"Describing his four-year reign as club chairman as the greatest privilege of his life, Lord Reid said he hoped to be remembered as a fighter who spoke out against unfairness at the Scottish Football Association.

Celtic and the governing body clashed over refereeing standards during a turbulent season last year.

Reform at the SFA achieved what Celtic wanted in terms of accountability and transparency, he added"

Is this guy for real? Transparency?

I despise that man with a passion.

  2. He fits right in with the rest of the lying, shit stirring victims. Shows what kind of position you can get yourself into if you spin the right yarns in the right ears. Maybe we should enlist anti-terror lobbyists and bend their ears about what we have to listen to weekly from the scum?

  3. Quite staggering that in 2011, Scotland that wants to be seen as a modern and progressive Nation with world class education, business and scientific facilities and skills, places such weight on the views of an archaic and irrelevant body as the Catholic Church.

I detest Catholicism as well as all other organised religions, they have brought nothing to the table but conflict, intolerance and abuse and now they want to meddle with the laws of this land. It's embarrassing that people like that are allowed to even sit around the table with the people running our country. By definition these people are anti-democratic, anti-progress and anti-integration. The polar opposite of the values this country is trying to promote.

  4. I couldn't care less about what these hacks want to portray us as, in the end the truth comes out one way or the other and these titles have an ever diminishing shelf life...we'll be around long after the Daily Record or The Sun. People can find out better and more relevant news in 30 seconds through a phone, an iPad or a computer screen now and that's only going to grow. What we are seeing is the final desperate throes of a dying media. Good riddance.

  5. Totally agree with two points above, the gutter press have never been so low and devious and should shoulder some responsibility for stoking up tension and hatred to sell copy. Your average Joe still gets all his news and views from these rags sadly, social new media hasn't reached everybody yet.

  6. The powers that be have made a right Noel Hunt of this alleged Sectarian epidemic nonsense, I don't get what they are trying to achieve at all. It can't be for votes because the critical mass of population in Scotland are confused or just plain ignorant of what sectarianism actually is. If they do come out and define what is and what isn't then all it will do is encourage both sides to push the boundaries and it's back to square one.

    Waste of time and money.

  7. So it's just cringeworthy to utter the words No Surrender no wonder we are getting knocked from pillar to post by everyone and his mate. Jesus Wept

On a Statement which was meant to be taken seriously and highlight the ludicrous reaction to anti-SNP demonstrations and banners it was petty and childish to include No Surrender as a kind of middle fingered signature. Whether the sentiment of that phrase is legitimate or not it looks out of place. What if the Green Brigade issued a statement with Tiochfaidh ar la at the bottom?

  8. He's not got the final ball of Wylde? I hope you're not meaning crossing? While Wylde has improved his crossing recently it can still be described as erratic at best. I'll agree on the pace thing though.

If his crossing wasn't as erratic he wouldn't be at Rangers! It's the biggest weakness in his game but then it seems to be a rare skill these days.

  10. I think this guy could be a player for us but I can't see where he'll fit in, he's not got the pace and final ball of Wylde and he's not going to keep Davis or Naismith out of the side. Just thinking about it we have loads of options really, guess people like McKay will come into their own when those options are diminished by injuries and suspensions.

  11. I just had a wee squint on there to see the reaction to Whyte's latest statement, it's a good laugh reading all the deluded mutants twisted views. The best laugh of all though is that the thread with the most replies is dedicated to us "huns".

I know this is more to do with the justice system than the Police and the SNP but....these kind of scumbags are playing the system like a fruit machine and are roaming the streets committing serious crimes while groups of fans paying big bucks to be entertained and support their team are persecuted and criminalised. Maybe a Justice Committee should be set up to examine how flimsy and weak the system is in dealing with actual crimes?

  13. What a difference to read a well written and impartial piece of journalism as opposed to the sensationalist trash of the red tops. Whyte makes a lot of sense here and his point that the type of companies he gets involved with being failing or failed businesses speaks volumes about the situation that Murray and Bain created for Rangers. It also gives a perspective to the muppets who cite how many companies he has bankrupted or pushed under, it's all relative, if you operate in that kind of distressed marketplace you are bound to lose a few hopeless cases now and then.

He clearly has a Plan A, B and C which is reassuring to learn. Plan A is run the club as is, win the HMRC case and build from there. Plan B is lose the HMRC case, go into administration, become the single secured creditor (in effect becoming the owner of the club again but responsible for taking it back out of administration by negotiating settlements with other creditors), taking the points deduction and building from there. Plan C looks a longer term strategy to change the set up in which Rangers play, whether it be joining a revised English league or an "Atlantic" League and being in a position to invest heavily in the club thereafter.

You could say that Craig Whyte can't lose....in any of the scenarios above he remains in control and in ownership of a worldwide brand with high revenue and exposure. Worst case scenario is we lose the HMRC case, the SPL go nuts and relegate us for not securing agreement with a creditor and we play Hamilton Accies and Queen Of The South for a season.

  14. Liewell gets his pal Regan the top job at the SFA one year later low and behold Liewell has his feet under the table next to him the whole place stinks, they have changed the rules got people the sack lied about tours of Japan cancelled games for a player they didn't really like but played when an ex manager and Celtic Legend dies they can all go and F#*k themselves expect more and more of this shite before we win 4 IAR and win it we will because when it comes to the crunch no matter what they throw at us We Are Rangers and even on our worst day we stand head and shoulders above the lot of them WATP.

Rant over away for my lunch.

Rousing stuff mate, agree with most of it but here's the thing.....according to a childhood and remaining close friend of Regan's (my brother in laws boss) there is no love lost between Regan and anyone at Celtic. The phrase used was "he's had his eyes opened by Celtic" and Celtic have been putting massive pressure on the SFA executive board to have Liewel on board under the auspices of his commercial success with far eastern markets. Whether it's accurate or not I don't know but from what I've heard I would be surprised if Regan and Lawell were a cosy pair in cahoots. I think it's more of an appeasement by the SFA to halt the tide of perpetual complaints and investigations that were happening before Lawell was allowed in.

  15. Would certainly be interesting if they continue to get humped in euro and go 13 behind he has to go, how do they explain him staying, oh it's because the Green Brigade say he's a Provo one of us.

It's an intriguing thought that he could be 2 games away from the sack....from candlelight vigil to lynch mob in 4 months. I'm not sure I even want him to get the sack, he's doing a great job of assembling a side full of gutless journeymen and he swings wildly between describing them as "world class" one week and rubbish the next. Here's hoping we get 3pts tonight first and set the ball rolling.

  16. Not to jump the gun here but what do you guys think would be the reaction from TGFITW to going 13 points behind Rangers IF we win our two games and Hertz do the business on a tired Celtic post Udinese? Do you think Keith Lemon would survive?
