  1. Kris Boyd is always linked with some bizarre rich mid table team in some slightly obscure country during and prior to the transfer window.

    And Birmingham :D

As for would I sell him? I feel an on form Miller and Lafferty offer plenty, but it's the 'on form' part they're struggling with.

Please tell me you're kidding Danny. Sell Boyd and then rely on Miller and Laff to fire us to domestic success?

Erm....NO THANKS. Miller, although rich in endeavour, has not and never will have, the quality or the amount of goals in him that's required if we are to have a successful campaign. IMO, Miller is no more than a hard working foil for Boyd.

As for big Kyle, he looks as if he worth about 3.5 postage stamps, nevermind millions of pounds. O.Coyle really did a number on Watty in regards to that transfer. At this moment in time(it might change)there is no way he can be relied upon(like Miller)to fire us to success.

Selling Boyd in the tranfer window would be a disaster IMO. For all his failings as a footballer, he has more goals in him than the rest of the team together, and is absolutely crucial to us winning silverware this season.

  2. Guys I know most of you will disagree with me but it's got to the stage where I want all Scottish teams to do well in Europe because of the coefficient etc. We are trully struggling at the moment on the european front and the better our teams do in Europe the better. Motherwell are in a bit of trouble but is still winnable, Falkirk got a good result but against a Liechtenstein team I think it could've been a lot better. Celtic could realistically go out and if we finish second in the SPL this year (Doubt it like but just incase) then it would affect our CL campaign the following season.

I understand what you're saying mate, but I just can't bring myself to want THEM to win one match, nevermind do well in Europe.

I can honestly say, maybe naievly, I'd rather they f****d up in Europe and we took our chances in the qualifiers, if that was ever to be the case.

Nowadays, I'm of the attitude that anything positive that happens to us in Europe is a bonus. As long as we keep winning the SPL title(no guarantees of course) and the odd cup, I'll be more than happy.

  3. what was the gag? Haven't got access to audio and video at the moment! Does is work in text?!

He was doing a bit on his show about Scotland and the movies. His gag was, what do you call sellick supporters after they've been knocked out of the CL, Silence of the Bams. Brilliant.

  4. Yip, Ken Bruce is a proud bluenose. Mate(also a bear) and myself were in the works van when he cracked that gag, absolute classic. We both had a good hee haw at that one.

I can just picture some rebel scumbag booting his stolen tranny across the room when he heard that one. :flipa:

  5. Ha Ha :D Forgot about that game, I've never laughed so much since the last time Neil Lennon got a kickin'

I'm pretty sure that he'll get destroyed on Saturday even if he'd pulled off ten world class saves in that NI game.

  6. Or just have the resources to out bid them.

I'm yet to be convinced he is worth the hype, but I am judging him purely on games against us which may be unfair.

That's the way he should be judged SA, against the better teams. I've seen him play about a half dozen times or so and at this stage of his career, he looks no better than a 'decent' SPL player.

There's plenty of time to improve of course and being involved week in week out with better players and coaches may really bring him on, but i'm not sure he's technically or physically got what it takes to cope with the demands of the EPL.

  7. Mate at work who is a season ticket holder at Tannadice thinks Feeney is a poor man's Kenny Miller. Plenty of endeavour, but little quality.

Wouldn't get a game before ANY of the strikers we have at the moment IMO.

    Still, a proud BLUENOSE. :rfc:

As For Chris Brunt, I'd think he'd be a decent signing. IMO he's better than Beasley and physically, would be suited to the SPL. Can also take a decent free kick, and let's not kid ourselves, we are gaggin' for a player who can be a regular threat from a set piece.

  8. Stroll in the park Jon. This is the only competition i have faith in Rafa delivering. It suits his style perfectly.

Only one concern, and that's the fitness of Xabi Alonso. Hopefully he'll be fully fit and had a few games under his belt by the time the first game comes around.

Oh yes, i nearly forgot. The return of XA will see that lump o' f*****g wid Lucas getting pumped out the team(hopefully the 16) He truly is the worst player i've ever seen in a Liverpool jersey. Rafa must be s******g Lucas's mum, what other possible reason could he have for playing him. He is WOEFUL. Jay Spearing is waaaaaayyyyyy better an option.

3-1 over the two legs.

  9. Looking at the scum(form and squad) it's certainly there for the taking. If we can take max points from the next six games(easier said than done...I know)I think they'll drop points and that should put us well and truly in the driving seat, and with the heartbreak of last season still fresh in the memory, I personally think that'll spur us on to the title.

Now for a wee reality check.

Walter, without any shadow of a doubt will keep doing what he's been doing, and why shouldn't he? you may ask, given that his footballing philosophies have got us to the top of the league. My main concern is that if we do get our noses a little more in front, Walter will show his trademark caution and look to protect what little advantage we have, rather than being bold, getting after teams and be looking to stretch our advantage.

Basically saying to the rebels(who have blown a seven pt lead and are playing crap) KEEP UP...IF YOU CAN?(wishful thinking, I know). I'd like to see us gallop towards the finishing line, rather than crawl. Unfortunately, it's likely to be the latter.

Ahh f**k it. As long as we win the damn thing..:rfc:

  10. 0-0, with wattie happy to be still only two points behind.

There has never been a better time to play the scum, they're S***E and there for the taking. A chance to go top of the league and at the same time, give them a real psycological slap. :box: :rfc:

Unfortunately, being cautious and making sure we stay in touch will be at the forefront of watties thinking today. Hopefully I'm wrong.

    Anyhoo, MON THE BEARS.

  11. Absolutely amazing. 4th from the right, middle row in the 1970 photo is a good friend of mine, Davie Cairns. We come from the same fife town, Kennoway. We worked together for a few years in Royal Mail.

Absolutely top man, we had some great laughs at work and playing five-a-side. He also ran our work eleven-a-side for a wee while.

If i'm not mistaken, it was a car accident on the way to a game(Partick Thistle i think) that cut short his GERS career. Spent the rest of his career in the lower divisions.

Be interesting to know if anybody on Gersnet knows anybody in the photos personally and has a wee story to tell.

  12. I know it's all rumour and speculation at the moment in regards to outgoing transfers, but hopefully, some of these 'potential' transfers will come to fruition.

If so, this could be a very good transfer window for us. Getting some money in, getting some big salaries off the wage bill and getting rid of players who simply aren't good enough anymore.

The only down point to all this is, do any of us trust wattie to spend any money wisely and strengthen the squad where he needs to. :sigh:

Only time will tell i suppose.

WATP. The not overly confident loyal.
