes for what he's done down there with next to investment but he'll go down in my estimation if he pushes Jelavic to force a move at a reduced transfer fee. I still think an(other) club will come in for him with £8m+ on the table.
  7. Typical Algerian/Moroccan sometimes walks through games but wins everything and can finish, composed and clinical. Not a great turn of pace and he likes a tackle! I'd say worth the gamble if we can afford him...(can't believe I've just typed that)
  8. I hope so, I rate El Alagui (from Falkirk) I think he would be one that one flourish playing with better players at a higher level.
  9. Would you play your most valuable asset 3 days before the window shuts?
  10. He wouldn't have played this weekend anyway, no point in picking up an injury this close to the window closing so I think it's just common sense from both Jelavic and the club to be honest. Hope the CSKA story is true and we get proper money for him, they've just sold Wagner Love for about £8m so are short of a striker and have money to spend (as always).
  11. Roll on Tuesday so this circus can get out of town.
  12. One fan made the banner, erected the banner and set off the flares, who do these clowns think they are trying to kid?
  13. Hysterics today about Murray visiting the facility he basically built and that bears his name...so what? Is he going to piss in the water supply or something?
  14. The hand wringers and scare mongers are starting to get right on my tits lately. We are where we are and we will see it through one way or another.
  15. Seems a fair price all things considered although I disagree...he COULD be a star down south but not for West Ham, a decent season 2012 with 15+ goals and he could move on for £10m+.
  16. Rangers Tax Case had a go at Stewart Regan earlier on Twitter questioning the legitimacy of clubs issuing two contracts to players and how that relates to a n SFA mandate to play in UEFA competitions. Regan dismissed it as "if's, but's and maybes" It's clear now that all of these muppets (RTC PMGB etc) know nothing more than the rest of us and have ran their race with regards credibility. It has been quite disturbing the way some individuals have gone about trying to undermine Rangers Football Club.
  17. I would actually have a wry chuckle if it turned out SDM was behind it all and had put Whyte up to stonewall the whole HMRC issue before he steps back in and "rescues" the club. The tims would go absolutely apoplectic as well.
  18. This has cheered me right up anyway Zappa, nice bit of positivity to end a pretty negative weekend with. Cheers
  19. We'd need to basically buy a new first XI every season if we went the bottom up route in England and how long would fans patience last if for example we missed out on promotion from League 1 in 4 years time? Still, the game up here is royally f***ed so it may be a better option in the long run.
  20. I have a sneaky feeling Liverpool will come in late on if they don't get their other targets, worst case scenario for us unless we get someone in before then.
  21. Dropping the case could be a smart move for HMRC if they feel like they can't achieve a complete victory. The door would still be opened to pursue some of the 4,000 other companies who have used EBT's for salaries or bonuses and use the RFC case as a learning experience.
  22. Blue Square Premier and work our way up would be a fine by me, within 4 years we'd be in the Championship and playing Leeds/Notts Forrest/Reading etc, much more competitive than Dunfermline and St Mirren with bigger crowds and better players. From there on in who know's if the fanbase stayed loyal then we could have a proper crack at the Premier League. The real bonus in this scenario is that Celtic would be left behind to win 27 in a row in a Mickey Mouse league.
  23. Another little trinket that tells me that Mr Whyte does indeed have a cunning plan. If I'm way off the mark then I'll hang my head in shame but something tells me that Craigy is a step ahead of most folks when it comes to business. Nothing he done so far tells me anything else...the court cases tell me that he plays hardball at the drop of a hat and isn't afraid to make the big decisions even if it means potential disgruntled ex-employees etc. His first action was to tie up our playing asset on long contracts and since then his hands have been tied by HMRC. Whatever his cunning plan is, I don't see it having a negative impact on the club. People should think about where we would be without him.
  24. The mutants have excelled themselves over this. He was a Rangers fan posing as a Celtic fan until his ex Mrs appeared and confirmed he was both a "junkie" and a Celtic fan (aren't most of them?). Then they turned on each other excluding him from the "Celtic Family". has there ever been a more sinister term?
