  1. I'm not convinced this set-up is the fairest, but being in League C (and in what, on the face of it, looks like a pretty easy group) gives us an excellent back-up chance for Euro 2020 qulification. If we can't make the finals this time, there really is no hope!
  2. Yeah, I seem to remember something about that being brought up, maybe up a couple of years ago (penalty + sending off + suspension being deemed too harsh a punishment) not sure where (or if it was ever) adopted though. Lewis wasn't even booked though, which I'd say was a definite case of over-leniency.
  3. No he didn't. Could easily have been a red, but nothing was given.
  4. I suppose that was on the cards given our last three performances - you can only get away with it so many times. In a way, more disappointing than Hamilton, since we had the lead. Once again out-fought by a team we should be able to comfortably out-play.
  5. Castle Greyskull is from the Masters of the Universe cartoon - but it's a typically f*cking stupid attempt at an insult since that's actually where He-Man and the good guys are based. Skeletor and the villains in the story hang out on Snake Mountain - which I would imagine to be somewhere in the scummy East End of Eternia. Sorry - I'm of the right age to have soaked all that nonsense up.
  6. The best result for us tomorrow would be for a meteorite to strike the centre-circle of Easter Road at 12:35.
  7. At halftime my expectations of getting anything out of that game were absolutely zero, so I actually feel pretty up-beat at the moment. Got away with an all-too-familiar sloppy showing.
  8. Compo is one of my favourite Gersnet posters, but I never realised he had so much influence in boardroom matters!
  9. A wee bit naughty, but there's no real harm in what they're doing there. Boys will be boys.
  10. An old boy tried to make that point at the in the Q&A at the AGM, but it wasn't that well received by the crowd. (That wasn't you was it Compo!?)
  11. It appears that r_s is insisting on using the word "disenfranchise" in the abolutely literal sense (i.e. to deprive someone of the right to vote) rather than addressing the point that you and JohnMc are clearly trying to make - presumably just to be annoying.
  12. That was grim today. Up until now it seemed like Murty had a knack for motivating the players, and getting good, positive performances out of them. Not this afternoon - back to the worst kind of half-hearted stuff. Loose passing which puts us under pressure, bad finishing, and a lack of fight. A complete lack of a winning mentality.
  13. Obviously it's being taken too far if teachers are getting suspended for accidentally offending someone. The point of the laces thing is to stand up for folk who are getting threatened and abused. I don't think the teacher of school's religion has a lot to do with this though. The Church of England has just made announcement about how kids at their schools should be treated with regard to gender identity - so it's perfectly possible to be Christian and open-minded on this matter.
  14. Teachers are a lot more on top of that kind of stuff these days - School children get much more protection from bullying, and most of the kids themselves are more understanding of others' disabilities, etc. (Far more so than when I was a school at least). I think you could reasonably argue that it's perhaps gone too far and that nowadays kids are coddled at school - but it's definitely a damn site better environment than my day.
  15. The point isn't the ever-expanding categorisation (or non-categorisation - whatever) of genders. It's that folk should be able to enjoy playing and watching football regardless of that aspect of their identity. They should be able to do so without getting hassled or verbally abused. What's controversial about that? And I'm happy to tell the kids in my family that they shouldn't give people grief for looking or behaving differently.

Well the superstore was doing great business yesterday. Absolutely chokka with folks buying kit.
  17. I agree we should have done more to turn the screw on them. Windass took his goal well, but it was a perfectly timed gift from Thistle. Without it I suspect the second 45 would have turned out to be quite a bit more stressful.
  18. Silhouettes of soldiers I think - seemed like the black bits didn't properly unfurl.
  19. I was wondering that. I'm at the opposite end so I couldn't make much out other than them getting huckled.
  20. I'm not going to give the OP too much of a hard time for not being up-to-speed with the intricacies of what's deemed sectarian language - it's a mess of a minefield, and I sympathise with anybody who just wants to watch a game of football and have bants with rival fans. However - it's Celtic fans that started calling foul on this stuff, started playing the victim card, running to the authorities with their offended-by-everything crap. I can take a slagging as long as I'm allowed to dish one out back, and as far as I'm concerned if the F word is outlawed the H word should be treated the same way. The fact the authorities treat the words differently is what pisses me off here. Also - if a word is offensive IMO no-one should be allowed to say it, not even to self-apply it. Otherwise the whole attempt to rid the language of it is undermined. That's how I feel about the N word.
  21. Do we have to have a discussion about the meaning of the word "within" now?
  22. Well in that case you clearly put the apostrophe in the wrong place didn't you?
  23. Got to hand it to union; he certainly has his finger on the pulse - when it comes to disruption and hassle for Rangers.
