By: Scott Burns Published: Tue, July 1, 2014 The Bluebirds offered the midfielder a fresh two-year deal yesterday. Gers boss Ally McCoist is keen to sign Cowie, who is out of contract this summer. The 31-year-old played a major part in helping the Welsh side reach the Premier League, but then lost his place last season. Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer holds the key and if Cowie gets an assurance that he will get his chance then he is likely to remain. Rangers have been on the former Ross County player’s trail for weeks. McCoist spoke to the player and then asked chief executive Graham Wallace to make an offer, but it’s understood that has not yet happened. Blackburn Rovers are also keen on Cowie. McCoist, who is hoping to add another two players, has already signed strikers Kris Boyd and Kenny Miller, and defender Darren McGregor from St Mirren.
  2. If memory serves, the SFA have shown examples of their disciplinary interjections. Wasn't it a few years ago when they were dealing with a complaint about the Celtic fans emitting forth with offensive chanting? The Roll of Honour, I believe. The SFA decided that no action against the club was required because the club had taken all reasonable and necessary steps within their power to advertise the club's request that the crowd should not engage in offensive chanting or singing. No action was taken against Celtic, who were at that time represented by Paul McBride. It may not be exactly the case but words to that effect. Anyway, haven't Rangers taken the same steps of encouraging the fans not to engage in offensive chants on a regular basis? Ergo, the SFA have set a precedent. Now, what UEFA would think of that I don't know. And this time, if required, the RFFF can fund for a lawyer's defence.
  3. Green's foresight got him a chateau in France. That's all he cared about.
  4. You know what, I think we should sign you up as CEO, Director of Football and Manager. You really do have the whole thing sussed out.
  5. Never happen, Gary. They'll take but very seldom give.
  6. You can add Perry to the 'Outs' ... http://www.rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/item/7097-perry-to-leave-club Friday, 27 June 2014 17:00 Perry To Leave Club Written by Rangers Football Club RANGERS Football Club can confirm that Ross Perry’s contract has been cancelled by mutual consent. The 24-year-old defender progressed through the youth ranks at Murray Park and was part of the under-19 side that won domestic doubles in 2006/07 and 2007/08. After two loan spells with Oxford and Falkirk he then forced his way into Ally McCoist’s first team and made his debut against Inverness Caley Thistle in August 2011 when he replaced Kyle Bartley. Perry signed a new four-year deal with Rangers in September 2011 but after making 23 appearances in 2012/13 and earning international recognition at under-21 level with Scotland injury problems halted his career and last season he did not feature in any first-team games for the club. Everyone at Rangers would like to wish Ross all the best for the future.

  8. There may not be a Ramsdens cup unless there has been progress since this article ... http://www.thecourier.co.uk/sport/football/sponsorship-wrangle-holds-up-ramsdens-cup-draw-date-1.420254 Sponsorship wrangle holds up Ramsdens Cup draw date 13 June 2014 8.25am. The SPFL have not yet set a date for the first round draw of the Ramsdens Cup as talks with the league’s only sponsor have reached an impasse. The financial services and pawn-broking company have backed the competition for the last three seasons. However, no deal is in place for the new campaign, which kicks off with first-round ties on July 26. Talks over a fourth year have reached a stalemate as the competition is seen as a far different proposition to the one Ramsdens first backed in 2011. Not only are Rangers, who lost in the final last season to Raith Rovers, in the knock-out cup next month but Hearts and Hibs will also be involved for the first time. Ironically, Hibs never played in the Challenge Cup, as it was back in 1998-1999 when they spent a year in the First Division, as the cup was not staged — due to a lack of sponsorship. The SPFL are believed to be looking to increase the backing they receive due to the increased exposure the cup now receives or tie it in to a deal which covers sponsorship of their four leagues. Ramsdens have not yet walked away from the competition. However, no further talks are planned at this time, with a SPFL spokesperson saying: “The first round draw of the Challenge Cup was traditionally held at the SFL’s end of season meeting in May. There is still plenty of time for it to be held.”
  9. I hear what you're saying and I agree on your main point, but it's going to take more money than we're paying the present coaching staff to re-build MB's team, which we all want. None of what you're advocating can happen until we get a board that will release the required amount of money, across the whole spectrum, to give us the quality we require. p.s. happy hour, now.
  10. I think I understand what you want here when you make the statement "we have wasted an excellent opportunity to properly re-build whilst in the lower leagues". However, can you tell me with what ( where was the money to come from ), and with whom ( what players were available to us for the same cost as our bosman signings )? We have used just about all of the young players in our system that appear to be ready for the first team, and when we played a team with more than four or five of our young players at the one time ( for a while in Div. 3 ) we found the team to be lacking what was required to win for the fans. We have not had the resources ( which could be blamed on the sp*vs ) to buy a backbone of say five players in the 23-27 year old range about which to "properly rebuild" our team. There are too many teams in the EPL, the Championship, SPL etc. sifting through the same barrel of talent for us to compete with them. So, please, tell me why or how it is that we wasted our "excellent opportunity". I know the football on show is crap, but we have won two leagues in a row and will probably win the Championship too at first time of asking.
  11. That doesn't make sense. They are businessmen, why would they run a global brand as a third rate club? The fans won't keep paying forever, ask Celtic about that.
  12. Go back and look at some of your previous posts and see how many times you have lambasted older players and informed us of how we are missing a great opportunity to introduce a youth policy at this time in the lower leagues. I have personally asked you if by using McKay, Hutton, McLeod,Crawford, Gallagher, Aird etc. , "do we not have enough youth?". For me 2 or 3 young players at a time is enough. Don't ask me to clarify if you don't want me to be specific.
  13. Good one, but you're no longer talking football, are you? p.s. the beautiful game.
  14. Well, you've always lamented about Ally's penchant for playing members of the old boys' club and how he should be playing more youth, and here you are advocating that he should go for one of those very same old boys. Confusing !!
  15. Costa Rica win 1-0 against Italy. England out. Italy and Uraquay in tie breaker next.
  16. I think you're wrong to dismiss this guy's efforts because of your early cynicism. A lot has been uncovered since then. Here are a few links ... http://footballtaxhavens.wordpress.com/2014/06/19/margaret-margaret-did-celtic-tell-you-there-was-meeting-in-brussels-on-their-eu-state-aid-land-deals-the-day-after-the-wsha-meeting/ http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=35au33c&s=8#.U6R3G-mmdD8 http://footballtaxhavens.wordpress.com/2014/06/20/so-willie-haughey-owns-celtic-park-but-the-question-for-celtic-shareholders-is-why/ You may wish to avail yourself of the other information on the site before making a statement on something which you admit to having no idea about. What difference does it make if he winds up a few yahoos on twitter, the investigation by the E.C. is under way using among other exhibits, his information. Now it turns out that Celtic don't even own the ground upon which their stadium is built (I wonder what their own shareholders feel about that ). So, I refer you back to my original post to Hildy about Celtic having to possibly deal with " seemingly unlikely scenarios " of their own before they manage to make their flight of fancy. Depending on the level of gullability and/or corruption of the E.C board, we shall see what Celtic have to deal with.
  17. You don't believe that he has produced enough real evidence to cause Celtic harm?
  18. Not quite sure to whom you are referring here.
  19. Before you contemplate Celtic's lofty disappearance, one of the `unlikely scenarios` you speak of may happen. Them having to face the real possibility of setbacks from dodgy land deals and dodgy mortgages, etc. If they do have to face a punishment for any of these scenarios, who would be interested in having them then? Sporting Integrity indeed.
