  1. The fact that Spence and TE are so much against King assures me that he is just the chap for the job.
  2. Why? What's it to him? Don't tell me he's a shareholder. I can't stand self appointed windbags like TE. I wouldn't ban him from Ibrox but I'd make sure his seat was uncomfortable and no tea at half-time.
  3. Hull going will do nicely but I fear for Sunderland. They will get nothing against Arsenal and Chelsea except a savage blow to their gd. Magpies will beat the Hammers easily - they're on the beach blowing bubbles. The great lummox, Steve Bruce, has never beaten United. There's always a first time.
  4. "Newton Grange Star" - you're some kind of a toff, Ian. "Nitten" surely. I'm from a long way from Edinburgh but I worked there for many years. Happy days.
  5. How to get to Ibrox? In a celtic supporter's car - but just the once. Travelling from Edinburgh for a game against the Hearts I arranged a lift on a club bus but the dastards drove past the pickup without stopping. To St Andrews 'bus station arriving just as the last Eastern Scottish special left; to Waverley for Queen Street then a sprint to Central to see the last train leaving the platform; outside to get a taxi with three others by this time. A bloke came out of the station having seen off a wedding party. "A lift to Ibrox?" says he, "come on, I'm off to Paisley to see the Celtic". In we got and off we went and he wouldn't take a penny for a dram. Not all of them are Apaches.
  6. McLeod and Vuckic - Lewis and Haris?
  7. Forza i Bianco-Neri but Barce will do it.
  8. I don't think the H word is excessively offensive. I'd rather be called that than a sheep sh*****g b*****d. In the early 60s when singing at the fitba' became fashionable all home fans used to bellow "go home ya bums" at the visitors. Liverpool played a German team at Hampden in a CW Cup Final. Their fans at the time were the market leaders in hymns modern as oppposed to hymns ancient (that was us) and with remarkable inventiveness sang "go hme ya H**s at the Bosche. (Is it ok to say that?) It sounded good so everyone took it up even though the opposition were fellow Scots. The singing football fan is not renowned for lyrical accuracy. I suppose it became directed towards us for two reasons. We did not need it because we had a rattling good word of our own and secondly some journo, might have been John Rafferty, writing about the depredations of football fans in general described the fans of big clubs descending on small towns as being like a horde of huns which was a pretty good historical allusion. Guess which club had thousands of travelling fans in those days. Remember celtic at the time were not nearly as well followed as Rangers So, someone writes "kill all h**s" on the wall. Terrible. He used a bad "sectarian" word. He writes "kill all Rangers supporters". That's ok is it? It's the sentiment, not the word that matters. The H word is pejorative, no doubt, but sectarian? Never. The PSNI and the Learned Sheriff, with respect, have got it wrong. Next time at Pittodrie, anyone want to join me parading down Union Street singing "Ah'm no a sh****r, ah'm a H*n"?
  9. He doesn't need to be sacked - yet. A good public horsing would suffice. His kind and by that I mean a much broader church than SNP, are in the vanguard of dishing out sanctmonious twaddle. Not so good at taking it, though.
  10. "Well the Galloway and Reid were in the same Better Together bed, so I suspect not. Once you've lain with dogs, it's best not to check too closely for fleas. As for this email - pathetic, illiterate and embarrassing." RPB, I'm generally against you in this thread but I agree with every word of that.
  11. What punishment are we asking to be inflicted on O'H? I don't think anyone is calling for conviction and sentence retrospectively. It's just that the SNP make such a fuss about inclusiveness and not being nasty it's not unreasonable to expect them to distance themselves from the culprit. Publicly deploring his conduct a last warning with regard to future behaviour would do. Possibly lighted matches under the fingernails as well. I don't see a great difference between this case and Findlay's except, of course, DF wasn't offering himself for public office where he would take part in telling the rest of us what to do.
  12. They could make a shilling or two if they put prints of Mr Struth's picture on the market.
  13. If HC go down, Jelavic and Aluko might get transfers to bigger and better clubs such as, well, maybe er, WBA? Quite like the Baggies but not keen on Pulis but he knows how to keep a team safe.
  14. I think Sunderland have to beat Leicester to survive. They won't get any points from the other two fixtures. Magpies should just make it. I won't be sad if Hull go down.
  15. So "fen..n" pre statute is wrong but "h.n" is only wrong post statute?
  16. Findlay committed no crime but had to go. The SNP chap committed no crime either but he is a prominent member of a Party which makes much of inclusiveness and decent behaviour so he should have been well and truly chid by the boss, a handbagging at the very least. Funny how similar NS is to Mrs T, the arch bogeywoman. Made-up face, cemented hairdo and blazing eyes. But Mrs T had too much self control to make smug wee girlie smirks when she thought she'd said anything clever.
  17. Thought about Puskas but decided on di Stefano. Having said that, Cruyff could play a bit and the more I reflect on it perhaps it's Messi after all.
  18. We had a good discussion recently about Mols and Negri. How about Stein and Parlane? Colin, Colin, Colin Stein for me and maybe, just maybe, Jim Forrest before either of them
  19. Juve won't score, unfortunately. Real will. How often? Twice. Meanwhile, elsewhere: Barce 3, Bayern 1. But it could all be different.
  20. Not many friends on that list, I don't think. Possibly only Ogilvie if any.
  21. Our resources should have had us hammering everybody in the lower leagues. Didn't quite happen. It's how the resources are applied and who's applying them that matters.
