  1. I take you didn't even begin to understand my post? No idea why you quoted it...

I understood your post perfectly well. You say entertainment is about winning and entertainers are probably not winners. Personally I was bored shit less with the Walter Smith then ally crap that was served up even when we were successful. I want to win and be entertained.

  2. Flair in football to me, is not about entertainment, it's about the application of skill and intelligence in a variety of ways, leading to sporting excellence, and ultimately winning games. The entertainment for the fans comes from appreciation of that excellence, and also the vicarious feelings associated with your team winning or doing well.

If you think you're an entertainer rather than a footballer, then you're probably not much of a winner, and you'll have no idea how to close a game that may require some boring but clinical tactical choices.

Oh dear. Why can't we have winners that entertain. We all drool at Messi magic on the telly but dare a young British player try it then they are cocky arrogant etc. I would like to think the late great DavieCooper would say that's a nonsense. I remember a buzz whenever he got on the ball whether anything happened it was the anticipation of greatness. Warburton is creating that same buzz of expectation and if I'm not wrong I think he is setting out to entertain and win so you best get used to it

  3. They tried to sack Ally countless times.

    He resisted.

He's seen as a hate figure now even though he can't legally talk.

We'll see the real picture in November when he can.

He should have been sacked he was a woeful manager. If he returns the millions he sucked out of our club when he spills the beans in November then I might actually give a fuck about his opinion. P's he seems to have taken to the role of gardener with the sloppy look.

  4. The more action you see Warburton taking the more you realise what a piss poor manager McCoist was.

Not if you swallow the latest attempt by Walter today to excuse Ally and Kenny. It was horrific and old Wattie is in danger or ruining his reputation to defend the charlatan.

  5. I must admit to being slightly underwhelmed at this signing. A keeper who has spent 4 years in the third tier of English football with nobody exactly burning down a path to his door despite being able to sign for anyone on a free from 1 Jan.

If MW thinks he can get by with players from this level to win the second tier here then he is probably right, but issuing 3/4 year contracts to a guy like this who has not shown enough to interest any of the clubs in the top two divisions in England over the last four years does not remind me of signing Chris Woods or Andy Goram.

While we absolutely must win the title this year, we also must be ready to meet our 16-17 challenge head on, and players from the third tier of English football are not going to be good enough to see us to the top of our game, and into Europe again. I would have no problem if we gave the guy a 1 or 2 year contract to see us through the top flight, and we can always issue a longer better contract if he turns out to be any good, but issuing 3 or 4 years deals to someone who has only ever played a million miles below where we want to play doesnt sound right to me.

Regular English Championship players are fair enough for where we are, League one is pushing it a bit too far for me. I wish the guy well and the manager gets a free pass to sign who he wants with the amount of positions needing filled, and it may be he likes Bell and wants a solid back-up, but I dont see a 24yo coming on a 3/4 year deal to be backup. He might not be making marquee signings given our financial position, but he better start signing some players that will excite a lot of Bears to buy ST's.

A Woods or a Goran would cost in the region if 6-10 million in today's market. Please explain what relevance that reference counts for Rangers in 2015????

  6. Warburton himself says that the Scottish Championship is a hard sell to English players. We must get promotion this year, ergo loan signings are perfectly acceptable for now.

We have two more windows after this one to entice better players on a more permanent basis, before the real business starts against THEM.

That makes a lot of sense

  7. Kilmarnock are trying to sign Lee McCulloch and Kris Boyd with the former Scotland internationals being out of contract with Rangers.

Manager Gary Locke wants defender McCulloch as his assistant manager but says the 37-year-old is still hoping for a new contract at Ibrox.

"I've had tentative talks with Lee, but it's not gone any further than that," Locke told BBC Scotland.

"He would give me a playing and a coaching option."

McCulloch was Rangers' captain and was integral to their defence as they won League Two, League One and then missed out on promotion to the Premiership this season.

But new Rangers manager Mark Warburton has already signed Danny Wilson and Rob Kiernan to bolster his back four.

Kilmarnock manager Gary Locke Gary Locke is looking for an assistant manager at Kilmarnock

"He is waiting to see what happens at Rangers before making any decision," stressed Lock.

"If they make him an offer, I suspect he'll stay there." Boyd scored 10 goals in 43 appearances in his second spell at Ibrox after ending his second term with Kilmarnock.

However, the 31-year-old fell out of favour at the end of the season under Stuart McCall.

"It's no secret that I am looking for a striker and I've been keen on Kris for some time," said Locke.

"We start back training on Monday and I would like to add to the squad as soon as possible.

"I am also looking at striker from England who I have looked at several times and who could do a job for us."

Please tell me that jig is just a deluded arsehole.. surely Warburton would not make a mistake of that magnitude

  8. I think this signing is purely for the season ahead. Given last season's injury problems and his age, not to mention the fact that most midfielders rarely play on much beyond 34/35, I doubt we can really expect him to still be playing regularly in the SPL (presuming we go up).

