  1. Green suggested at a fan meeting earlier this year that UEFA would be sympathetic to an earlier return to us should the issue arise.

Green suggested a lot of things at fan meetings - not all of them were correct!

  2. He was with the club for several years, yet failed to break into the 1st team. There were suggestions that the management team held onto him coz "they could see something in his play". Laterly, he eventually got a few games & showed up pretty well (from memory) & got himself a couple of goals but I'm unconvinced on the whole.

I don't think he would really add anything to our team, when we have guys who can play on the left wing. I would prefer to see McKay & Aird used more in the wide positions. These are young guys who have shown potential last season, but haven't had a look in this term. These guys are every bit as good as Kerkar IMHO.

The difference for me is that Kerkar is a left footer, while Aird, McKay and Templeton are right footed. Not saying that I would want Kerkar back, but I do think that a left wing/left midfield has to be left footed. If he is a right footer, the game becomes very narrow as he will always cut back onto his right foot to cross the ball. It seems to work well on the right hand side with a left footer cutting inside (Bale, Townsend, Silva etc.) but I cant really think of a successful left wing who is right footed. Guess I have just been spoilt growing up admiring Davie Cooper and that cultured left foot!

  3. Picked this up from the official website -

'Elsewhere at the club, Greek defender Anestis Argyriou has left Gers after it was mutually agreed to terminate his contract.

The full-back played 27 times in total for the Light Blues last season after coming in from AEK Athens but he hasn't featured this term.'

I feel a bit sorry for him, but just one of many who were not good enough.

  4. Personally, I would have been quite relaxed had Black been sacked, but I really don't know all of the facts, whereas Ally McCoist does. However, I have no doubt that Black would have been treated in the same way as Sandaza had he started this season the way he played last year.

  5. Assuming that Zaliukas or Pandza accept the offer, you would imagine that with Mohsni, they become the first choice centre half pairing. Do we then need Cribari, Faure, Hegarty and Perry? One would imagine that Jig moves up front to compete with Daly for a striking position but given that both of those players can play CB if we had severe injury concerns, the numbers are massively over-inflated.

If I recall correctly, when Mourinho took over Chelsea for the first time, he publicly stated that he did not want more than two players per position as it was difficult to keep everyone match fit and happy. If one of the most successful managers of the modern era believes this, you would have hoped that it would it would be good enough for Ally, particularly given our financial concerns!

  6. What would be the point of adding PM and FB to the board if BS (in particular) remains. Do we now have a further two non executives overseeing the role of BS? He is either competent to do the job or he isn't. In my opinion, I don't think that he is and would like to see him replaced, but to carry an additional cost of say 50k per annum per non executive to oversee the financial director's performance just seems ludicrous!

I could live with CM remaining as CEO but he needs to ensure that substantial cost cutting is implemented to get us to a sustainable level.

Potentially, and based upon Bill's blog, you could then have

    John McClelland - Chair

Frank Blin - head remuneration and audit committee?

    Paul Murray - ?

    BS - Financial director

    BS - Non executive

    IH - Non executive

    SE - Non executive

    JE - Non executive

They will definitely need to cut Ally's salary to be able to afford that lot!

  7. Is that the same guy who's on the RFFF board? I think he might be Bomber's agent too and was reportedly one of Bomber's backers when he was trying to put a bid for the club together.

Not sure if he is Bomber's agent as well, but Andrew McCormack is definitely on the RFFF board.

  8. I noted that Ally bemoaned that we did not have any "recognized" strikers due to Clark and Daly being unavailable last night. Manager, any other new striker would have been likewise unavailable ... and Little and McCulloch got what, 40odd goals playing as strikers last season?

IIRC, Little and McCulloch scored over 50 goals combined, and Nicky Clark got 40 by himself!

  9. Thanks Zappa, I just could not imagine anyone attempting to defend the indefensible for as long as Bill McMurdo has, without receiving some type of compensation. Even if it isn't financial, could he just be one of those individuals who loves to demonstrate how well connected he is. Either way, the comments are better than central comedy channel!

