  1. Just in on the wires....Cyanide sales rocket down the Gallowgate way....
  2. McCulloch in defence...? That has to be the most depressing thread title/question/suggestion I've heard in a long time as Gers fan?
  3. The SPL is a joke? No sheet Sherlock. Next you'll be telling me old O'Brien is a beast...
  4. I'm sorry but that doesn't make sense. How is the jury still out? He's won Swansea their first ever trophy (by beating Chelsea and Liverpool on the way btw) so surely that makes him a success regardless of what he's done at other clubs? Just like players, sometimes it doesn't work out for a manager when they move to a certain club. It could be a case of bad timing/circumstance. If Pepe Guardiola is a flop at Bayern, will the jury be out on him? Not in my book. He won the lot at Barca.
  5. No no. My apologies. Reading about a million things at the same time and trying to work....
  6. Agreed but surely he would know that long balls are not going get you anywhere but in the Western Infirmary with a sore friggin neck...
  7. Not sure Govan but budgets shouldn't concern us at the mo. Look at Falkirk. They've developed a young squad of players for nothing that are all comfortable on the ball and have a style of play. When I watched them play celtic last year in the I was very impressed and at the same time embarrassed as it made me think that my own team haven't come close to that in donks. Look at the standard of passing and possession by Falkirk in that game and it will impress you. Remember they put out us and Dundee Utd along the way
  8. Not sure but his career and upbringing surely would suggest that he would embrace passing, technique, possession, innovation etc. Things that look like they've been outlawed at Murray Park at the moment
  9. Can we start by making sure we don't just go down the "good Rangers man" shiete. I would prefer to have people in charge that have no connection to Rangers tbh. Apart from Brian Laudrup of course.....
  10. Good point amms but do you not think we are in a unique position that allows for a balance of just winning and experimentation. I genuinely feel that we could still win these leagues and develop a football ethos at the same time. I sometimes see the "we can't all be Barca" argument when this subject pops up (not from you I may add) and for me that misses the point entirely. At the moment I would merely settle for a team that can bloody pass the ball and enjoys possession. It might not be groundbreaking but let's face it even that would be a huge jump from what we've had to endure under Ally. Oh and I would fine any player that plays more than than 3 high aimless long balls....
  11. I know the subject of a recognisable footballing philosophy may have been covered over the course of various threads but I thought it was pertinent to bring it back to the table after Swansea City's historic win the English League Cup yesterday. When Rangers dropped into the 4th tier many fans (myself included) saw it as great opportunity to reboot the footballing side of our great club. With a short term transfer emarbgo imposed and limited transfer funds/wages at our disposal, Rangers couldn't spend in the way that most fans have been used to over the last 3/4 decades. While many fans might have seen our new found financial status as a negative, I for one. thought it would be herald a new brand of long term thinking inside the corridors of Ibrox. A footballing vision would be the key to our rise back to the top. Long term planning would be on the table for the first time in years without the immediate pressure cooker Old Firm rivalry. After nearly 2 seasons of baffling tactics and some one dimensional football under Ally, I fear that we are not going to learn much from our spell in the lower leagues of Scottish Football. Yesterday I watched Swansea pick up their first ever trophy under Michael Laudrup. This was almost 10 years after they nearly dropped out of the entire Football league. I use the Swansea example as they are a club that have recently set out a vision for what they want to acheive and (almost as important) how they want to acheive it. Their current manager and their last 2 managers have established an ethos of passing and possession football. They've gained plaudits, have risen into the lucrative EPL and have more than held their own using this admirable philosophy. This was in turn driven by a Chariman with a vision and the balls to stick by his guns. They didn't spend buckets of cash to do this and are one of many recent examples of what can be acheived by teams adopting a vision. If you're not too busy sealing commerical opportunites (or at least talking about them...), please take note Mr Green. Much could be learned from Swansea City. Our crowds have been out of this world this season but you simply cannot keep asking the fans to pay decent prices for a poor, poor product. Loyalty is one thing but IMO we also need something to believe in
  12. I have to agree with the OP 100%. Rangers are a football team and that's what they should always be. If you want to spout about your political/religious views, by all means be my guest but please do it in your own wee world. Please don't use Rangers as your vehicle to promote them
  13. I am sure they are tbh. £5.5 million for what is potentially a very profitable and sustainable club/business, was a steal IMO
  14. I had to laugh when I read an article the other day. They were comparing Ratzi to John Paul II and PJ2 was somehow coming off as some saintly "liberal" Pope. Mmmm...check this so called saints track record on Africa, contraception, gays, Opus Dei, women and worst of all child abuse . It's frightening to be honest. The sooner the world takes a torch to the Christian Theme Park ie. The Vatican, the better for everyone. The riches accumulated alone would feed the "flock" they are so concerned about 10 times over
  15. Even still, the fact that we were paying our reserve keeper that amount in the first place is bewildering
  16. I have to agree. If Alexander is on 16/17k a week it seems like we have learned little from our recent finacially disasterous past
  17. Did you hear the old dear's excuse. He doesn't have the energy anymore. What for? Spreading your homophobic and prehistoric views? Hopefully he might use his last years trying to find the 21st Century....
  18. I'm sure the usual wheels of motion will be put in place as we speak at the BBC to help paint a far more negative take on this
  19. is it not time we just banned everyone associated with BBC Scotland from Ibrox? They need us more than we need them
  20. There is problably some truth in this tbh but that just makes this clown even more pathetic than he already is. Maybe there is some mad mahnk behind the scenes at C4?
  21. Seriously... what the frig is Thomsons problem? He probably had no interest in Rangers, Scottish Football and football in general during his stint as a reporter but all of a sudden this muppet makes Rangers his lifes meisterwork. What an odd little man
  22. Does this mean Alexander and his reported 16k a week are oot the door?
  23. Jesus. I remember supporting Rangers was about getting excited about watching 10 guys in blue and one guy in yellow run onto the pitch. Now we have to monitor the certain shares and their values. Call me an ostrich or a dinosaur but this stuff is what leaves me cold about modern football
  24. When I read the title, I was kind of hoping we were going to use Springsteen's The Rising as an intro song at Ibrox....
  25. Agreed Govan. I'm feekin sick of all these excuses. We've been shapeless and poor since Ally has been charge tbh. 2 home victories against them last season seem to have rendered many fans blind to what is a actually going on...or what is not going on. Regardless of personel, we should have a blueprint, a style of play, a philosophy but after a year and a half we look as if we are going backwards. Amatuers have passed us off the park on occassions this season FFS
