  1. Dunno what's more hilarious. A deadline in early May, or Jig thinking he'll be playing in Europe. Not sure why anyone would get involved with a finance company to spread payments, when it's cheaper to buy single tickets. If this was any other business, other than football, it would be bankrupt within a year. It's quite clear they have no further investment lined up, and they are about reject King.

  2. we have come up against many part time teams who play better football than us.

Aye, and where does it get them? 30 points minimum behind us in the league. There's a big difference to making us look shite, and taking points off us. If we played more of a passing game, and maybe lost 4/5 league games, Ally would probably already be gone. People wouldn't be saying he should stay because we're passing it about nicely.

  3. Agree there tinman but it looks like the bits that ally has forgotten are the important ones..theres nothing like ex players who think they know "the game" because they played it. Honestly some of them are thick as shite and haven't got a fucking clue, but hey they know better than us mere mortals..

While I agree that there is many an ex player that you describe, I don't think Ally is one of them. He served a solid apprenticeship under Walter, both for Scotland, and Rangers. Whatever your opinion on Walter, he knew how to deliver trophies, especially league ones. I do think your average ex-pro has a better idea about professional football than your average punter.

It's much easier to manage Rangers from the comfort of a forum, than it is facing the reality of the job. Having played in our 9IAR row teams, do you honestly think Ally can't see how shite we are? This is what you get when you spend less than a million in transfer fees in the space of 2 years. Journeymen footballers, who are just not very good, or entertaining to watch. No amount of tactical nous in the world is going to make them better players, who look like they couldn't care less.

The board must be loving the hysteria for taking the heat off them for a week, which ironically, they and their predecessors have created.

  4. This is so ironic, given you know absolutely nothing about the subject whatsoever.

    1. As I have previously pointed out, the old firm always win due to their vastly superior resources. Even if we did play very poor football, we won in spite of that due to having vastly superior players, players often earning £20k + per week against players struggling to earn a grand a week. WInning trophies playing poor football does not equate to winning trophies BECAUSE you play poor football

    2. Players like Templeton, Macleod, Law, Shiels etc are not good enough to play a simple pass and move game? Absolute nonsense. If our dire tactics 'clearly are the right tactic', why do we continually get embarrassed in cups. Why on earth would frequently losing possession be a better tactic than intelligently maintaining it? Route 1 football is never the superior tactic at any level whatsoever. If you watched more football you might get a grasp of this.

We illustrated against Dundermline at Ibrox 2 or 3 months ago that our players are very capable of playing a decent passing game.

    3. He has plenty resources to be playing watchable football in part-time leagues. He has the second best squad of players in Scotland but they struggle to scrape two passes together. These teams find a way to not resort to basic, mind numbing route 1 football to win. We illustrated against Dundermline at Ibrox 2 or 3 months ago that our players are very capable of playing a decent passing game.

    4. Upper SPL still means they should be wiping the floor with any lower league sides.

    5. Do Scottish teams not try and get physical with Celtic, how do they manage to cope? Do little teams all over the world not try and stifle out the bigger clubs through strong tactics? It happens in big leagues too.

    You're away with the fairies.

lol. We can debate all day about which one of us is the most clueless. The only thing for sure is, Ally has forgotten more about professional football than either of the two of us will ever know. Both as a player, as an assistant manager, and now as a manager. I agree that the football is absolutely dire to watch. I just disagree about how we got in this position, and what we can do about it.

  5. In reference to your previous points.

SPL teams don't win league titles because they have far less resources than the old firm. Simple as that. I don't watch any SPL games but in Walter's second stint, plus our first season under Ally, we were regularly out passed by SPL teams. In fact I remember a particular spell under Walter where week in week out we were getting played off the park and struggling to get victories. So, we got 'passed off the park', but still invariably ended up winning. Wonder why that was? Does the great passing side not always win?

We don't have any option other than route 1 football? Please explain that ridiculous line of thinking. At any level of football it is possible to play correctly. Simple pass and move. Nobody is expecting anything great but if half decent kids teams can do it, there's no excuse for a group of professionals resorting to horrific, moronic route 1 tactics. All it shows is a lack of ideas and intelligence. Do you not understand how percentage football works? It clearly is the right tactic, especially in the leagues that we have been in lately. Our players are simply not good enough to play this pass and move tactic you crave so much. Comparing to kids games is just ridiculous.

