  1. He will sign for them. Lawell would never have let this go public without doing his homework on that first, because of how it would blow up in his face. Make no mistake he will be enjoying the spin that this will cause just as much as the bitterest Dhim.

  2. For the first time in ages I noticed the Rangers Supporters Loyal's usual suspects on Twitter today, telling anyone who'd listen (not many), that we'd been lied to and that Gilligan and Murray were taking £5k per week in expenses between them.

One week, two weeks, 8 weeks? It's all relative. £5k for two people flying to the USA (for example) for a week or two in a decent hotel is not a big deal.

  3. Things are looking better than they were last season that's for sure(could they have got worse ?) but I think it's a bit early after just three games to say 'we're on our way back' or anything like that. I'd say around October/November we'll have a clearer picture of where we are

Nope, I think its safe to say 'we're on our way back'. Nobody is saying for a minute we are back. It's a safe bet that the current regime will leave us in a much better place even if they don't achieve all of their goals.

  4. What I like about this one is:

    (1) Warburton has taken weeks to assess his fitness, rather than sign him and hope he gets fit.

    (2) Eustace is a 35 year old pro but didn't throw his toys out the pram when made to prove himself before getting a contract. Many others would have walked at that stage of his career to another English Championship or Div One side. He clearly has a desire and a commitment to getting this contract with us. Very professional.

In Warburton I trust (as long as he shores up his defence! ;)3 ). Well as the old Arab saying goes - 'Trust in Allah, but tie up your camel just in case'.

  5. So basically he is saying to Allan - "how can we sell you to our nearest rivals? We could make far more out of going up next year that the money we could get for you. It makes no sense. Stay and help us do that".

Scott Allan says to himself "OK I could wait and sign a pre-contract with a bigger club i.e my boyhood heroes Rangers. But wait a minute - I'm being asked to help condemn the team I'm going to sign for to Championship football again next year, while the team I'm leaving goes up".

Rock and a hard place, but how can his heart be really in it for the remainder of the season. Could he continue to play for Hibs at his maximum hoping Rangers don't go up automatically?

  6. Just to think we paid 100.000 for Colin Stein way back in 1968. Inflation is not that high in Scottish football.

I loved that guy. He scored a hat-trick on his Rangers debut in a 5-1 league win at Arbroath and then another hat trick a week later against Hibs. Four days after that he scored twice in a 3-0 away Fairs Cup win against Dundalk. Now that's a flying start! And who can forget his header at Easter Road that won us the league?

  7. Loan deals are for small clubs.

No they are not. Happening more and more now. Look at Nani to the 'world famous green and white hoops'. Sporting Lisbon get a great deal and Man Utd get him in the shop window as they want him off the wage bill.

  8. Great post mate and I don't disagree with you, but there's other possible angles as well, such as any external legal firm/s who had access to the Rangers case files with staff who have far less monitored access.

There's also apparently some pretty major issues with disorganisation within HMRC. I know someone who works in the massive EK office near Hairmyres and apparently the place is total chaos with a very high turnover of staff as well.

The EK office (Center One) is where Mr McIlwraith works, in his glorified admin job, and its where Billy McLaren worked as an Inspector before doing the Rangers youth role. It is also the same offfice that received numerous complaints regarding Catholic nepotism (often described as an 'Annexe for Holy Cross' in Hamilton) and resignations from the union for presentations to celtic on certain anniversaries.

I know what you are saying regarding external legal firms etc, but any 'Confidential' information that leaves HMRC still requires conformance to auditing controls, and the official secrecy acts, but it easier once it leaves. In saying that it doesn't leave HMRC easily at that level.

There were very strong beliefs that Paul McConville was receiving leaks from the very office above.

  9. Yes they have already settled with Arsenal.

As for the second statement, you and I will continue to agree to disagree on this being a vendetta against Rangers by Tims or Rangers-hating HMRC employees.

I'm not renowned for agreeing with Rab on much, but I know exactly how the HMRC security audit trails work, and I know that HMRC could find out tomorrow who accessed and leaked confidential information regarding Rangers. Only a very small amount of people are allowed access to secure cases such as Rangers' files and each one has a secure login that is audited and retained for 6 years. I know that the guy the Vanguard Bears announced as being the 'mole', Bill Mcilwraith, was a glorified admin and wouldn't have been within a million miles of those records. Why do we still not have this mole accessing the most secret of records yet HMRC continue to sack staff for accessing their families records (not to fiddle but to check how claims are proceeding etc)? They are sacked based on audit trails of their logins yet they can't trace who accessed 'secure' files with significantly more security attached and far smaller numbers allowed access.

I know that HMRC have been subject of several complaints (one serious) regarding catholic nepotism and promotions accordingly. I know that members resigned from their union after several awards from the union to celtic fc to commemorate certain anniversaries.

Go ask a certain ex-HMRC inspector, now with our youth set up, Billy McLaren, if he witnessed any of this when he worked there.

Do I think people at the very highest level in HMRC (and I'm talking Scottish based, influential at Whitehall) would harbour such a hatred for Rangers they would go to such extremes? Without a shadow of a doubt!!

  10. Well Jim Henry is obviously still around. I thought he had gone when he didn't appear on earlier photos. I couldn't understand when our players were looking unfit and overweight at times with Jim around. He is a complete animal when it comes to fitness (and believe me you wouldn't want to say no to him. Ex Judo champion as well).

I can only think that he was restricted on how assertive he could be with the players under McCoist etc.
