I enjoyed that less than any game this season. But only because I was driving and had to listen to it on BBC radio. I’d forgotten just how fucking awful Sportsound is. Hopefully it will be another 10 years before I have to endure it again.
And to think we’re supposed to pay a licence fee for that BBC PQ puerile drivel 🙄

After looking at the replays again at HT, I think Sima gets pulled first. That would be a penalty....or let the goal stand.
Absolutely. Who’s on VAR?

The referee had a nightmare first half. Chopped off a good goal by McAusland and gave us a penalty which was a dive. Who’s on VAR?

I hate plastic pitches
They’re a lottery. Take any victory on them & fingers crossed, no injuries

Today’s Sportsound should be interesting. Hopefully 26th foot will keep us informed 😀

Good first half tonight but we faded badly second half. Goldson’s booking now means he’ll miss the Limassol game. Will Souttar be fit?

Aye right up there with losing 2-1 to Raith in Scottish Cup and drawing 1-1 with Stirling Albion.
Did you sleep through the Super Ally managerial era?
Don’t think ally was manager when we lost to raith in the SC 😋

I thought Balogun showed his age a few times and was lucky to get away with it.
Perhaps lack of game time a factor too

First half was flat but second half a vast improvement.
Bringing on Wright for the struggling Cantwell played a big part in the end result.
Would appear PC likes Wright just as GvB did. Beale was trying to flog him to Turkey.
Both Lundstrum & Jack are our best central MF pairing at the moment & both are out of contract end of season I think. Be interesting to see how that one plays out.
Raskin & Cifuentes need to get their finger out to be their successors
Were both pens correct decision? I had a poor view in the West Stand unfortunately

Older Gersnetters will recall the mystery surrounding DJ at the 1978 WC in Argentina when he was part of the Scotland squad but never got a game in a struggling Scotland side which embarrassed itself.
After a treble winning season 77-78 with Rangers, in which DJ scored 25 league goals and got both Scotland’s goals in the home internationals before the WC, he headed out to the WC finals where he wouldn’t play a single minute.
To this day I don’t think DJ has ever said a word about this but for whatever reason I don’t think he was ever the same player again after 1978. He’s been asked often but been declined to give reasons IIRC
Summer 78 was also when Jock Wallace left Rangers for Leicester City & was replaced by John Greig. Looking back it seemed Jock Wallace got a lot more out of DJ than Greig would be able to. And ultimately DJ would be part of JG’s 1983 clear out before he himself got cleared out later that same year
Unfortunately I don’t think Derek Johnstone ever became the player we’d hoped he’d be but I’ve always wondered if the summer 1978 was a turning point for him?

How far back, Rab? Derek Parlane, Jimmy Millar? Of course Millar wasn’t a six footer, he only jumped like one.
From mid 70’s to present day maybe

Other than Mark Hateley, has there ever been a better old fashioned Rangers centre forward in recent times than big DJ?

At - last years ELSF against RB Leipzig at ibrox . The celebrations at the end in the SJ rear will live with me forever.
Not at - more difficult. Beating Leeds Utd away in the CL probably. It was an exceptional result & silenced more than a few

I don't know the rules! however as far as I am aware there is no reason to stop play if the player and ref collides, if the ref stops the ball then that is different. Every player blocks another player when they let it run out for a goal kick, at corners, for instance!. Much the same as when the wee whining Hearts manager was complaining about our players blocking theirs! it is not fouling if done properly!.
This wee whining hertz manager? 😋

Easily our best domestic performance of the season so far.
Good to see Lammers & Dessers on the scoresheet. In the case of Lammers we can only hope this is the boost he needs to kickstart his Rangers career. There is a player in there no doubt about that. Maybe just lacks confidence after a few bad choices of clubs in recent years.Only downside for me was the unnecessary pyro display. Do these people want to get Rangers into trouble?

So pens count against Shankland but Tav scoring a few pens gives him legendary status and makes him a Hall of Famer? Can't you see the hypocrisy here?
Tav’s not a striker

Add me to the 'not sure why we didn't buy Shankland' camp. He was the best forward on the park yesterday, scored one, created Hearts best other chance and held the ball up really well all match. He's 6'1", 28 years old and scored 24 goals last season in the league we play in. I suspect he'd have cost way less than either Lammers or Dessers too. He's also Hearts captain which suggests he has some presence around the dressing room too. Buying the best Scottish players available has worked well for us in the past. Shankland's experience of our league, ultimately the one we need to win every season, could have made him a real asset. It's all moot, but I'm a t a loss to what our football department saw in some of our summer signings but didn't see in Shankland or indeed Nisbet.
As for yesterday I thought it was going to be one of those days we've become so used to in recent seasons. That it wasn't might be very important, or might be a blip, time will tell. Hearts tactics were so defensive, it was a grim watch. I don't think Mr Naismith will be in the job for long if that's what his side are displaying every week. We huffed and puffed but didn't look like blowing them down until we did. It was a better performance than many we've seen this season, Clement has improved us, but ultimately it's the same players and there's only so much you can do with them. A fully fit Cantwell and Danilo will make a difference, it was also good to see Dowell make the bench, if Lawrence and him can stay fit then who knows. Even with that we need more goals in our team. If only there was a proven goalscorer in our league we could consider...
How many Shankland’s goals were penalties last season?

Lessons learned today .......
1. Danilo is the best goal threat we have on the books.
2. While not perfect, Ridvan is far better than some would have you believe.
3. We will always struggle to win games when Dessers and Lammers are given 60 minutes together.
4. Tavernier cannot play every game like he used to.
5. It's a long road ahead.
Ridvan is too small to play in defence. Opponents target him with high balls like hearts did today

It wasn’t a great performance but we deserved the win. Hearts scored early doors & tried to see out the win with 11 men behind the ball.I thought we might have changed formation to 3-5-2 but we didn’t.
We looked jaded today after a hard shift on Thursday night in Prague. Our support need to understand that

Agreed and I didn't want Lampard but I wouldn't state that Lampard was a complete failure.
Gio had success before coming to Rangers and ultimately failed and was sacked.
Interesting to hear Clement state in his press conference today that only parts of what Souness said was reported and he has no issue with Souness or what he said.
Gio failed but reached a European final ? 😳 and at least he won the SC
Gio’s biggest problem was a DoF going around signing players he never wanted e.g Aaron Ramsey & not getting the hose he did want e.g. Veermann

Same could be said when he manages Chelsea as Craig mentioned above.
He was never NOT going to take the Chelsea job.
The point is the Rangers board were looking for someone with a record of success somewhere which unfortunately might have ruled Lampard out

I didnt want Lampard either but to suggest he has continuously failed is an over-reach. He did well with Derby and was unlucky to not get promoted - then in his first stint at Chelsea he actually did very well whilstthe club were under transfer embargo.
He hasnt "continuously failed. But certainly not won anything or a success in his 2nd Chelsea stint
Lampard also did himself no favours taking on the sinking ship Everton.

McCauslands goal should have stood. McLean had a shocking first half. Wrongly gave a penalty & wrongly disallowed a goal