It's not my fault there is no scouting network, it is the club's fault. Many of us have been shouting for over 10 years to get a proper scouting network in place, along with an overhaul of the rest of the archaic infrastructure at the club. The only long term scout we seem to have had is Ewan Chester over two stints and he is completely useless. I never said it was your fault, I said it wasn't Ally's fault. How can he do his job properly, with zero transfer budget, and zero scouting system? How will any new manager deal with this?

Our players are not vastly superior? Well yes they are. Our players are upper SPL players playing against part-timers in the third tier. Wake up. Upper SPL, haha. You say that like it means they are of a decent standard. Any decent Scottish player is in the English Championship, or the lower half of the English premiership.

You honestly seem to think that playing route 1 football somehow gets success in the Scottish game, as if the same collection of players playing an intelligent passing game would somehow be inferior, when in reality they would be vastly superior. Absolutely clueless. You think we are playing route one, we just pissed 2 leagues, and yet you don't think it's successful in Scottish football? You try playing an intelligent passing game against inferior players who's only hope of stopping you is to snap you in half. You're living in a dream world if you expect to see that kind of football at Ibrox anytime in the near future. We play like we do due to our quality of player, and due to the fact that it works. No need for me to return the compliment and call you clueless. You do a good enough job on your own with each passing post you make.

Please don't continue this conversation. I'm bored trying to educate you about football.

  6. I don't remember an incident that would get Wallace injured on Sunday. Perhaps he's been carrying a niggle for a while. He certainly doesn't seem like a player to down tools for any reason. I have a theory that more than a few of the players are just going through the motions since the pay reduction fiasco, but I don't think Wallace would be one of them.

All these niggling injuries to our better players have shown how weak our squad really is. A club of our size shouldn't have a single player on the park that isn't 100% fit.

  7. Rather than all the negativity, how about flipping the discussion to highlight Why McCoist should stay???

    - Devotion to the club through tough times

    - Fantastic team performance against Motherwell last season

    - Won 2 divisional titles in a row

    Anything else???

    He's becoming an experienced manager.

He has a decent record against them.

He stopped them winning the league at Ibrox.

He's had the worst financial backing of any Rangers manager for decades.

He's had to cope with our worst boardroom/s ever.

He's still unbeaten over 90 minutes this season. A decent record no matter who the opposition.

He knows all the words to the Sash.

    He has reasonably white teeth.

He played a part in ridding the club of Green.

No one else in their right mind would currently take the job on. (mercenary aside)

Giving proper backing, I still think he can do a job for us. He learned from the master, and has a good knowledge of the Scottish game.

    He's good at karaoke.

  8. How do SPL teams play half decent football then? I agree with some of what you are saying but our manager should be easily capable of playing half decent, or even just watchable football. SPL teams don't win league titles, no matter how pretty you think their football is. Have you watched an SPL game lately. It's equally as dire as watching us.

Your previous point about requiring to play route 1 football to succeed in Scotland is absolute nonsense. It's not required, we just don't have many other options.

We also, believe it or not, do not just have to sign Scottish players. We can sign players from anywhere. Without a scouting system in place? You try doing your job without one of your most important tools.

PS - We still have vastly superior players to the opposition. We aren't even playing against proper footballers. Your view point is typically Scottish and so negative. Basically saying we are shite, can't aspire to anything and may as well just lump the ball up the park. Even though that is never the best policy and the best we have played in recent years was the tail end of the 10/11 season where we passed and moved with pace and played quality stuff.

The tims seem to win trophies keeping the ball on the deck. Aberdeen won a trophy this season. Our players are not vastly superior, as they are currently proving with each passing week. Better, yes, vastly superior, not a chance. You call it negative, I call it realism.

You post as though you started following us through the 9IAR years. I can assure you, before that we were just as dire.

  9. RM also have one and the result is very similar. He has to go. Let Jackie humiliate him again and then bin him.

I know you're no fan of Ally, but hoping an ex-tarrier humiliates him, and in the process knocks us out is beyond the fucking pale. Even for you.

  10. You're speaking nonsense!

In Walter's first stint we weren't playing total football but we largely kept the ball on the deck and often played fairly decent stuff 'domestically', difficult not to with the likes of Laudrup and Gazza. Why doesn't it work in Scotland? Did it not work originally under Advocaat? Did it not work in 02/03 with Advocaat's players? Across history has a plethora of route 1 teams been the success stories in Scottish football? Or has it been teams featuring the best players that have generally won?

