  1. Tommy Smith, still? Ffs he is crap, don't rate him at all.

    Eagles price now £2.5m .

    Agreed.

Sounds like the Lafferty deal which went up and up... 3, 3.5, 4.... Also did I not see somewhere that the Thomson transfer fee was reducing? Thought I saw £1.5m somewhere!

I'm still excited at getting a new player in, but if it was Tommy Smith that feeling may change!!

  2. quite interesting , he gets slaughtered for not talking and then when he does talk he gets....slaughtered ...funny bunch us Rangers fans

I appreciate the point you are making, although it is just sound bites at the moment. At least he has finally said something, and most of what he has said seems to be fairly straight forward.

  3. I may get hounded for saying this... but I understand why they are doing this. There are all sorts of things that can get printed on shirts that have hidden meanings and ulterior motives. (i am not accusing of anyone here of that!) however, some of the people that are working in Rangers store may not be aware of the subtleties. As a result, it is easier to just have a blanket rule "Gers Players Names Only" and then the club doesn't look like it's endorsing things like "Big Jock Knew" etc...

I agree common sense should prevail when it comes to names e.g. first and second names, however, anything else should be at a managers discretion.

    Harder to implement online perhaps?

To sum up, I understand the logic, but it is poorly implemented in my opinion!

  4. I don't know much about Chris Brady, but from the way he has been quoted, he does sound like an objective outsider, and seems to make some steady points. One thing he highlighted, which is disappointing to hear but sadly true, is the lack of international recognition. This is somewhere Murray has failed miserably, particularly with the short-sighted JJB deal. We are a non-entity internationally, despite having such a huge fan base. It's not the people who are already fans, it's the potential fans and the publicity/higher profile we are lacking. e.g. walking into a sports store in America and what football tops (if any) do they have? Man U, Arsenal, Barca, Real, Inter... and sadly the green and grey.

  5. I'll get my dad to write to walter. Turns out Smith used to travel to the games from carmyle, and my grandpa used to be on the committee for the supporters bus that my dad got from there. There's about a year between them, so a good chance that "wee watty" could be the man that would grow up to be a rangers legend.

If this is true, I'll get my dad to get the scoop for you ;)

  6. Anyone know what the longest thread is Gersnet history? or longest lasting? I feel this thread almost deserves to have any big news either way as opposed to a new one starting... But you will be afraid to check this afternoon by the time it reaches page 70... who knows what is in store?!

  7. had to laugh at seeing "bacon roll" in print attached to a story like this!

    Well done Nacho!

And well done and good luck to Steven. Total gent of a guy I had the pleasure to meet as he probably was going off on his stag do looking at the timing of it now! We would be painful to watch without him!

  8. The Fifa predictor isn't quite the same as the BBC one. I prefer the BBC one as it is simple and consistent, here is a link to the FIFA scoring/rules:

    Clicky

I saw a thing about a wordpress plug-in for the BBC styled WC Predictor... but that's where my online techy knowledge fails! here is the link to its page!

  9. What was with the "John Higgins cheat" banner ?

John Higgins is a big C*lt*c fan (He used to practice at a club a good bear i knew went to and was friendly with him. Sam kindly got signed photos (just after his first World Championship win) for me and my bro when we were younger and Sam took great pleasure in telling him we were brought up well :rfc: and of course it was no coincidence that he used a green pen!)

Anyway, JH has been involved in a big betting scandal involved in throwing frames for money as the chinese bet big on individual frames apparently. Must have been related to that! Regarding the snooker, sorry to see Dott couldnt get his 2nd world title!

  10. It was the fact that they were perpetuating the myth of "the greatest fans in the world" yet slating us for things that have received unfair media coverage that annoyed me. eg Barcelona, where (imho) some fans were a little bit of an embarrassment, but the "mess" the "city" was left in, was in concentrated areas mainly public ones where there was not suitable provisions for the volume of people, in particular with regards to the litter generated. And any trouble (that I saw) was in retaliation to pick pockets!

  11. Now #7 on the iTunes chart and #2 on the Amazon chart...

Celtic at #16 so they're making a good challenge here!

Hmmm... a little surprised at how quickly their attempt rose... considering we were in the 40s, then the 30's... and kept climbing, they seem to have shot in pretty quickly...

This is so petty! I hope folk don't try and do this all the time, and more than that, i hope THE BEST gets to NUMBER ONE :rfc: :spl: :rfc:

  12. maybe he was inspired...?

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YAWKjMSDaI&feature=related]Lafferty song?[/ame]

In all honesty, I am not impressed at such an arrogant celebration considering it was only the third time he'd scored this season. And that is as a forward. I know its good to have confidence, but one good shift and one good goal does not mean he has made it. Mind you, he is a Gers fan, and he may never score for us again... so why not enjoy it??
