  1. We must never forget. Never forget the utter waste of milions of the most productive of humans lives; never forget the devastation of the lives of those who were left; never forget what happens when an unelected elite plays pawns with the lives of young men; never forget the bombast, the jingoism and the false patriotism of those who stood on the sidelines encouraging others to die for their own machismo and national inferiority complexes. Never forget the manipulation and propaganda which lead millions to end their lives early so that a few could continue to enjoy the high life.

When you "remember the Somme"; ask yourselves what it is you are remembering.

Tell me again how much Scottish football owes you, Scotty? Apart from the comedy value, I make it one good season in the past 5 years.

  3. Self defence is just that - defending yourself from an attack. It doesn't mean running after the wee beggar that gave you a girly push kicking out with your booted foot and trying to land a haymaker of a hook to his head.

Let's re-enact this with a change of costume. A defeated Ranger approaches a 'Well guy and offers a handshake. The arrogant victor turns away. Our hero, disapointed by the cad's lack of sportsmanship, gives him a wee push and moves to leave the scene. The 'Well guy turns, pursues and the kick and punch scenario takes place. Two or three of our fellows rush to the aid of our chap.

Where do we all stand on this?

Only, you're not just changing the costume; you're changing the entire scenario.

The shove in the back was violent conduct pure and simple and Erwin deserved everything he got. Mohsni should have received a three match ban for violent conduct and not a minute more. The fact that he has been so heavily punished and the Motherwell mob, for that is what they were, got off practically scot free can be put down only to the teams they play for.

  4. I think the Motherwell fans are simply magnificent. Not only did they sit on their hands and keep quiet to police and stewards about this group of Rangers fans sitting in their midst during what has been described as the most important game in their club's history, but even after this group of rowdy huns had disgraced themselves by throwing a flare, the 'Well fans continued to remain silent and gathered round their bluenosed enemy, protecting them from being lifted by the long arm of the law.

But then, if this wasn't admirable enough, once the game had finished these very same exemplars of sportsmanship ran over en masse to commiserate with the Rangers fans and to applaud them warmly and with sporting affection and to wish us a speedy return to the top flight.

Good on the Record for bringing these wonderful deeds to light.

  5. Great stuff D'Art. Brilliant. I just had to see the name Harry Davis and I knew something was on.

But Oleg above is right. Ice with the Macallan? Never. Water is permissable but better in a separate glass. A great dram the Macallan, though three or four are better. Treat it properly.

I put it down to George being so depressed that he was no longer responsible for his actions. But, still....

  6. Worth noting that our site has been asked by Puma to help promote the new kit which we've now politely declined.

That's a pity but there's no way we can ask any Rangers fan to buy items that the club apparently benefits from less from than other parties.

And that would most likely have cost you a pretty penny; so kudos and hats off to you guys for putting your money (or lack of, now) where your mouth is.

  7. This is a very valid point RPB.

Who will sign for them and run the risk of not being successful in a third rate league without Rangers in it?

Look at their recent flop signings & flop loanees such as Boerrigter, Tonev and the Ghanian winger whose name I can't remember.

Where do they go now? They're all out their way out. Not exactly going to be getting EPL offers are they?

What Celtic are doing, and doing exceptionally well it has to be said, is identifying top quality prospects from all over the place, buying them for peanuts and moving them on for a handsome sum as soon as they can. They are now every bit as much a selling/feeder club as Dundee Utd or Hibs. That is their future; downsizing and bargain basement shopping.

  8. I knew we were hated when we were on top, but at the time I took the majority of it as banter seeing as we were the club everyone was chasing.

The level of hatred we have amassed since 2011 has actually astonished me. I have and always intend to be a fan of football for the football aspect, somewhere along the way, rivalry got lost and it has turn into something much more destructive. I hope it improves.

Lord of the Flies, mate - and we're Piggy

  9. Does anyone know how long a warranty lasts on a Samsung TV?

I got one about a year ago and it was working fine until yesterday, when it looked like there were hundreds of Motherwell fans on the pitch. There's no mention of any such thing in today's press, so I reckon the horizontal hold must be broken on my TV and I'm wondering if that's still covered by the warranty.

  10. I don't want McCall kept on but I totally agree that people are pointing out his failures and forgetting to add his positive side.

I'm pretty much in this camp, too. I think McCall has proven himself as an excellent manager and if the board decide to give him the job then I'll support him. Having said that, I'm hoping that King pulls a blinder and we find ourselves on the brink of another Souness style revolution with a visionary appointment to match.

McCall is a class act as a person; he has style, class and dignity, he's proved that he can get cash-strapped clubs to punch above their weight for extended periods. That may be where we are and what we need right now. Pragmatically, maybe McCall is the answer.

  11. McCall's managerial record is not great. What is there in it to suggest he is the best candidate for the job?

His record at Motherwell. For where we are and for what we need over the next two seasons, I'd say he's qualified.

  12. He was a failure at Bradford and Motherwell. He made tactical mistakes and stupid substitutions in his short time with us.

A failure at Motherwell? His record was 'best of the rest' for three straight seasons outperforming much bigger and wealthier teams, with a club which had no money, during which time he put together a team, the nucleus of which has just given us a 6-1 spanking. I'll admit I don't always agree with his lineups, but then I didn't get us to the play-off final; he did.

  13. get a grip, ffs, man. How can you call McCall a management failure? He inherited a shambles of a team in freefall, and took us to a playoff final. Give him a year with his own players, who play the way he wants them to play and if we don't walk the league next season, then call him a failure.

  14. Ally did the same and resigned when the going got tough and his team's prospects for the season looked bleak. Ally did have some very serious off-field issues to deal with including the redundancies of long serving members of Rangers staff, but I personally think he did almost exactly the same as McCall did at Motherwell and bailed because the tide was against him.

That's an outrageous statement to make. McCall recognised that he had run out of the energy required to manage that team properly and had the dignity and professionalism to resign his position to allow someone else to take over, for the good of the team and the club. The fact that the board screwed up an appointed Barraclough is a different matter.

Far from giving up "when the going got tough" or "the tide was against him", McCall had the honesty, humility and character to recognise that the job was one that he was no longer the best man for and he fell on his sword accordingly.

A man with those qualities will always do for me as manager of Rangers.