For the avoidance of doubt, we have not won the majority of our trophies in our illustrious history playing route 1 football.

I wasn't Walter's biggest fan by any means but he's 10 times the manager Ally will ever be.

'The style needed to win in Scotland'. fuck me

The football played under Souness, Walter(first stint), and Advocaat, was possible because we had mainly foreign players of a vastly superior quality to the opposition. Those days are gone, and will likely never return. Scotland doesn't produce footballers anymore. The problem is at grass roots level. By the time Ally gets his hands on them, it's too late. His only option is to play route one, percentage football.

Have you ever been at Ibrox when we're one down, and we play a backwards pass or try keep possession in our own half? You have to look around to see if there's been a murder, such is the disdain shown by the support. " get it fucking forward Rangers", "Stop fucking about with it". All popular cries whenever we try and string 3 or 4 passes together in a non-threatening area.

Trophies are everything to our support, decent football comes a distant second. If one our many clear cut chances went in yesterday, this thread wouldn't even exist. I'm no Ally defender, but I can see it for what it is. A shite state of affairs, that Ally only has so much control over. When he gets pumped and replaced by Billy Davies, or some other low achiever that some of you seem to crave, perhaps you will get my point.

  11. What?????????????

Which part of that sentence did you not understand?

You say the football we play has been awful since the days of Walter, and yet, even including the previous 2 season, we are the most successful club in recent times, trophy-wise. The style needed to win in Scotland, doesn't travel well in Europe. Even when we had the Gascgoines, and Laudrups, we often had our limitations exposed in Europe.

PLG being chased out the door after a few months shows that our support has no patience for any style that doesn't produce domestic success. We are in effect, victims of our geography. You disliked Walter, now Ally. I hardly think you will like any new manager who has to deliver the success that we crave. You're living in a dream world if you think any other style of play delivers trophies in the way that we have. Celtic have often had better footballing teams than us, and ended a season with f*ck all. It doesn't work in Scotland.

  12.

Our football culture, frankly, is retarded and suitable only for the bin.

I think you mean' suitable only for Scotland', considering we're the most successful club in this country. I suppose it's Ally's fault that route one, unimaginative football, is the best way to win trophies in our country?

I don't personally think that Ally is a very good manager, but I'm sure there is no one else out there that we can afford, that would do much better under the same circumstances. Assuming all things remain the same at our club, a new man would be lucky to last 6 months before he cracked and said 'fuck this'.

It may sound like I'm defending Ally, but our club is a total basket case, from top to bottom. Our already poor squad is walking wounded/running on empty. The problems we should be worried about run much deeper than having a poor manager and coaches.

  13. As Der Berliner says, let remove the conspiracy tinted specs....

Most likely the guy was either found to be surplus to requirement or wasn't doing his job well enough. It is common place for sacked employees to be escorted immediately off the premises to avoid any "mischief". The would be especially the case if he had access to any potentially sensitive data ie. financials or personal data.

    This is a complete non-story!!!

Agreed. If he was caught with his hand in the till, he would surely have been thrown down the marble stairs.

  14. Is Kyal the No 3? If so the picture seems to show that his foot is at a weird angle, even before the tackle...no wonder he was injured.

He is, and his foot does look at a weird angle. Not surprised JIg went in hard with 2 ******** bearing down on him. Disappointed he never took them both out.

  15. I meant no harm. I wouldn't have said it if I thought STB would've taken it personally, and he obviously hasn't. I actually think he would be a decent poster, if he could figure a way out of the hole he's dug for himself, with his unstinting support for literally everything our boards, past and present do/say. As a vocal opponent of David Murray, I don't understand why he doesn't hold the present incumbents to the same level of scrutiny.

  16. I was trying to make a fair balanced point about our football future, nothing pro or anti board.

I don't care about name calling personally but considering this forum prides itself on being more sensible than other places the tone of that reply seems a bit harsh even if you disagree.

The football on show is a reflection of the seemingly endless supply of incompetent boards. You dislike the football, but you're happy to wait another year for investment, that will improve the football. Sometime you just make zero sense.

I don't usually resort to petty name-calling, but I've been wanting to call you EDIT by craig : you should know better than to engage in personal insults, not just on this thread. It's out my system now:brick:
