  1. I could be way off the mark here but we are paying this guy 200k+ per year to do what exactly so far all he seems to be doing is banging his f*cking drum on a daily basis?

Look at all the CE's of the big clubs in England, you basically never hear from them, they just get about their business quietly and professionally.

  2. I loved KT when he played for us but signing him would be highlighting everything that is wrong with our club recently. We should be looking to bring in players with sell on value, not older players, with terrible injury problems who will no doubt just end up collecting a wage whilst lying on the injury table.

Our centre midfield for next season should be McLeod and Black or Hutton. No need to sign another.

  3. sir walter isnt the best guy for that i am afraid. we were facing financial meltdown and he was moaning because the bank would not let us splash out millions on new players. he has no concept of living within our means.

Well someone needs to tell him if that is seriously what he thinks. It would be a real worry for me if that was the way the club was going at this stage.

  4. If Ally is serious about paying 8k p/w to Bell and 16k p/w to Alexander then we have a real problem imo. That would be 1.25 million per year excluding any bonuses and signing fees for goalies while playing in the 2nd div! One decent goalie is more than sufficient for where we are at the moment and if Ally doesn't see that someone on the board, Sir Walter for example, needs to go down and tell him to wise up.

  5. Do you have any idea how our budget compares to the likes of say Aberdeen or Hibs for youth development? double, treble.... 10x ?

Also say we scout a player from Inverness and want to sign him how does that work? do we need to shift him to Glasgow or does he just commute at the weekend for a training session? I imagine if its the former that would cost a bloody fortune if you were doing it for multiple players.

Sorry nae idea how any of this works...

  6. I would be stunned if Bell was on more than 2k personally.

He won't come to us for that imo. No real evidence to support it but i imagine he will get a decent bump in salary to come to us. Just used 5k to make the calculation nicer.

  7. Bell would be a decent addition but it's at CB & MF creativity where we're well short at the moment.

Alexander is out of contract at the end of the season so i would probably say goalie and CB are priorities, Mid and Attack wise are still way above what is required for div 2.

  8. All people signing up for the newco were "great" - probably not on the park, but off it. Might have made that more clear.

As for one goalie. You know what happens. While it may work fine, with our luck (just look at our strikers) that experienced goalie gets injured and we are left with a rookie. While me may have the best rookies in place there, who knows whether they can actually handle the pressure in front of 45k demanding people every two weeks. Even experienced campaigners have failed there (and often). Or, as McKay put it, ...

You would be able to get another goalie in on emergency loan or get an out of contract goalie. Its not ideal, but at the moment Alexander is costing us 15k p/w and say Bell conservatively on 5k p/w so that's 1mil + bonuses etc to play between the sticks in div 2 and 1 (or div 3 again if the SFA have their way) is just way OTT. As i say when we are back in Europe or even the SPL yes you need 2 decent goalies but until then it is just overkill.

In fairness to Alexander he probably looks worse than he really is at the moment because are centre backs leave him exposed too much but his wages alone for me says he needs to go at the end of the season...regardless of how good or bad he has been.

  9. Can't say that I saw Bell more than when he played against us. A club like Rangers needs two experienced goalkeepers, one of whom will most likely remain disappointed. Alexander was great in 2008, even greater in 2012 and will most likely remain with us for next season. I see his point in wanting a "longer" contract and wouldn't deny him that or the wish to have another spell down south. He's still good enough for the Championship. He had some "problems" this season, but so too had his makeshift-everchanging defence.

As for Bell, I only start to get excited when he's up in Auchenhowie signing a contract. Speaking of that place, it might be a blow to Gallagher and Currie more than Alexander, but these guys desperately need to go out on loan and play competitive footie first.

I must have missed this great year in 2012. We shouldn't be giving out contracts as favours or pats on the back, he isn't good enough simple. We need 1 experienced goalie and a decent youngster with where we are at, at the moment. Only way that would change imo is if we were playing in Europe again.

  10. I really hope we sign him and punt Alexander.

Alexander isn't good enough for us and is a total liability when it comes to crosses in the box or balls over the top. Far far too slow off his line. Not to mention his distribution which is probably the worst i have ever seen from a professional goalkeeper.

