New management team: Mark Warburton and David Weir
Mountain Bear replied to gisabeer's topic in Rangers Chat
As one of the journos on Sportsound pointed out last night, those who make the most noise about a role in public, seldom land it in the end. -
11 players released including Boyd and McCulloch

Thanks Zappa. I hadn't read the reports from that game. Hopefully that was a one-off! -

I suppose that's true, but it must be particularly galling to be 4th in line behind 3 journeymen if you're even half decent. -

I keep hearing how good a keeper Liam Kelly is. Well with 2 reserves out of the picture and Bell hardly covering himself in glory, it'll be interesting to see whether he gets (and takes) his chance in pre season. -
Yes, I read that today and thought it was a very odd thing to say. If it's accurate...

It's debatable who provoked who. If I'd genuinely wished someone good luck and they told me to f**k off, I'd say that's where the provocation started. Now, I've no way of knowing whether that's the way it happened in reality, but I understand that's what Erwin said and to be honest, given Moshni's record of impetuosity and stupidity, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if it was true. Well done to McCulloch and the Gers fans for keeping their heads when all around were losing theirs though.

Ticket farce proves that Rangers have no sporting integrity
Mountain Bear replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
He thinks 950 out of 51k is just over 1% and I'm expected to take his opinion seriously? I hope he's not sitting Standard Grade Maths tomorrow... -
IMHO, he worked his socks off yesterday GS. He's one of a tiny handful of players in the team with any creativity and I'd take him in a heartbeat in midfield or as a 10 behind a lone striker. Granted he's probably more effective in the latter role though.

I know that BH was disappointed and a little embarrassed about the final numbers, but I had a thoroughly enjoyable and informative evening, as I think did all those who attended. Thanks and well done BH - it's far from easy to arrange these events at the best of times, but you did a sterling job in trying circumstances. It was good to see some old faces again and to meet Simply the Best for the first time. Unlike certain ex-directors, he didn't turn up with any minders and he took the gentle ribbing about Charles Green in good humour. Top man. The quality of food and service was excellent too. I'll admit I was a bit concerned beforehand about exactly what we'd get for £10 over 3 courses, but it was simply outstanding value. We do seem to make life tough for our guest speakers though. This time, The Rangers Historian (who was excellent), had to put up with the noise of what sounded like a Hoover during his talk, but I suppose that's better than having to dodge the contents of an audience member's stomach... So, those who didn't turn up missed out big style. Hopefully we can do it all again near Christmas with a bigger attendance and more certainty around dates in advance. I'd certainly go back to the venue again.

Result of the Venue of the 3rd Semi-Annual Gersnet Dinner

Long story but I'm in a similar boat to GS; still no access to a PC and unable to vote via my smartphone. Could you add one to the Malaga Tapas total please BH. Thanks. -
Rangers: 'Legal action would target Dave King' - Sandy Easdale
Mountain Bear replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Good luck with that Sandy. Drumming up business for Whyte's mates at Worthington perhaps? They've fallen on hard times recently. -

Either that or we come (back) to Glasgow for the dinner with a slightly later start on the Saturday? -

I've just realised that for those fortunate enough to benefit from it, the 23rd is a bank holiday weekend. Perhaps we should just go with the 16th come what may (excuse the pun)? -

Absolutely interested in attending again BH. As I said last time it's increasingly looking like they will be season highlights in terms of the matchday experience. I can't make 9th of May as I'll be heading north for a week in the hills, but any of the other suggested dates would work for me. -

Old board tried to dip into the youth Development Fund cash
Mountain Bear replied to chilledbear's topic in Rangers Chat
Whatever they were up to, I can't imagine it was good news for Rangers, given the timing and the sense of urgency / frustration they gave Colin. I don't think even my worst nightmares would feature a return of the previous Board though. -
Who Is In The Frame To Manage/Coach Rangers FC?
Mountain Bear replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Quite a bit of support for Cathro out there (rightly in my view), but King didn't sound all that wild about a DoF role. Magath or McCall would be good interim appointments until the end of the season, if the previous management team are now easier to deal with and a settlement can be reached. -

Hats off to Colin, quite rightly. The bigger question is why were Lambias and Leech so desperate to access the money so close to the EGM result and what were they going to do with it? I hope we don't find that the remainder of Ashley's first £5m loan has been extracted from the bank in some bizarre scorched earth policy. -

Yesterday was a very good day. Started a new job, which means I'll be able to make mid week games for the first time in a while; came into a little bit of money which means I can afford to up my subscriptions to RF / BR; but most importantly of all, I saw my beloved Rangers returned to the leadership of people who are motivated by the Club's interests, rather than their own. It's great that in our own small way, the good folk of Gersnet contributed to yesterday's EGM result. We can allow ourselves a short celebration (and my head tells me I celebrated too long), but the real work starts now. For ordinary fans that means filling Ibrox for the remainder of this season, whether or not performances and results improve. I really hope we all retain the current optimism when we hit the inevitable bumps in the road ahead. I don't think it's going to be an easy ride, but at least we're heading in the right direction.
