  1. I can understand why many bears are cautious about people like Sarver.

However, he is one person who has been as credible as anyone over the past few years. Nothing is hidden - all his activities and perfoermances are out in the open for the whole world to see - and it reads very well.

I just pray we haven't missed out on an exciting venture with this guy and his team. Part of me things 'who the hell are we to turn down this guy ?!'

I hope this don't come back to haunt us.

I agree but he must have realized his bid had a very small chance to be successful.. to expect guys like Parkco and King who have just invested millions to then dilute this significantly was just never going to happen imo, Only way it was ever going to work imo was if he got them onboard with his bid.

  2. Alarm bells are ringing for me for some reason, and granted it may be down to past experiences, but why Rangers (and why the basket case that is Scottish football)? I just don't get it.

Well if he can pick us up for 20 million i think that is a snip. Granted additional investment is needed but in a CL year we were turning over 70 million (iirc) and non CL around 45 million. So if we were well run not spunking money away left right and centre he will easy make his money back i would think.

  3. Leach and Lambias have been put in to tie up everything to leave any future owners with no retail income. Badge, crest, image rights the lot. Before any EGM is called Easdales will let Ashley walk away with everything in exchange for a shirt term fix to "save the club".

    Just a thought :(

I'm by no means an expert, but surely there must be some legal recourse against this sort of thing? Surely this would count as the directors not working in the interest of the company?

Like i said not an expert but i can't imagine its legal for a large shareholder to shoe horn in your own management team, sign the company up to all sorts of contracts in favour of his separate company then bugger off.

  4. Yeah, we obviously do not wonder how company and apparently confidential information ended up at the BBC ... again.

As for Irvine, lapping up "those he does not work for" was to be exected, but you have to "admire" his gall saying that those new investors "have not invested in the club" (as yet). As if they were actually given a chance ...

Is Easdale's loan an unsecured one, BTW?

    Secured on McLeod transfer

  5. eh

the minimum should have been win the league and challenge cup and in some style.

notice a number of times now various people downgrading expectation to "just get up"

disgusting mitigation of complete and utter failure

Nah minimum is to get up, expected is to win the league.

Ally has to go though in my opinion. Been saying it now since Div 3... cant even bring myself to list the reasons now.

  6. Horrible to say this but the reality is the Rangers as we knew it is long gone. This new reality of worrying about finances isn't what football supporters should be doing.

Just think back to when all the post CW shit happened, the majority of the fans were absolutely fine with taking a measured approach to getting back to where we belong. Not to go crazy and spunk millions on players like was done in the past. Now here we are a mere 3 years later right back in the same bloody position again. How the board could not feel the animosity towards them in the summer and realise the fans were simply not going to throw cash at them again... Surely they should have thought well, lets not pay a fortune to Miller, Boyd, Zaliukas, lets see how things go and pick up free agents if we need to and the money is there. But no they will sit there and blame the supporters for being sensible instead of looking at themselves in the mirror. What an absolute farce. And i know he is a legend but Super is equally guilty in all of this. He is behind the scenes and could surely of seen that the money wasnt there for him to spunk away, yet he did it anyway.

  7. Maybe it is just me, but ever since the turn of the year, Wallace started to look quite disinterested at times. Whether it is the constant lack of quality around him, injury or whatever, he sure looked off the pace, Hibs game the exception. Could well be that this Lappin interest rose up after some talks between player and club, not vice versa. Would hate to see him go, but I could understand that he feels he#s done enough on our comeback trail.

Couldnt disagree more. He is always busting a gut up and down the touchline.. look at the Hearts game on Saturday, chasing dead balls.

  8. This would be a disaster... he's arguably our most creative player (certainly last season anyway) and by a country mile the best defender we've got.

It just irritates me more and more every time I hear new news that we wasted a fantastic opportunity to restructure the club with a fresh start and in the end are back in a worse mess than pre-Whyte.

  9. I remember Jamie Ness hitting a blinder against Celtic and he is now being released by Stoke. He jumped ship too quick. Point being MacLeod needs developed this upcoming season and not ruined.

He jumped ship too quick agreed but it was injuries that really ruined his career. Signed for Stoke and was injured before he even kicked a ball. Would have been a cracking player imo.

  10. Even if they do suspend Wallace what is it going to achieve nothing when its the Easdale's and co pulling the strings... We need to either get rid of the board or figure out a way to make it work with the current board members. If Wallace does get hung out to dry by the board then we will just face another expensive hunt for another puppet CEO.

  11. The information about sign ups is in the public domain - there was an email that was sent yesterday. Surely you have received it or have you not signed up yet?

Here is the piece Greg i stalking about:

We have had a fantastic on-line response with invitations coming from many supporters’ clubs across the UK asking RangersFirst to present the scheme to their club members. We are getting very very close to our next milestone of 1000 members and to celebrate this incredible achievement we will be giving away a signed 2003 Rangers top to one of our lucky members.

But what I am not sure about is a member someone who is donating or just someone who has signed up? I am donating so getting the mails but is someone who isnt donating. Big difference between the two.

  12. Does anybody know if someone is actively targeting the supporters clubs further afield with these schemes? For example the North American ones and Dubai etc I would have thought most of these guys would sign up since they can't really have season tickets I would have thought.

  13. I signed up for Rangers First. For me it was a no brainer, the club has been a total embarrassment for the past few years, and I'm not saying the fans can run it better but at the very least we will have the club at heart rather than our pockets. Now is a real time where we finally have the opportunity to unite and become a force to slowly nudge the train back onto the tracks starting hopefully with a 5% holding in the club. We have the opportunity to build to the point where our voice is heard not just on Saturday afternoon at 3pm but in the board room.

  14. It's not so much the monetary value, but the fact that 2.5m shares in RIFC plc is almost 4% of the company, so it depends who's selling and who's buying. 4% is a considerable chunk of shares, but it might just be the spivs selling backwards and forwards to one another again to drive the price back up and it has indeed started going back up.

I'm nae an expert but would that not be illegal?

  15. We should be using this an opportunity to shift some players on rather than recruit more. The league is more or less sewn up so a two/three players like Cribari, Hutton, Shiels need to go to save some cash. Plus the reality is if they are not good enough for us in League One then they never will be. Give the younger lads more game time and start putting together a list of potential signings for the summer. If we start signing players now, considering it is always said that prices for players is inflated in January, we have a coach and a board that don't have a clue.

  16. IMHO it hasn't to do with inspiration of the masses, but with the amount of shares held by some. The majority "minor shareholders", i.e. those on the board right now. Had Paul Murray et al engaged with them more than with the media, I would assume that there was a decent chance to get a place on the board today.

All that said, the board can appoint more directors as they see fit, I assume. So who knows what will happen in these coming weeks and months.

You think they must realise they can't do this alone and need fans support, and an easy way for them to partly achieve this but not give up control of the board is to elect two of the requisitioners.

  17. Going to struggle to hang on to this lad.

Does anyone know if he is a Rangers fan?

He just signed a new deal, 4 years long i think.... so if he does moved at least we should be able to command a decent wedge of cash.

But i really do hope we can hang on to him, the guy is the real deal and the sort of player we should be building the team around for when we reach the SPL.
