  1. I generally just call them anti-Rangers and leave others to work out what type of person I'm talking about. The use of any language deemed sectarian by the authorities (correctly or otherwise) detracts from any argument you try to make in public. You're better off ditching it.
  2. Obviously, the secrecy surrounding Green's bid is far from ideal. We know that ticketus were sniffing around the TBK bid so it's not beyond belief that they are surruptiitiously trying to get their money back via Green. But there are valid reasons why genuine investors would want to remain anonymous - for example a businessman who invested could expected to be boycotted by the anti-Rangers. If the information of how much each party (named or not) had put forward, and what return they expected were provided I'd have a lot more confidence in purchasing a season ticket. As it stands, I'm going to have to pay up anyway, and keep on worrying.
  3. A few minor inaccuracies, but the best even-handed write-up I've seen of the situation. And the fact that it's from The Times adds a lot of weight. This should be circulated as much as possible. I'll be using it to shut a few people up.
  4. Technically the SFA could withhold the share, but it would be a transparently malicious act. They'll attempt to form SPL2, but by the sounds of it the SFL1 clubs will stand firm and force them to back down. What will follow is anyone's guess. Yet more uncertainty...
  5. I'm going to say St. Mirren.
  6. I'd argue that would be for the short-term good of Scottish football. It's going to take something a bit more severe than a speedy return to the status quo to give the Scottish game a bright future.
  7. So Regan's opinion on whether or not RFC should get their SFA share is dependent on what the SFL teams vote for? That's shocking. His train of thought is clearly that he only wants us to survive if there's a financial benefit for the SPL. If he can't use us to save the various lucrative SPL deals then he's decided he may as well shaft us royally.
  8. The population of the Netherlands is over three times greater than that of Scotland, which translates to more than three times the interest in the league, and far more than three times the value of the matches. The relationship between these things aren't linear.
  9. I think everyone would acknowledge there's bigotry on both sides. But, aside from that, there are a good number of Celtic fans who are convinced that any time they lose it's due to some conspiracy against them. Clearly the current state of affairs proves that wrong. (Incidentally it's not the idea of a rigged system that bothers them - just one where it's not rigged in their favour.)
  10. I wish we could separate our football team from this stuff. Whatever your beliefs might be, they're not going to be proven correct by someone kicking a ball into a net. Politics and theology are great topics for debate, but a football stadium is not the place for it.
  11. I love the wikipedia - the problem is it can be deliberately twisted. It's Stephen Colbert's idea of "Wikiality": http://wikiality.wikia.com/Wikiality "A reality where, if enough people agree with a notion, it becomes the truth."
  12. This metaphor is being stretched to a dangerous level... So, is it a duck in a gorilla suit? Maybe it can be unmasked in Scooby-doo-esque finale...
  13. Christ, I hope not! Isn't his first fallback the SPL2 plan which he can do without the SFL clubs' vote? He'd have to get 9 to agree to join admittedly...
  14. You'd have to cast a Scotsman as Coisty, so I'd say James McAvoy. Whyte has to be Rick Mayall.
  15. Sheer specualtion, but maybe there would be potential of a merger in the future - leading to what we all want: EPL football at Ibrox. It's never going to happen though. We can but dream.
  16. Maybe. They might find themselves getting first team football though - that might encourage them to stay.
  17. Remember, Di Stefano also maintained that the King of Qatar was going to buy us while in administration. He just wants to be talked about.
  18. How can so many clubs have allowed themselves to become financially dependent on the Old Firm's existence? So, we have to be punished, but we're still obliged to generate a significant chunk of their income? Sporting integrity my arse! How sporting of them to leech off our popularity and success. We are to be punished for supposedly living outside our means, yet a large proportion of Scottish clubs can't continue without the means we create for them. What an absolute joke!
  19. I hope the same people who are campaigning for us to restart in Div3 will also bear in mind that we'll need loyal support who back up their talk with money to see us through the next 4 years. If we all pay the normal ST price, but the club pays the appropriate level of player wages until we're back in the top flight the club will be minted by the time we return. My plan for SFL3 would be to put a squad of good SFL1 quality players together until we reach that level (2 years); then sign decent quality SPL players in the push for promotion; then there should be enough money to build on that to make an SPL winning squad. As long as we continue to support. I'm kind of looking forward to it. It's like when you get fed up winning too easily on a computer game, so you start over with a new guy that hasn't got all the power-ups to make it more of a challenge.
  20. I don't think any of them will actually fold. A few may go into admin and have to down-scale, but they'll come out via a CVA. I wouldn't like to owe any of them money at the moment. But, as I said to a worried St. Mirren fan at work yesterday, the best time to go into admin is in a season when other clubs in the same league do. You're more likely to survive a 10 point penalty if your rivals have to take one too.
  21. So the chairmen in the audience's thoughts were along the lines of; "Hmmm, re-admitting Rangers to the SPL would prevent the financial meltdown of the game in this country... but this pamphlet looks a bit crappy, and this Malcolm fellow seems full of himself... Got to be a no." Ridiculous.
  22. Logicallt speaking, you're correct, but it'll go down to a vote. We're about to find out how much logic there is left in Scottish football.
  23. It would be good to get some money, but I think any offers we get now would be greatly reduced. The obvious positive side of this is that we can now run with a vastly reduced wage bill. If we got to Div3, and if a decent crowd keeps showing up (I'm going to be there) by the time we get back into the top flight we could have built up a very healthy looking bank balance.
  24. Is it any dafter than the notion that we shouldn't support him - without any clear evidence of why not, or who we should support instead? The moment he does something wrong he'll lose my support and I'll look to an alternative.
  25. It is a pretty sad state of affairs. I wonder if there's any other country in the world where the champions fly the flag of a foreign nation.
