The writing was on the wall before Gerrard left. Look at the domestic results. We should have been out of sight before he left. The most likely source of our problems was not backing Gerrard in the way that he expected. When that happened he started to think about leaving. The deterioration of the players follows from that. Europe did not cost us the league in that season.

It's wrong to boo Tavernier. He is struggling but he has been very good over his time here. It's right to boo Dessers, given that he is terrible, but I won't be doing it. With somebody like him it is best to just complain about him endlessly online.
