  1. DMAA, I take your point about lack of end product particularly goals but prior to the introduction of Defoe this might also have been said about other players in the team. At various times during the season we have been heavily reliant on Tav providing the spark that leads to a goal. Both Kent and Middleton need to improve certain, different, aspects of their game. Incidentally, I thought Tav would have been a better candidate for POTY.
  2. Being nominated for POTY and YPOTY suggests otherwise.
  3. Johnnyk, not doubting your recollection of the conversation but I am surprised that SG would make a comparison with one of our current players.
  4. I thought he was strong in the air but just average on the ground. Against a quick and lively centre forward I think his deficiencies might have been more exposed than they were today.
  5. We saw about a week ago Aberdeen drew with Celtic by sitting deep and going man to mani in the midfield. We knew it was likely they would do the same against us. Equally predictable was the team and shape we played; this would not have been a surprise to McInnes. Aberdeen were in their comfort zone playing the game they wanted to play. I think SG should have have started with one or two surprises, such as two up front, a backline of 3 or at least something that would be different from our norm. Aberdeen would then have to react and possibly we would have more joy as they adapted. Another issue apparent from last night is how bereft we are off game changers on the subs bench. Davis and Coulibaly have both been mediocre of late and so far Lafferty and Defoe have been ok but not much more than that. I think there is plenty for SG to ponder over.
  6. Good to see Worrall getting his goal and he put in some solid tackles in the second half.
  7. I think Alfredo may well leave in the Summer to an EPL club anyway but with Rodgers being more aware of his potential I think it just increases slightly such a move happening. Losing Kent to Leicester would be a blow.
  8. I think Kamara's top must have been through the wash a few times.
  9. I think one of the issues for Kent is that teams have sussed out he is one of our most creative outlets and are looking to stifle him by doubling up and reducing the space in which he operates. I would, however, agree that he needs to play with his head up a bit more and when to charge forward and when to pass.
  10. It was a disgraceful high boot by Power. You can see that just prior to the incident Power had a look and knew Jack was there and likely to head the ball. Therefore it appears to me that the high boot by Power was premeditated and that it had a good chance of connecting with Jack's head.
  11. I felt Morelos had a rather mixed game on Saturday, at times very good while at other times he was a bit slack especially in his passing. i also think there was no need for him to tackle the St.Mirren player from behind and pick up a booking; although the StMirren player did make the most of the tackle.
  12. As a bit of light relief I think the first five of Vass's pics of the training today would be worthy of a caption contest.
  13. Oh good, we will be able to field a defence of five goalkeepers. Presume, Wes and/or Jak must be going.
  14. Unfortunately, possibly on the ball as well.
  15. John, you will need to change your avatar though I have to say I always considered Bill as more of the Victor Meldrew type. ?
  16. I agree with the above and think that the relationship between the players is something that needs a lot work on the training ground. There were one or two spells in the match where we appeared cohesive and offered a lot of threat but unfortunately, these occasions were too limited.
  17. I did not think any of the two of them filled me with confidence in the Helsinki game though Katic looked a bit more comfortable than Worrall. I also expect McAulay to play plus one of the other two.
  18. it would appear that being provocative does pay dividends.
  19. Is the inference here that it might have been his son who was driving?
  20. Rangers 2 Celtic 2 FGS: Morelos
  21. Agreed, but other teams might also have improved with bringing in loan signings and their use of plastic pitches.
  22. I think it should not be underestimated how difficult it can be to create goal scoring chances when the opposition have nine/ten players behind the ball and the penalty box is congested. It requires a good understanding between the players, a good awareness of space and for the players to have good technical ability. Rousseau mentions Man City which is a good example but they have Aguero, DeBruyne, Sterling, Jesus and especially Silva. We do not have comparable players and this makes it even more difficult for us to create chances against a packed defence. We, thus resort to crossing the ball into the box from the wings with a consequent low success rate of conversion into goals. this is not helped at times by the quality of crossing especially from the right hand side. As an aside I think we saw in previous games that when Kent is on his game how he can create chances for himself and space for others. I had hopes that Ejaria might fulfil the role of playmaker but unfortunately those hopes have been dashed.
  23. Looking at past galleries of the players training Ejaria looks a touch isolated and never seems to be laughing and joking with the other players. I am not sure who would be his buddies at Rangers, possibly Kent at a pinch. It would therefore not surprise me if the issue for him as a young player was not being that settled at Rangers or in Glasgow.
