  1. Jeff Randall is the type of guy who would be ideal to serve on our board as a non executive director. He is someone with a good business brain, someone who would know the right questions to ask and who would not be afraid to ask them. Someone who identifies with the traditions of our great club. It may be that it would be unrealistic to ask him to contribute in this way, due to his heavy TV commitments but if we are to progress it is men or women of his calibre and with an impeccable background that we should be seeking to recruit.
  2. Not sure it matters what. David Longmuir thinks. The SFL first division clubs will support this proposal, while the division 2 and 3 clubs will be happy doing what they are doing now and are likely to be indifferent. The SPL want this operating from next season and as a member club there is little we can do about it. It is a certainty that Doncaster will get the nod as CEO. The hefty increase in salary, which he received recently, demonstrates that he is seen as useful. He has shown that he is skilled as being a yes man.
  3. On Saturday, BBC Scotland were banned. This decision was presumably approved by the board. Now, we are told that a decision Ion taken at a board meeting yesterday has become known to one of the people who was the subject of the ban. Now, it may be that this is just another example of McLaughlin's mischief making but if it is true, there is an enemy within our boardroom.
  4. Any potential sponsor and TV companies who need advertising revenue will pressurise the SPL people to invite Rangers back and they are unlikely to ignore such a demand. I suspect that the SPL crowd will come up with some fudge followed by an invitation to Rangers to join a SPL2. Surely, we would decline. Firstly, because this will let down the SFL people, who helped us out but do we really want to be in a hurry to associate with the very people who only recently tried hard to rob Rangers of legitimately won titles. It is a certainty that the condition of the SPL will be weaker at the end of next season and Rangers can negotiate from a position of strength and when our situation at the club is more stable.
  5. The Hamilton chairman was on the radio saying that a redistribution of wealth was crucial. Where is the wealth? If the existing SPL clubs do find that they can find some wealth to be redistributed amongst the lower league clubs, presumably Rangers should be included as a beneficiary!
  6. Ally's record with signing overseas players has been pretty dreadful. I can't figure out why we would bother with a player who has done the rounds, with little success. This hit or a miss approach doesn't make sense for me.
  7. Wouldn't be surprised if Donald Findlay recommended Roy Martin. DF certainly does care about Rangers and he will know the high calibre people, capable of overseeing this investigation and making a true and fair judgement of its findings.
  8. Back in late March, I posted the question ""What does Jim Traynor actually do?" Someone referred me to Google, which was not the point of my question. JT is an intelligent and gifted communicator and no doubt is well paid. More or less on a daily basis, the media come up with some negative story related to Rangers and to be fair to them, they have been provide with ammunition. However, the quality of communication coming out of the club has been at times, confusing, contradictory and unhelpful. Too often, there has not been any response to dubious media contributions. Can anyone now assist me with my original question? What does Jim Traynor actually do?
  9. Guys who have accumulated enough wealth to enable him to invest £1m. of his own money into the club are guys who enjoy new challenges and the CEO's post at Rangers is most certainly a big challenge. Gunslinger's right to suggest that Craig Mather has plenty on his plate at present but he probably has good people on his team that he can rely on. Time will tell but this seems an OK appointment.
  10. So much for the cleansing process that Ally was talking about!
  11. SDM has forfeited his credibility. He totally failed to get CW checked out properly or worse still, he did get him checked out but went ahed with the sale anyway. Bluedell is right SDM would have neither the desire or the funds to re-engage with a loss making company but come on, would we welcome him back?
  12. It was the supporters who saved the club. Just hope that we are not having to face going another round.
  13. I am beginning to understand better how the natives of a country must have felt when they were invaded by some foreign power. Does anyone really believe that people.like Craig Whyte, Charles Green, Imran Ahmed, Brian Stockbridge and the others have a genuine interest in Glasgow Rangers Football Club. I don't but instead their interest was solely to gain financially. Most of the countries that were invaded recovered eventually. Who knows, how long our eventually will be?
