Steven Whittaker: I owe no loyalty to new company. I was loyal to old #Rangers.

â??It has been really difficult time for all connected with Rangers Football Club. And this has been such a difficult decision to make. I have discussed it at great length with my wife, family and advisors and believe I have made the right decision to object to joining Sevco.

â??I am extremely proud to have played a part in the success during my time at the Club including winning leagues and cup titles and a Europa League final appearance. It has been a pleasure to work with Walter Smith, Ally McCoist, Kenny McDowall, Ian Durrant, Jim Stewart and the rest of the backroom staff, especially the medical team and all the staff at Ibrox and Murray Park.

â??I will always have a great deal of affection for the supporters who have shown me great respect throughout my time at Ibrox, I will always be grateful for the support they have given me as a Rangers player.

â??I am, like Steven Naismith, proud of the players for taking a 75% pay cut, arguably against our own commercial interests. I believe we did the right thing as we could have refused which could have brought about liquidation earlier and/or resulted in significant redundancies.

â??I am glad that the staff have the opportunity to TUPE over or not and that if they choose to their conditions are protected.

â??I want to take this opportunity to thank all the staff, the players and especially the supporters. Whatever form the new club takes, I wish everyone connected with it the very best for the future.â?

  3. Naismith, who describes himself as a "lifelong Rangers fan", has scored 28 goals for the club since joining from Kilmarnock in 2007, having originally been a Rangers trainee.

"I have discussed this decision with my fiancee, my family and my advisors. It has been an extremely difficult decision to make but I believe it is the right decision," he said.

"As players we were put in a difficult position by the administrators whereby we were asked to take a 75% pay cut to contracts that we entered into in good faith.

"As players we collectively saw this as the only way to get Rangers Football Club out of administration by way of a CVA and thereby protect the staff jobs and the history of the club and give the creditors who had also entered into contracts with Rangers in good faith the best chance of being paid.

"Both Steven and I and our agent fought hard with administrators during negotiations to insert clauses that offered protection to staff and players at the club. I am extremely proud of the actions we took but I am disappointed and angry that Rangers Football Club no longer exists in its original form."

Naismith thanked manager Ally McCoist and his predecessor Walter Smith, among others, for the success he enjoyed with Rangers.

"I am proud of the success we achieved during my time including three SPL titles, a Scottish Cup and two Scottish League Cups," he added.

"Finally I would like to thank the fans for all their backing. Everyone knows I am a life-long Rangers supporter and so I share in the disappointment and anger of what has happened to the great Rangers Football Club.

"I hope that a successful new Rangers can emerge and wish everyone connected with the new club, including Mr Green and his consortium, the very best for the future."

Steven Naismith and Steven Whittaker release statement saying they object to transferring their contracts to #Rangers newco

  5. THE following joint statement has been issued on behalf of the Scottish FA, SPL and SFL:

"All three parties have been involved in productive discussions for some time on the subject of league reconstruction. This culminated in a positive meeting last night, out of which the two league bodies will now engage in a wider consultation with their member clubs.

"The discussions are based on the key principles for reconstruction outlined in the Henry McLeish Review of Scottish football:

    * One league body in the senior game

    * Promotion/relegation play-off between SPL and SFL First Division

    * Single financial distribution model

    * Pyramid system, with the potential for relegation from and promotion to the fourth tier

"Further consultation will take place in the near future, with the aim of reaching a positive outcome on a new model to take Scottish football forward

  6. Ally McCoist Statement

    Sat, Jun 23, 2012

RANGERS manager Ally McCoist has this afternoon released the following statement.

He said: "It has been reported that a couple of players have indicated they want to challenge the transfer of their contracts. This is news to me and no player has spoken to me about it.

"At all times during my first year as manager, I strived to show players respect and in return would have hoped they would have shown me, and more importantly the club, respect by notifying us of their intentions before making it known elsewhere.

"Players have their own decisions to make and I understand that, but the question they have to ask themselves is do they want to play for Rangers or not?

"The formation of a new company is not the issue. The players would be playing for the same club - Rangers - in front of the same fans.

"If players want to leave and play somewhere else then they should be honest with the Rangers supporters.

"I don't want Rangers fans to be reading over the next few days how devastated players are about having to go. The fans deserve better than that. They are not daft.

"I can understand if a player has the chance to go somewhere else and there is uncertainty about which division we will be playing in.

"If that is the case that is understandable but they should not expect sympathy from Rangers supporters if they use the transfer of contracts as an excuse.

"I already know there are agents touting my players all over the United Kingdom, so let's be brutally honest.

"We are in a difficult situation and the contracts issue has given some players and agents the belief they can use it to leave the club.

"After all that the club and the fans have gone through, the supporters, above all, deserve the truth and should not have to listen to stories trying to sugar-coat the possible departure of players from the club.

