  1. Does nobody else have any concerns about us basically exclusively filling our squad with lower league English players? They're easily good enough for Scottish football but I'd like to see us being a decent Europa League side - at the very least - in the not too distant future.

Not really, if we can uncover 'gems' from lower divisions, and they don't need to be Vardy level either. While I dislike giving them any credit, there are many other 'Gary Hooper' type players in the lower divisions who just don't get a chance.

  2. I couldn't care less who Joey Barton supports, the same as I didn't care who MoJo supported. The ONLY thing that matters to me, and the vast majority of Rangers fans is "Can he perform well for Rangers".

As Barton put it when asked about his Celtic allegiances... "Just wait till you see the first Old Firm game to see where my allegiances are". That will do for me.

Exactly - we'll see if the green & the grey hail him as one of their own when he walks out at Breezeblock Boulevard in September. They don't do irony do they? What team did the man they see as Barton's green & grey nemisis to be, Scott Brown, support when he was younger?

  3. KHALID AUCHO claims it’s "only a matter of time" before he seals a deal at Rangers.

His current club Gor Mahia earlier this month insisted at the start of June the Glasgow giants had made a bid for the midfielder.

Now Uganda star Aucho reckons he’s on the verge of a "dream" switch.

He told Goal: “It is just a matter of time before everything goes through. I have already done everything on my part and all that is remaining is for them to do their part and come for my services. It is my dream to play in Europe and this is a massive step in my career.

"However, until that happens, I will continue to give my best for Gor Mahia because it is my club."

Aucho spoke out after being named the league’s best player for May.

He added: “I am surprised because I never saw the list and I was not aware that I was to emerge the best. I have seen that everyone who takes this award must have worked hard for it, so I think I worked hard too.

“Of course (Gor Mahia) is gonna win it (the league title). None can stop us because I am confident in it. Our secret is listening to the coach – following his instructions in training and the pitch and working hard."

This boy and his agent are really annoying me. Obviously trying to tout himself. If we are just about to sign you shut up son until its done. But my guess is we're not going to sign you actually.

  4. I think that he has to protect his share price. He can't do that by clamming up in front of a govt cttee; that would look like he was guilty

as charged, to everyone, lenders, shareholders, banks, finance houses, funds, the City generally, the media, the population at large.....

The section of society that fills Ashley's coffers by shopping at SD don't give a flying feck about a government accounts committee. If Ashley turned up at the committee in a pair of speedos and a twirly bow tie, the same people would still buy his stuff. Why? Because they are skint and its affordable, and most of them would relate to the fat robber before they would relate to the 'toffs' on the committee..

  5. I absolutely LOVE these committee hearings. It's the only time MP's appear human to me. They tear into every dodging chancer sitting in front of them. I'll be watching or recording for sure.

Do you know how much leverage these committees actually have or how much weight they carry? Not an awful lot is the bottom line.

  6. Taking the fifth, so to speak, would make him appear even worse than he is perceived now, I don't think he can even look as though

he has come out on top with that strategy.

Of course, he will struggle if he elects to answer, and the Committee members are on their game.

I think of Mrs Margaret Hodge, in this regard, although I don't think she is on that particular panel.

Damned if he does, and damned if he don't: a damned shame, don't you think?

Do you honestly think for one minute he cares how he looks? Not a chance.

  7. The answers will be short and sweet and his total disdain and contempt for them will shine through like a beacon. He believes he should be allowed to do as he pleases with his own Company and he certainly doesnt believe he should be answerable to some jumped up politicians who dont have a clue how to run a business and are merely looking for a soundbite. His arrogance knows no bounds as we know to our cost.

I will be utterly amazed if the appearance at Westminster, if it ever comes about, does not look exactly like this.

    Bang on the money!

  8. Can't agree.

Ashley likes to be in control and the last 12 months or so has seen various parts of his empire perform poorly, come under intense spotlight from the media and authorities and have a general perception forming that 'Goldfinger' is turning into 'Shitefinger'.

At the committee Ashley, (who doesn't like softball interviews) will be on live TV (I think) having to field difficult questions. He will do it in an environment he won't be comfortable in and the national media will be watching and waiting with their fingers on a keyboard.

If nothing else it should help maintain the negative focus on Ashely (if committee have done homework properly, are prepared for the obvious tactics SD will employ and not scared, within reasonable bounds, to call a spade a shovel).

I'd pay to be given a seat on that particular committee the day Ashley rolls into town. :)

I don't disagree with the stuff you say about negative publicity etc. The point I am making is that he won't be phased in the slightest by 'summons' to appear etc. He views these people as trumped up private school boys and he doesn't run scared of them I can assure you. As for 'Imprisonment in Westminster Palace' - is it any wonder these people don't get taken seriously? They would be as well threatening him with penal servitude!

  9. Were you working at the BBC then, AM?

Hahaha :lol: It was a bit more industrial than the BBC. In normal circumstances the little scrotum would have been given a slap but it was so funny that MJ had signed for us, and the fact that he couldn't contain his rabid hysteria that everybody just did a Souness - a 'get it right up you Declan' smirk!

  10. It will be interesting how many of the green and grey hordes that called him a "Hun fuck" when he posted that #rollupandspendyourlastdime will about turn and eulogise him if he doesn't come after all......

I will wish him well regardless. One thing we can all have solace in.... there will never, ever be as big a firestorm as the one that Souness created when he gazumped Celtic.

Yup - agreed with all of that. Mojo day was a JFK moment wasn't it? Remember exactly where you were when news came in. True story - guy who worked beside me screamed out hysterically "I hope if he has kids they die a terrible slow death and I swear to God I mean that!"

  11. I actually think we might be showing a bit of dignity. Given that Warburton has a good relationship with Rodgers I think he might be letting him have his moment in the sun, and then tomorrow hopefully we can have ours.

P.S. BTW if Barton doesn't come he is a prick and I didn't want him anywhere near my Club. If he does sign 'Go on the Joey boy. I once named my budgie after you!!'.