  14. Sorry, I now realise that. Lesson learned. No posts after 11pm from me from now on. You know what they say about tired minds and today's game was taxing.
  15. You have got the wrong guy STB. I have never bleated about brilliant Rangers men. The point I was trying to make albeit, unsuccessfully was that it is easy to tell others how they should dispose of their money.
  16. People with serious money, in the main, will have accumulated their wealth through prudence and sound judgement. Withe big tax case still outstanding, a reluctance to put up money last summer is hardly a problem. Instead, it seems an understandable decision.
  17. Apart from the media gang who go out of their way to drum up all things negative about Rangers, I am not sure that I understand just who has treated CG shamefully. The board have a responsibility to represent shareholders and the many others who contribute to our club in all sorts of ways. It would have been totally negligent of them if they had failed to set up an investigation into all the recent allegations. If, as I hope, CG is found to be correct in disputing the allegations, the board have done him a favour in arranging for this investigation to take place. Sure, there are others of us who have reservations concerning CG but to express our reservations is hardly shameful.
  18. It is beyond dispute that Charles Green made a positive contribution to Rangers through his raising funds, his courage in defending the club against evil people, his hard work and his willingness to step in to buy the club while others shuffled around. In a way he was helped by the comparison with the previous CEO, Marti Bain, who was ineffective, in many ways. My main beef with Charles Green was that he simply didn't have the capabilities to fulfil the office of CEO at Glasgow Rangers. A look at what he was doing following his departure, I believe in 1998, from Sheffield United is less than inspiring. I have no doubt about two things. The board who are charged with looking after the interests of people who have invested in our club will ensure that they appoint a new CEO who has demonstrated that he or she has a proven business background. The other thing which is beynd doubt is that whenever the appointment is announced, that little cretin, Chris McLaughlin, will be outside Ibrox to cast doubt over the appointment and his pals at BBC Scotland, like Enlish, Speirs, Cosgrove and the rest will be finding all sorts of negative things to say. And so it goes on.
  19. Presumably the letter sent to the people to tell them of their intention to close part of the Richard Donald stand was sent out prior to the reconstruction meeting on Monday. Even if the proposals had gone through, This indicates that Aberdeen were not anticipating an increase in attendances. It also supports the contention that their main hope lay with TV money.
  20. The SFL board are apparently due to meet on Thursday. So what do you think that they should do? I think the smart thing is just to note the outcome of the SPL meeting and do nothing else? Doncaster has said that the deal was for the entire package and to run with parts of it wasn't a starter. They didn't get the entire package through, so the SPL people don't need to do anything . The first division clubs, led by the Hamilton chairman have been making noises but realistically, what they can do? The SPL having failed to get their proposals through are unlikely to have the funds that were previously on offer to the first division clubs. If as most people suspect, the SPL are in soapy bubble over a TV deal, the SFL board are in a strong position. No matter how devious they are, Doncaster and his crew are boxed in. Milne's face.when he left the meeting betrayed his feelings more powerfully than his harsh words. I hope that the SFL guys have long memories and grasp that they can afford to be patient. In time, they will get the concessions that they are after without agreeing to the 12-12-18, splits and the zero points nonsense. Should be an. Interesting time ahead.
  21. That's because they are strange people.
  22. The different views being expressed underlines that the decision to appoint independent people to examine all aspects of this affair is the correct one.
  23. There will be some of us, myself very much included, who perhaps feel, a bit out of our depth, while trying to get our heads around much of the financial intrigue. There was one man, who most certainly not have been out of his depth and that is David Murray. He may have been the one who was duped by CW but it is so many others, who have a genuine love for our club, who are feeling the pain.
  24. I can't imagine that whatever the investigation comes up with that Charles Green will want to stick around for too long. He will be looking to exit whenever he feels that it is most financially beneficial for him to do so.
  25. If Ally feels that he needs a consistent defender, Charles might well recommend simplythebest!
