  1. I would have thought PD could have sold twice that number. The boats must be at sea that weekend.
  2. Steady, Aye Steady. While we're counting our chickens, the horse might bolt and spill the milk.
  3. I was with you all the way on this, Ian, 'til I watched the highlights of the QotS match on BBC with no commentary and no expert (ahem) summariser. It was great! Let them stay away.
  4. "The thing about moving is that we talk about preserving a tradition to sing the most anachronistic and inappropriate songs, but we have one of THE most historic football venues in the world and would dump it at the drop of a hat." The true historic Hampden was dumped long ago.
  5. Terrorist not religious. I thought Shetland was clear of this sort of nonsense.
  6. I don't want to play with them to be honest.
  7. "Kilmarnock legend Hay"? I suppose I must have heard of him but I've surely forgotten. Now, Frank Beattie, Jim Richmond, Willie Toner ........
  8. I can't claim to have seen many England matches, certainly not live ones and the likes of Tom Finney and Stan Matthews only on small screens with no close-ups or slo-mo replays but that performance last night was the best Football I've seen from an English national side. Fast clever passing and electric finishing apart from Dele Alli who was otherwise outstanding. Germany were pretty average or perhaps just made to look average, yet they should have been 3 - 0 up which would not have been a true reflection of the run of play. A caller to R5 last night - a Scotsman - asked if a side with Rooney, Sterling and Sturridge in it would have come back from two goals down. He answered his own question by saying they would not. England have got a team. They should stick with it.
  9. The Falkirk result was interesting. Beating the Rangers takes a lot out of you.
  10. Six goals lost in two games. I'm not an expert but that suggests weakness either in the mind or in the technique of defending. Either way, it's got to be sorted.
  11. If I were so good splayer that c....c wanted me to sign for them I'd be good enough to get a game for plenty of other clubs and earn a decent wage. C....c or Luton Town? No brainer.
  12. WGS is indeed a failure but he's the best failure we've got.
  13. His clarification (ahem) confirms what I thought - a light-hearted reference to what his friend and family would metaphorically do to him. What irritated me was his assumption he might be good enough for Rangers.
  14. Some of them are very good, miles better than performers in what Rab calls the Shortbread Senate. But there are a good few who play up for the telly.
  15. The sovereignty of Parliament is fine. The tyranny of Parliament is not so good. Ashley makes a good point about "grandstanding". Watch one of the Committee hearings on the telly and you'll see what I mean.
  16. They are doing what champions do - beating the opposition while rivals stumble.

    Parity.

A footballer's job is to kick the ball, not to be a bodyguard to any dope who runs onto the park.
  18. What a dream season for the boy Rashford - scores as Manyoo lead 0 - 1 at HT. Let's hope Aguero gets four in the second half.
  19. So would I, selfish and blinkered as usual. But for the greater good of the game, short term Falkirk currently a very good team, long term Hibs who should be a lot better than they are.
  20. The first twenty minutes reminded me of Danny Blanchflower's Hotspurs. So did the last twenty. Reminded me 'Spurs had two fullbacks and a centre half who could defend.
  21. His defence is very well constructed. But does the Jury find him credible? They may be out for some time
  22. Keep at it , Ian. Bluedell put the case in a nutshell yesterday.
