  1. In no particular order: Blade Runner Amélie Kagemusha Don't Look Now Assault on Precinct 13
  2. I thought in the first half we were quite good offensively, with some cute inter- passing and movement but just lacked that final touch. If we had improved that aspect then we could have been 2 or 3 goals in front. in the second half we lost our way whether due to tiredness after the midweek game or Motherwell changing how they played. Unfortunately, our defence always looked likely to concede, for example we were lucky when Watt went through after a basic punt from Kelly and a few times we should have just cleared our lines rather than attempt to play out from a restricted space near he corner flag. Ariba is a really talented but frustrating player, too often he holds onto the ball too long, becomes surrounded by opposition players and we lose possession. He needs to learn when to hold onto the ball and when to release and play a telling pass.
  3. I don't want to intrude on your bun fight with r_s but it is more than just semantics, it is about the meaning attached to the different versions.
  4. I think Rangers chance of finishing in the top 2 and qualifying for Europe has more or less gone with the (1 - 2) defeat to Celtic today. We have dominated Celtic in all the games this season but lost them all to a 1 goal margin. Today, we had lots of possession but little end product, indeed we hardly had a meaningful shot on goal in the second half. Celtic flooded the midfield and mainly defended and harried the Rangers players. We didn't have any fluidity or inspiration in the top third of the pitch. Both of Celtic's goals came from corners and in both cases arose from poor marking by us. For the first one Zoe Ness didn't track the runner and the Celtic forward had a free header on the ball. For the second goal the Rangers defenders were slow to defend the front post and their forward had a simple header into the goal. The Rangers goal was a speculative effort from outside the box which went in just under the bar, though their goalkeeper should probably have saved it. Before the match the Celtic manager more or less said Rangers would have more possession but that Celtic were more clinical upfront and that is how it turned out. We have probably spent more than Celtic in recruiting players and probably have more skilful players and therefore should be performing better than we did today. Within Rangers, there needs to be some focus on whether the current management team is getting the best out of the players. Today, apart from one forced substitution we didn't bring on any subs until about the last five minutes which was too late for them to make an impact. I suppose you could argue in defence that we were missing three players due to injury and sadly up front the loss of Megan Bell and Kirsty Howat seems be showing. The final game is against the leaders, Glasgow City but even if we beat them then we need to hope one of the other teams beat Celtic. An unfortunate irony is that if we do beat City then Celtic may possibly win the league.
  5. A very difficult decision with so many players making excellent contributions but I give it to Tavernier for his goals, assists, captaincy and sound defending.
  6. In the previous game against St.Johnstone, Gerrard rested about half his team with a view to the important fixture being the cup quarter-final. In all his interviews he stressed that the focus was on winning the quarter-final against St.Johnstone. So, for him the game was not a dead rubber but a real opportunity to progress and perhaps win the Scottish Cup. A number of players let Gerrard down and it should be apparent to him that a few changes need to be made. It has been evident from the past few games that Davies is our playmaker and anchor in midfield and without him I am not sure who is capable of doing a similar role. In hindsight, playing the game against St.Johnstone a few days before was actually more beneficial for them than to us because achieving a draw gave them confidence and they gained practice sitting in, pressing our back line and going for the quick break.
