I was talking to a mate about this... but as strange as it sounds, I think the best draw for us would be 2 glamour games (eg Man U and Real) and then a poorer wee team from pot 4. That way we get the exciting big teams, maybe get a point at Ibrox vs one of them, and leaves us with a home win and an away draw against seed 4 and make it into the europa league! less chance of the big teams failing against the small team. Maybe not the most optimistic, and I know Weiss was talking about last 16... It would be great to get to the quarters or so, and keep doing that regularly of the europa league... although the strain that would put on the squad for the league campaign could be a concern!

on a comical side note, I think he seems to have the stature of Hateley, and the hairstyle of McCoist circa 1992/93... could be a great omen :spl:

That was what surprised me more about this announcement... We couldn't offer Novo 2 years, but McCulloch we can? Unless its just the timing of it all? Or maybe Novo wasn't as loyal as he made out? I mean it took "minutes" to sort out lee's deal. I doubt it, but there has to be some sort of explanation to this puzzle... -

Miller has been a standout in preseason, and has to me displayed why he is indispensable with our squad the way it is. If 2 strikers of better quality were to be brought in I could understand it, but better the devil you know. We know he will get goals and play well. new signings, you never know!

Wow, if this is the rule, I'm surprised it is not used more frequently... I mean there are plenty of folk who could sign a deal a year in advance... and for players going to a bigger club, you'd imagine that they'd be too important to not play for a year. Not sure if we can wait a year, but it's interesting to know about the rule...

so can he simply "inform" rapid that he is talking to us and then sign a deal starting next year NOW? where as he wouldnt have to tell them if there were 6 months left? or would he need rapids consent to speak to us?

Lafferty must step up if he deserves to wear the number 11... Can't remember who all has worn it, but I know Albertz did well with it, and then Adam had it did he not? Not sure who had it inbetween them, but it has never been a true '11' as tradition would dictate. I recall McCann wearing 18, the closest to an 11 I recall in the past decade... oh for a Laudrup or a Cooper to magically promote themselves from Murray Park...

didn't we get a �£3.5m bid for boyd with 6 months left on his contract? Not to mention how much hamburg got off man city for de jong who also had 6 months left...

also, bookies look after themselves. So maybe it's all the punters that see lennon as their saviour, plus neutrals backing them because of our financial situation. Probably was the same last year too. Means nothing to me, roll on the new season!

Well that's that signing confirmed. I wonder why a trial (in which they know he can't play in either of the friendlies) is necessary? Also, how long do work permit applications take? Surely not a good idea to delay signings waiting on the outcome of the application?

0-0 full time. got to watch the last 10 mins and looked pretty rough. unfortunately the only thing we seemed to get out of the game was a couple of injuries. McCulloch I saw, but sounded like Miller too judging by what the commentators were saying.

was surprised to see �£400k mentioned though. Would Hamilton have agreed that price with us? Young Scottish players are always a plus to have in your team, but would much rather they were coming out of Murray Park. Big year for the ethos of promoting from within!

Is this just scaremongering? Why are banks letting the likes of Barcelona, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Man U to carry the debts, but not us? Our level of debt isn't that unmanageable is it? well it soon will be if they continue to cripple us this aggressively!

He'll most likely be loaned out. It's probably them with an eye on the new Home Grown Players Rule... (If that's going ahead) and the lack of English players they currently have! Any guesses as to where he'll be loaned out?

Where did you hear that? And does that make his choice of 66 at Rangers significant? 66-67? If so, that is pretty shocking, but at least we're getting �£2m possibly �£5m for him...

I still fail to see how Novo couldn't have been given a new deal. I understand that Smith needed 1st team football, and the Thomson deal, the Boyd thing seems to be more self-orientated... But who could we sign that would have been better than Nacho? especially with the all-so-public financial limitations...

McArthur would probably be worth "more" because of the game time he's received. I think he seems a decent player, but thought this is a likely deal as he seems to be a player Walter likes. Seems strange we're looking at Holman as he sounds like his position is that which would be best suited to fleck... Interesting summer... roll on the actual football!