  11. I've taken this from another forum which i think shows we don't need to worry here:

Just to make something clear here. Any creditor can issue a winding up order. If Man United owed me £2.50, I can seek a winding up petition against them. I wouldn't get granted it, but it's one tactic that some less than favourable creditors use to try and scare businesses into paying them monies that are currently argued over.

Seeking a winding up order and being granted one are HIGHLY different things, and a winding up order doesn't say anything about the financial liquidity of a business.

  12. Alexander was shocking imo. He needs to go. Look at the difference between their goalie and Alexander at cross balls...he came for everything and we didn't cause them any bother from any corners. Alexander on the other hand didn't come for 1 and they were causing us problems all day from crosses. Also i think a Klos, McGregor, Goram would have saved that first goal, maybe a tad harsh on him but that is the sort of calibre we expect from our goalie.

Shiels is another that must be benched. He has been crap since he signed. I genuinely thought he would do well for us but fact is he just isn't performing. Give McKay a run in that role if Ally persists on this 1 up front nonsense.

Little is wasted out on the right, needs to be through the middle.

  13. Does this numpty not understand that if this law had been in place, no-one would have managed to buy us and we would no longer exist. So now we have a company that is paying tax to the government versus a club out of business paying zero tax and resulting in redundancies with some people likely needing benefit support!

  14. ... maybe so, yet you also have to look at things like: what sort of quality do we demand, what sort can we realistically expect to get (money-wise) and whether that sort of quality will come (to the fourth or third tier of Scottish football - no matter the name). IMHO, the likes of Black, Templeton or indeed Alexander and Wallace are very much the exception to the norm. If e.g. a Jamie Murphy would like to come, I would not hesitate and put him ahead of e.g. a Boyd on a wishlist.

Edit: Just noted that Mr. Murphy has decided to sign for mighty Sheffield United this month and won't be coming in the next three years ...

Well with the quality we have at the moment, Little, Shiels, Sandaza we have sufficient to be able to beat our level of opposition. It certainly doesn't justify spending over the odds for an older player on a poor run of form.

  15. i am not sure he is tbh. he is a liability. a complete bombscare. perry deserves a chance to establish himself and cribari has settled very well looking quite accomplished.

Agree on Cribari he has looked really assured the past couple of games. But as with all of our players at the moment we will only get a real idea of there quality when up against better quality opposition.

  16. BTW, I do not know what sort of form he is in now (though Ally & Co. will), but if you'd ask me whether I'd have him or Kyle, I know whom I would chose - and no disrespect for Kevin here. IMHO, Sandaza showed what he can do these last few games, but he needs a predator-striker about him. While we probably all agree Boyd was not an international class striker, he sure knew how to put them away in Scotland. Given the opposition we are to face these next couple of years, I have no doubt that he would get into double figures in no-time.

That said, I'll only get excited if he actually signs up. We'll hear much more rumour-mongering these coming weeks and months ... and I don't want to spend too much life-energy on rumours alone.

I agree with what you are saying but we shouldn't be picking between Boyd and Kyle because we shouldn't have either in our team.

Expensive for the position we are in, what they offer and lack of ever being able to recoup the expenditure further down the road. You just have to read books like the Secret Footballer to realise players make a killing when moving out of contract. They get massive signing on fees so when you add that to wages these guys command are getting costing us way more than what is necesarry.

  17. If i recall correctly a paper said he was getting another chance by his club in Italy.

Yup here we go - http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/rangers/goian-set-to-stay-in-italy-after-reprieve-110817n.19751916

However, he is back in the Spezia squad after serving his suspension.

And manager Michele Serena has now declared he wants Goian in his plans. He said: "Dorin is a professional, he has always trained with great dedication and commitment and has our trust.

"Do not forget that he is foreign and they often need time to settle in.

"Yes, it's true that he played in Italy before with Palermo, but the situation is very different.

"He still has time to settle in with us and he will be an important player for us in the second half of the season."
