  1. What a difference to read a well written and impartial piece of journalism as opposed to the sensationalist trash of the red tops. Whyte makes a lot of sense here and his point that the type of companies he gets involved with being failing or failed businesses speaks volumes about the situation that Murray and Bain created for Rangers. It also gives a perspective to the muppets who cite how many companies he has bankrupted or pushed under, it's all relative, if you operate in that kind of distressed marketplace you are bound to lose a few hopeless cases now and then. He clearly has a Plan A, B and C which is reassuring to learn. Plan A is run the club as is, win the HMRC case and build from there. Plan B is lose the HMRC case, go into administration, become the single secured creditor (in effect becoming the owner of the club again but responsible for taking it back out of administration by negotiating settlements with other creditors), taking the points deduction and building from there. Plan C looks a longer term strategy to change the set up in which Rangers play, whether it be joining a revised English league or an "Atlantic" League and being in a position to invest heavily in the club thereafter. You could say that Craig Whyte can't lose....in any of the scenarios above he remains in control and in ownership of a worldwide brand with high revenue and exposure. Worst case scenario is we lose the HMRC case, the SPL go nuts and relegate us for not securing agreement with a creditor and we play Hamilton Accies and Queen Of The South for a season.
  2. Rousing stuff mate, agree with most of it but here's the thing.....according to a childhood and remaining close friend of Regan's (my brother in laws boss) there is no love lost between Regan and anyone at Celtic. The phrase used was "he's had his eyes opened by Celtic" and Celtic have been putting massive pressure on the SFA executive board to have Liewel on board under the auspices of his commercial success with far eastern markets. Whether it's accurate or not I don't know but from what I've heard I would be surprised if Regan and Lawell were a cosy pair in cahoots. I think it's more of an appeasement by the SFA to halt the tide of perpetual complaints and investigations that were happening before Lawell was allowed in.
  3. It's an intriguing thought that he could be 2 games away from the sack....from candlelight vigil to lynch mob in 4 months. I'm not sure I even want him to get the sack, he's doing a great job of assembling a side full of gutless journeymen and he swings wildly between describing them as "world class" one week and rubbish the next. Here's hoping we get 3pts tonight first and set the ball rolling.
  4. Not to jump the gun here but what do you guys think would be the reaction from TGFITW to going 13 points behind Rangers IF we win our two games and Hertz do the business on a tired Celtic post Udinese? Do you think Keith Lemon would survive?
  5. Relegation beckons for the woolly wankers.
  6. This is also true, I'm not into the whole summer football bleating but if you equate it with us going into a Euro qualifier in October after playing 7 or 8 games at home (including an Old Firm) you can see what kind of advantage it gives "summer" teams. Against Maribor we were just pish.
  7. If the stupid boots just kept their mouths shut they're would be no problem. :fish:
  8. As others have hinted I think you've got the wrong end of the stick here, I was referring to the change in attitude and performance between then and now. I wasn't doing an ifs and buts routine.
  9. If we played Malmo again this week I'm 100% sure we'd beat them home or away. The CL and Europa exits still sting with me but I can see that it was just too early in the season to step up to that level.
  10. They are obsessed with us! Reid, Lawell, Lennon, Hooper just can't stop commenting on all things Rangers. All sure fire signs of 3rd degree hurt.
  11. How he won Player Of The Year a few back perplexes me...he's inneffective, too injury prone and has is probably the most over rated Scottish player in the last 5 years. No chance.
  12. That's a bit of a moot point mate to be honest, if we had won and progressed you are correct nobody would mention coaching or tactics but defeats show up the problems more than successes and it wouldn't have changed the fact that the Slovenian champions only required one clear chance to score and we needed dozens. Same with Malmo, were they better than us? No, but they weren't far off our level and they made their chances count and we couldn't. Lennon is experiencing the same thing with his mob as well. It's the same domestically we are wasteful with the ball and with chances maybe because we are guaranteed to get 6 or 7 good chances in a game. If we were to be restricted to 2 or 3 per game like Maribor or Malmo were every game we would soon improve the ratio.
  13. I grew up in the 9IAR years as well and winning the league was a minimum to enable access to Europe. Now the small minded view is "as long as we do better than them" but to be honest I couldn't give a monkeys about them other than in Old Firm games. I've always had the impression that they are more interested in us than we are in them but lately I think it's pretty 50/50 which is strange because domestically they have always been and will continue to be in our shadow.
  14. The Scottish game has not progressed in the last 20 years, and by that I mean the style and technique that is coached and bought by our clubs. The game last night highlighted the lack of touch these players have, they have to take two or three touches on the ball before making a pass, meanwhile the opposition seem to be able to zip the ball about between them at will. The number of times we lost the ball in the final 3rd only to watch the ball move effortlessly between their players up the park was frightening, and they are a mediocre team. Championship sides in England have better quality players with better technique and the vast majority of them are British so it's not a problem that crosses the border. The blood and thunder approach to football in this country will only die out if we coach kids better from an early age.

  16. A lot of people need to be honest with themselves before they can "stand shoulder to shoulder" with other fans (like me) who simply have no interest in Loyalism or Unionism but have every interest in Rangers Football Club. We have a disease on our doorstep and an aggressive one at that so, what do we do? We lower ourselves to their tactics and we play right into their hands. A paradigm shift has to take place where we unite behind one thing and that is the football. Dress it up any way you like but Unionism, Loyalism and the politics of Northern Ireland are baggage, baggage that we need to drop to move forward and distance ourselves from the conflicted zombies that blight our society. If people are honest with themselves they might accept that their motivation for being ultra proud and ultra defiant are simply to "get up timmy" that is a well trodden path and is clearly not helping the club or the wider society to progress. Like any addiction, the first step in kicking it is to admit it exists. Over and out
  17. I would have been really pissed off if we had let Wylde slip away for a pittance, the guy has everything it takes to be a proper attacking full back or in front of Wallace/Papac as a more attacking option. I don't see where his final ball is a problem? Do folk expect him to whip a perfect ball in every time?
  18. Alright guys? Just registered so hopefully I'll see you all around the forums soon enough, just saying hello. PS I'm having trouble getting a pic in my avatar. This is what I would like if one of you chappies could fix it for me? http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=acid+house+smiley&um=1&hl=en&safe=off&sa=X&biw=1280&bih=685&tbs=isz:i&tbm=isch&tbnid=7ie-dFEy8oHy4M:&imgrefurl=http://pureclubclassics.blogspot.com/2011/05/pacific-old-pacific-new.html&docid=-YS_7M5IToLHoM&w=128&h=128&ei=mihWTsTdK8yGhQfC5bnfBw&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=358&page=1&tbnh=102&tbnw=102&start=0&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0&tx=58&ty=49 Cheers
