  1. currently backpacking europe and in italy - but shall be in deutschland next week :D

is it possible to go watch them train? got to meet them after a training session in toronto when i was over living with family 2 years ago and was awesome... was hoping to do the same this year!

  2. well I leave for brussels on thursday and then I plan to back-pack round europe until i need to be back for something at university in August...

The plan was to stop by Germany for some of the trip!

I was staying with family the summer the gers went to Toronto, and i went downtown one day and got to see them train and meet a few of the players etc - it was really amazing :D

I was wondering if anyone knew where the Gers will be based for the training camp?

  3. If the tims do get naismyth, i think that will be the final straw for alot of fans, and will open the eyes of many others.

considering they have already signed Killen and MacDonald to add to all the strikers they already have suggests that they are spending alot of money on a squad player. we aren't spending ANY money - not even to add much needed quality to the 1st team.

combine that with the fact we were all set up to believe that the brown deal was a cert (think the papers called it "the worst kept secret in scottish football") and we just couldnt compete with them financially. (leaving out the debate of whether he was worth that much or not) This will not sit well with the support.

  4. Im not too keen on it... no where near as smart as some of the tops we've had in the past - but I hope it does grow on me and it becomes a top that is remembered as a successful one

  5. for a club that should be one of the biggest in the world, we are fairly falling behind :( and we cant use the SPL/Scotland as an excuse, cos like some of the other boys have verified, celtic tops are all over the place!

  6. Can someone please remind me what the deal with the production, design, marketing and selling of the "rangers brand" is?

I read today that celtic are getting £5m a season from nike - i just wonder if we are getting anywhere near as much, and what the benefits are of what we are doing.

My dad was recently in Toronto and while my mum and sister were away shopping in the malls, my dad went into the sports store's looking for gers tops, and speaking to the guys in the shops to see if they knew anything about us. Unfortunately its all "man u, chelsea, celtic and liverpool" and such like, that have the profile. When we were over in america it was a pretty poor attendance and you have to worry about how our profile is around the world - not with the ex-pats (once a ranger, always a ranger) - but with potential new fans. see man u and celtic with korean players (JS Park) and the japanese and polish boys.

You see peter lawwel or whoever the tims have shooting his mouth off about how big a club they are world wide and we just seem to be downsizing. even the new kit in my opinion is a pretty unprofessional looking thing (the white diamonds on the shoulder being lopsided for a start!) and stupid strips like that (and changing the appearance so much regularly) affect the image of the club! the pars looked dead smart in their new addidas kit, and the aberdeen top looks good too, but seeing our one in the champions league?! the badge doesnt look out of place, but its almost as thought its been put on an amateurs kit!

I guess its more a concern at the image and branding of rangers world wide, but i think the fact that we cut ties with the likes of addidas and nike have hindered us on the global market, and we may be making more money in the UK but what about world wide...

  7. surely we should be looking for a keeper who is going to push mcgregor for the number 1 jersey?

it just annoys me seeing us linked to sign mediocre players when we already have an abundance of them at ibrox...

  8. Now i dont mean to suggest that we should be a selling club, but it really is no surprise we are in the financial mess we are in and cant afford to spend money on players now when you think of the lack of income from transfer fees.

in the last 5 years, the only player i can think of that we have sold for any money was BF. and we bought him back!

the rest have either gone on freedom of contract (think how much we should have got for the likes of shota and lovenkrands on contracts) or even more bizarrely we have paid off players to leave! or taken nominal fees just to punt the rubbish.

Now a 21 yr old has just gone for 4.5m and there is talk of gordon signing for 8m. think how much money hearts and hibs are getting right there?!

talk of a 1.5m move for naismith (very good player in my opinion) another 21 yr old... how much do we let our 21 year olds go for? if they are not good enough, why are we wasting money producing them? either that or surely we can sell them to the championship for a wee bit of money?!

  9. Is Webster not fit by now? surely Smith will want to see him in action for us if he's thinking of signing him?

I reckon he'll get a start probably next to weir.

  10. Funny to see that actually! We were linked under Eck, and again not surprisingly under PLG and now its Smith who's signed the boy!

Seems they are touting him as one of the top bosman's this year, and we have a reasonable track record of getting them in. Here's hoping its a good one!

Anyone know any more on the boy?

  11. lol - nice and early, but at least we are definitely in the qualifiers now :D

Any idea when the seville run in the uefa cup stops counting towards c*****'s co-efficient points? Thats been the major difference in recent years in that table...