  10. Lifted from a Rumour site:

Sell Ibrox, Murray Park & Albion carpark for £7m, then have an option to buy back Ibrox ONLY for £10m within the 1st year - didn't know that Wonga were now doing property deals???? I'm not the greatest financial mind out there (constantly skint), but even I can see how bad a deal that would be....

Seems to me that there is a huge amount of detail in there for a rumour. Hope to God I'm wrong.

  11. As an overseas based bear, I am lucky to take in one live game per season, so support the club by buying all the merchandise for my son. However, I love the idea of a membership scheme whereby we could all contribute towards a better managed club and feel a greater sense of participation.

Funny though, on another Rangers forum, there was recent talk of returning season tickets to try to starve out the carpet baggers, yet here we are talking about ways in which to raise more money for the Rangers! Just goes to show, we cannot stand idly by and watch the club we love go to the dogs!

  12. I don't see how anyone could object to Blin being named as non-executive chairman? There is a vacancy for the position, he is hugely credible and massively experienced from his years as Chairman at PWC (one of the largest auditing companies in the World), we need to have someone oversee the change to a more prudent financial model and I understand that he is a supporter. Only people who could object would be the ones with something to hide!

Although I would prefer to see BS out of the FD position, (because I think that the Green team is toxic) I would not want PM to replace him. He had his chance both with SDM and the Blue Knights and has never convinced that he has what it takes. However, if you were to advertise the position with a starting salary of 200k pa, I can guarantee that you would attract some top class candidates. Frank Blin could go back to PWC and poach the right person, if need be.

PS. Is JM putting himself forward for a position on the board or is he merely looking to have CM and BS removed?

  13. I want to know that whatever money being raised and coming into the Club will be used solely for the benefit of Rangers regardless of the amounts. I believe that McColl and Blin can guarantee that will happen.

The only way for that to happen is for McColl/Blin to be on the board to ensure that there is a new share issue, hopefully underwritten by someone like Dave King. In that way all existing shareholding is diluted (unless they wish to put more money into the club, which I think is unlikely given the current share price against the IPO launch price.)

  14. Personally, I believe that to be earning a salary of 300k per annum plus an additional 5% comm for doing your job, is absolutely outrageous. However, you can be sure that CG steamrollered the board into accepting this contractual obligation, and if so, then we are bound to pay this.

I would comment on these as follows:

    1. We were earning money from JJB and Umbro prior to the Sports Direct/Puma deal. The benefit payable should be for the difference only.

    2. Commission is payable when money is in the bank and not up front. A lot can happen over 5 years!

    3. Buying Albion Car Park - How is this a commercial deal? Any financial director should be able to see the long term benefits of purchasing versus leasing. If it required IA to point this out to BS, then BS should return his salary, never mind his bonus.

    4. Buying Edmiston House - Is he including the cost of the development needed to achieve a financial return? i.e. there would not be an immediate profit.

    5. McMurdo has dug himself into a hole with his support for CG and IA. Here's a hint Bill, when you find yourself in a hole stop digging, the hole is just getting bigger!

    6. CG, IA, BS, and the rest of the carpetbaggers, GTF!

  15. Reading between the lines of a few things that have happened in the last week or so...

    1) Mike Ashley rumoured to be interested in increasing his stake

    2) Ahmad seemingly talking to Bill McMurdo who is then blogging about Mather's salary and the lack of cost reduction

    3) Further rumours about CG wanting to return

    4) Other rumours about potential interested parties looking at acquring shares...

Seems to me that key investors have parachuted Green in to make sure their interests are assured - i.e. to make the maximise the value of their shares if and when someone makes a bid.

Just my amateur and uninformed view though.

One of the other recent developments was Walter stating that he did not have the business acumen to take the Chairman's position on a long term basis. Was this preparing the way for CG to take on this role if/when Walter stands down?
