  1. Regarding "legal action", did Man U ever go to court with the BBC over the Sir Alex thing? Or was it a work to rule he did? Could that be an option for us? If we need to send somebody, have a youngster go out and speak? or have a full "press conference" and follow that up with a private one where we actually do the talking?

  2. Surely these sort of crimes (see Zander Diamond et al) should be dealt with this type of punishment. It's not a crime as such in my eyes, but giving back to the community surely means something beneficial for society right? As for the rights/wrongs of the fact he got singled out, I'll not open that can of worms in case I end up picking up rubbish in Kelvingrove Park for it!

  3. The student tickets had to be bought in person with a currently valid matric card (sorry 26th!), so you wouldn't be able to buy online. Saying that you're right that there is no mention of student discount for the hibs game :(

  4. I'm sure you all get the emails from the club about buying your ticket for the next home game...

But for the Killie game a few weeks back I noted that they were (finally) offering student discount. I say finally as a course mate got a student discount on his season ticket for another Glasgow club.

Anyway, turned out I got the use of my supervisors ticket, but I went along to the game with 2 mates from uni (one a Gers fan and another a Hammers fan) and must say it was fantastic value at £12 per student ticket! Cheaper than a game at Firhill the West Ham fan noted!

Not sure if this was just because it was a midweek game, or a trial, but a very good move either way. This sort of thing will always encourage new fans visiting Glasgow for university so hats off to the club. I just hope it was not a one off for the occassions I don't get my boss's season book! (anyone know where to find the clubs policy on this?)

  5. Didn't we get our first choice manager this summer? Then there was Walter before that and PLG before that, Eck before that, Advocaat before that, Walter before that, Souness before that. Go back before that and Wallace was our third choice. Greig was our first choice before that, Wallace before that...

So you should probably be asking when was the last time we didn't get our first choice and as far as I can see that would be about 27 years ago...

Very good! I chose the word "target" as I was alluding to our successful summer so far. And those have only been the players we've heard about. You're right about the managers though. Some good and bad times in there!

  6. The individual clubs will retain their good(ish) coefficients. The national coefficient going down will mean more qualifiers for us and celtic, but we should be seeded well above them and would be expected to beat them. What this will do is remove the poorer scottish clubs dragging the coefficient down as I believe that only Aberdeen have pulled their weight in national contributions.

I did some charts last year to demonstrate where the "old firm" would be vs "non-old firm" teams and compared that with where Scotland actually is. Rangers and Celtic would be one of the top 4 or 5 I'm sure it was.

Overall I'd say it's bad news, but every cloud and all that...

  7. I guess the Goodwillie transfer has been complicated by interest from another club...

I heard someone suggest if we'd not been so derisory with our first offer, hearts wouldn't have been as difficult to deal with and a better deal for us could have perhaps been made.

It could just be the publicity that is different thesedays, but if we'd offered the £2m up front then we'd have saved the need for the add ons which could bring the deal to £3m!

    Who knows what's right? :)
