  1. Wallace in seemingly coming up with a reduction in player's salaries, as his first cost cutting initiative indicates poor judgement. Any decent leader would have surely announced actions to reduce costs related to the board. It may be that he is just doing what he is told. Presumably, those on the board are being financially rewarded for their "work." Yet, they need to hire this bloke, Philip Nash. While I have reservations re. Paul Murray, at least he and his two colleagues gave a pledge to serve on the board on an unpaid basis. It would be nice to hear some of our existing board members making a similar pledge.
  2. So some think that the players should agree a wage cut. So some think that Dave King should open his wallet and plough his money into the club. Seems that there is never a shortage of people advising others on how they should handle their income or spend their money.
  3. That seems to be a very possible scenario. Wallace was bound to know that bringing in another financial guy would lead to difficult questions being asked so it is likely that the hiring of Nash is part of a wider agenda.
  4. It is not unreasonable to expect anyone doing a job for a number of years, to show signs of improvement. It doesn't come across to me that Ally has progressed much tactically and in player selection. He must know that even his most loyal supporters are fed up with the indifferent displays against very average teams. Football boards often replace the team manager to take pressure off themselves. The mood of the supporters could well provide them with an opportunity. It can't be easy managing a club where there is so much uncertainty but Just feel that Ally needs to do better.
  5. My concern relates to Ally's record on his signings of "overseas" players. Can't think of many who have been obvious success stories.
  6. The phrase "flattered to deceive" seems made for John Fleck.
  7. Is it just not the case that in most other countries, the standard of player is higher elsewhere than here in Scotland. Results of our teams in Europe seem to confirm this and the very few home based players, who are named in the starting eleven of our fairly average national team is a further indication. The overall standard within our Scottish leagues is poor and just why anyone thinks that Rangers should be capable of playing above this standard is puzzling. Sure, we would like to see a much better quality of football but without players of the calibre that Advocaat had available to him, it ain't going to happen. No one wants to be unambitious in their hopes for Rangers but whether it is Ally or anyone else at the helm, there are few reasons to be optimistic in the short to medium term.
  8. There wasn't much more that Walter could have done than win titles and beat Celtic here in Scotland. In spite of his negative tactics, I suspect that not too many of us were disappointed in Walter's management that night in Florence. Think that Super Cooper has hit the nail on the head when he compares the respect that the players had for Walter over Ally. That is often the way it is when a hugely respected manager steps down. The situation at Manchester United is an indication of that. After saying that, there are few still in the current squad who were around when Walter was there and it may just be that Ally hasn't much going for him as a team manager.
  9. Super Cooper hopes that Wallace "has the balls". That seems fair enough if he also has intelligence. He intends raising season ticket prices but to do that and to weaken the squad doesn't seem too smart. Sure, there is scope for reducing the squad size but any review must include looking at what we are paying for our PR, our use of consultancy firms, salaries paid to the likes of Stockbridge, who as Financial Director, must have signed off on some of the excess costs. If Wallace confines his cost reduction programme to only getting shot of players and some behind the scenes staff, he runs the risk of losing part of his main source of income, which is provided by the supporters. The mood displayed at the agm. was not insignificant and how Mr Wallace responds or is allowed to respond, will reveal the quality of the man.
  10. We will all have our views on the capabilities of our players as well as Ally's tactical approach. However, the thing that gave me concern yesterday was that the Stranraer players looked fitter than ours during the last half hour of the game. Whether that was a better fitness level or it just looked that way due to the Stranraer team displaying a greater determination and work rate, who knows. Most of us will recall players who played for the jersey . Not sure that too many of the present squad have shown that quality, which perhaps tells us something about Ally's motivational skills as well as the other two blokes, who stand alongside him at the dugout and who Ally praised generously at the agm.
  11. Is it not the case that the fans anger towards Stockbridge is largely because of his inability?
  12. It should be remembered that many people who identify with Rangers through their physical and financial support are people who have had to work hard to enable them to raise the funds to support the club. It is this that sets such people apart from the characters who have taken money out of the club for their own benefit and the faceless individuals, who are encouraging them to do so, by giving them their support. While I can understand the democracy argument that is being advanced, in any democracy, there is usually the opportunity for the people to register their dissatisfaction, through the ballot box. The way things stand right now, such an option will not be available to the men and women, who have the best interests of the club, as their chief priority. It may prove to be fruitless but I hope that the expressions of opposition directed at most of those, occupying the platform on Thursday, will continue.
  13. There may well have been some who were prepared to give Mr Somers the benefit of doubt, in spite of his earlier statement re. knowing nothing of Whyte and Green and his singling out Stockbridge, for commendation. But, if this latest statement, truly is his interpretation of the mood of the meeting, he is either incredibly naïve or slightly mad.
  14. Sensible words, dB. "Start to work with those board people that they trust". A very big hurdle is identifying such people.
  15. Just shows how badly the club was being run. Only a few months ago, it must have been known that the financial position was dire, yet Ally was allowed to sign, amongst others, players like Foster, Smith, Simonsen etc. when we already had adequate cover. As Financial Director, did Stockbridge not explain that these extra wage bills were unaffordable? If he didn't, it is shameful or if he did and his advice was disregarded, this is just as bad.
  16. In what is an excellent article, Frankie has highlighted that it makes sense to let Wallace to advance steps, which he considers to be both sensible and overdue. One of the first and obvious steps must surely relate to the position of the Finance Director. Unless action is taken to remove Stockbridge from what is a key position in the club, it will indicate that Graham Wallace is unwilling to walk the talk or that he is a prisoner of other board members, who, in spite of the overall voting return, remain suspect, in the eyes of many of the non-large investor shareholders and other good people, who have invested in the club, over many years, through their loyal support.
  17. There are many of us who experience little difficulty in finding negative words to describe some of those blokes seated on the platform today. I left that meeting today with the belief that those on the platform probably felt that there was one word that adequately described those of us who made up the audience. The word is suckers. Apart from Ally, the rest probably enjoyed a quiet laugh.
  18. Correct FS. It is a bit rich for the board to be criticising PM for raising a legitimate question over this leak of sensitive information. They don't seem overly concerned that many people who have invested both money and time, in support of our club, over many years, are being treated as irrelevant.
  19. Is it really that simple, telling other people, how they should spend their money?
  20. It may be that they will watch BS getting put through the mill at the agm and soon after, they will get rid of him, claiming, that this demonstrates that they take heed of the views of the club's supporters.
  21. It has got to the stage that most feel that no one involved in the "leadership" of our club is trustworthy. Can't imagine that the statement from the Easdale boys will change the sense of discomfort.
  22. One of the few statements issued by the board that should not attract criticism.
  23. I guess that they wouldn't have released details of the committee structures unless they were pretty certain that they have the agm votes in the bag.
  24. There has been a succession of people such as Green, Ahmed, Stockbridge and possibly the Easdales, who have become involved with our club. For most of us to be allowed to serve in a leadership role at Rangers would be considered a great privilege. There is little evidence that any of the people listed above, saw/see it that way. Why would someone like David Somers, who seemingly knew very little about our club before being appointed as chairman, consider that he now occupied a privileged position? He has described the requisitioners group as being fanatics. He would do well to make time to meet with some of the people who for many years now have invested their time and money in supporting Glasgow Rangers. They, too, could possibly be described as fanatics and would be happy to explain to Mr Somers, as to why, they were quite pleased to be described, in that way.