"The players were magnificent last season and made great sacrifices and that will never be forgotten.

"Now, we have to look forward and everyone should be upfront and honest about their intentions."

Rangers CEO Charles Green added: "We are meeting the PFA Scotland and their legal advisers on Monday with a view to allaying players' concerns about the transfer of contracts so the timing of these announcements by players is hard to understand.

"The transfer of contracts has already happened and the club's clear legal advice is that players' purported objection is ineffective.

"Rangers would like to make it abundantly clear to players, agents and the chairmen and managers of other football clubs that we will take whatever steps necessary to challenge what we regard as a breach of contract to protect the interests of our club."

  7. Rhys McCabe and one other as-yet un-named player have lodged official objections to their transfer from the old Rangers Football Club to the newco.

As part of Charles Green's consortium's asset purchase, players' contracts have been transferred to the new company.

Employment law entitles players to the same terms they had under the old company or allows them to exercise a right not to transfer across.

The identity of the other player has not yet been established by BBC Sport.

A number of players are known to be weighing up their options, though Lee McCulloch is one who has stated his intention to move to the newco.

    Rangers: in or out?

â?¢The company which had run Rangers until 14 June 2012 will shortly be liquidated

â?¢A new company (newco) has bought Rangers' assets, including Ibrox Stadium

â?¢The newco wants to replace the old company in the Scottish Premier League

â?¢An 8-to-4 majority of SPL member clubs, including Rangers, is required for the newco to be admitted

â?¢If 5 or more clubs vote no, Rangers will need to apply to be admitted to Scottish Football League Division Three

Several factors will be taken into account by the players, not least the fact they do not yet know if they will have a league to play in.

They do know Rangers will not play any European football for at least three years.

The players were sent letters by Green asking them to report back to the club on Thursday, also the day they are due to receive their first full monthly salary since agreeing to wage cuts at the outset of administration.

Thursday is a key date then, because employment law experts suggest that either turning up for work or indeed accepting their salary would weaken their case if they were to subsequently object to the transfer.

McCabe and the other player lodged lawyers' letters with the club on Friday, informing them of their intentions not to be part of the new set-up.

It is believed McCabe intends to pursue his career in England.

It is another blow for Green, who is battling against a perception among supporters - not helped by the failure of Walter Smith's consortium to buy his investors out - that he does not have the good of the club at heart.

Green has stated that he believes under TUPE regulations the players are obliged to transfer to the newco, but the players' union PFA Scotland insists they are entitled to walk away as free agents.

The players will have to have their registration transferred from the Scottish Football Association, which could yet be challenged by Rangers, and would inevitably lead to a lengthy legal battle.

  9. Nacho Novo in â??paedoâ?? Twitter storm

FORMER Rangers star Nacho Novo was at the centre of a police probe last night after allegedly branding Celtic fans paedophiles.

The outburst appeared on the Spanish starâ??s Twitter page when Hoops supporters taunted him about the Ibrox sideâ??s troubles.

It said: â??Why uz no go home ya FB still have more history than uz PAEDOS hahahahaha WATP.â? The comment was removed from Novoâ??s official account after a furious reaction from fans.

Some shocked supporters contacted police, who last night confirmed they were investigating. Disgusted Twitter users blasted the 33-year-old, who now plays for Polish side Legia Warsaw.

David Hegarty tweeted: â??Nacho Novo â?? scum of the earth.â? Novo became a hate figure among some Celtic fans after moving to Ibrox in 2004. Sections of the Parkhead support even came up with a sick song wishing the striker would die in his sleep â?? which some Twitter users quoted in their replies to the starâ??s comments yesterday.

Novo was not as his home in Glasgowâ??s west end last night and his agents were unable to comment.

  10. Insolvency expert Roger Isaacs, despite Duff & Phelps claims to the contrary, is standing by his stance in @markdaly2 documentary.

He says, having seen documentation provided by D&P, he is not persuaded they had no knowledge of Ticketus deal to fund purchase of club.

  11. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/rangers-plan-to-buy-an-english-club-904611The Mirror has learned that League One club Bury are in Greenâ??s sights, as they could be bought for a modest sum and present Rangers with a place in English football.

Bury chairman Brian Fenton said on Wednesday night: â??We have had no contact with Charles Green or Rangers Football Club.â?

Green and his *financial team have , however, been looking at Bury in particular â?? although the historic move would cause outcry at many levels.

But the rewards for Rangers are great if they can switch to England as they would have a great chance of rebuilding in a new countryâ??s league.

Rangers will find out at the start of July if they are to be readmitted to the SPL.

Scotlandâ??s top-flight clubs are voting on their fate.

If the once-mighty club are snubbed it may speed up their own escape bid and the gloves would come off as they take on the authorities to make it happen.