I imagine the thinking is Warburton has come into a side in a low league, we need to hit the ground running and he doesn't have much money to spend. He won't know the players that well individually, aside from knowing they are generally very poor, and so he will have looked to bring an experienced head in for a season. We're not in a position to be signing anyone doing that well in the Championship, so he has brought in a player he knows reaching the end of his career. Someone he can trust. I would imagine in a year someone long term will get it, possibly Wilson.

I still don't agree with the signing but I'm hugely encouraged by the signing of Wilson and hopefully we see more players like that.

I think you just summed up what most of us thought when we first heard about him at the weekend. Just what we need for the short term to get the team gelled. Because of the car crash that has been the last three years unfortunately MW is starting from scratch oh yes in the championship.

  9. When I thought he was going to the other mob on a free I was pretty gutted to be honest , Wilson is fast , has great positional play and can pass and score goals , so you can imagine how happy I am right now .

Some people need to see what the new management team are trying to do , it's something we were calling out for three wasted years ago , get real guys , this is a great bit of business if it goes through

Difference for me is that mw appears to know what he islooking for and will target players that will fit his system unlike previous incumbents who just collected players then tried to figure out how to fit them all in. Eustace being a good example of this. Folks just looking at his age but warburton will see him as the glue to hold the team together

  10. Again I'm underwhelmed with Eustace -- his age being the main cause for concern -- however, after doing a bit of research, he could be a shrewd acquisition. He's a sitting midfielder, quite strong on the ball and can pass it, so he seems to fit the style WW are after. He's not going to have the legs but that's not necessary in his position and his age doesn't seem to have hindered him over the last few years in the Championship. His experience could be beneficial for youngsters. If he's playing regularly in the Championship at 33, 34 and 35 (He only missed out last year through injury, and, if some tweets from Derby supporters are trusted, they really missed him -- Derby are not a bad side), then I think he should be able to play with us for 2 or 3 years. (I can't believe I'm about to say this but Neil Lennon was playing for Them at 35 and looked average, but was considered an important player. )

If we are going with a relatively young centreback pairing and some young blood in midfield an experienced holding mid is exactly what we need. I presume they have done their homework and are buying in a ready made leader , something we have lacked for years, on the pitch.. typical of our supports mentality if its naw a big name we dinnae want him..

  11. I'm currently a coach for a U10 (2005) boys team playing in the East Dunbartonshire league.

We went from 'Fun 4's' to 'uncompetitive' 7-a-side last year and it's all pretty well organised. 7-a-side is all about development and letting the boys (and girls) play football without the pressure of winning though every kid on the pitch knows what the score is and some of them show a real desire to win and nothing puts me on a downer more than getting a hefty going over by some of the teams you come up against!

I'm just a volunteer and I've done some coaching badges (early touches course) and I try my best but do hope that our boys progress to a 'better' team so they can get coached by someone who's better at it than me. I try my best but I just don't have enough time to become better at Coaching and feel like I'm doing our better kids a disservice but I can only try my best.

Being in the North Glasgow area, we have the Euromillions funded "Weir Foundation" who are doing work on behalf of Partick Thistle and are named "Partick Thistle in the Community" and they basically go out and 'poach' the better boys and form a bit of a league select.

The plan is for these boys to progress to pro-youth and then go to one of the SFA performance schools which are dotted throughout the country. You get picked up at 7am and head off to school. Before school starts you train in the morning, 3 hours at school, 2 hours training, 3 hours school, another hourse training and then off home at 6pm. It's a lot of football but this was Mark Wotte's idea (so I've been told)

I know of a few boys who go to these schools and it's pretty cut-throat. If you go and after a year, you're not progressing then you get dropped. My cousin's 2 boys were at St Mirren pro-youth, the older one hit a bit of a rut and got booted out even though he's been a good performer with them for 4 years! The younger one has been approached about attending a Performance school but again, you could be heading off to a new school to make new friends, then after 6 months, you get told to leave and go to a new school where you need to make new friends again and it could really knock a young lads confidence both socially and football-wise too.

pretty sure they make a 3 or 4 year commitment on the SFA schooling part (they certainly were offering that at the Aberdeen based school a couple of years ago) but your place at the pro youth team you are associated with is not gauranteed.

  12. No, he doesn't. He rightly would have voted in line of what he felt were the best interests of his then football club (with respect to his career and personal life). For all we know he may have advised against the 'Well Society being given the responsibility afforded to them.

Anyone taking umbrage with that because he's now joining our club is just being deliberately obtuse.

Well said. There comes a point in time we are going to have to stop putting everyone associated with rangers under the microscope and trust them to get on with their jobs.

  13. The really good news for trublu and his ilk is that Warburton just strikes you as the kinda that will give a fuck who a player's daddy supports or what school he went to. Thankfully that will be way up his list of priorities rather than their ambition and ability. Welcome to knuckle draggers r us....
