  1. Sell-out!! Well done, Teds Isn't it great just thinking about football now? Long may it continue.
  2. Love how he evades the loaded questions. Long may it continue.
  3. Different game, limeburner. EDIT: No you're right, I misread the posts
  4. Flamboyance derided in Scotland? Who'd a thunkit?!
  5. He'll be getting paid more than we could give him, he'll get a Premiership medal and European football. It's a no-brainer for any pro footballer I'm afraid. Short-sighted perhaps from Allan as I do think he'd develop into a better player under Warburton but nevertheless, footballers have short careers and it's a big gamble for him to wait until January for Rangers when a whole manner of things could've happened by then such as Warbs getting sacked, Allan getting a bad injury, he has a catastyrophic loss of form. He needs to go to Celtc and there's nothing we can do about it and I honestly think if Warburton REALLY wanted him then he'd be here now. (maybe)
  6. BBC saying he's having a medical there just now. Very perplexing move for me. Winners are Hibs though.
  7. He's heading to Celtc of that I'm sure now. Seems Hibs have got a good deal, McGeouch on a premenant transfer and Henderson (who I think is a great player) on loan for a season and Celtc get another option in midfield. Allan could've lived his dream by playing for Rangers had he really wanted to. I understand that as a professional, playing for £15k a week and the lure of Premiership medals and CL football would be difficult to turn down but I honestly don't think he'll get a game for them. He could've waited a year and signed for us, but he could a really bad injury next week which ends his career so I guess he needs to do what he thinks is best for him. Shame but not surprised to be honest. The irony in this is that Danny Wilson, a boyhood Celtc fan, knocked back Celtic to sign for us and now Allan is going to sign for them.
  8. Celtic wouldn't bid unless they've been told that he would go there.
  9. Thought I was going to miss this game as I have a couple of complimentary tickets for Man U vs Newcastle at Old Trafford but thankfully, with the game taking place on the 23rd August, we'll be able to go! Can't wait! Missed the St Mirren game due to holiday so really looking forward to see this new look team. Roll on 2 weeks!
  10. Cash is a commodity that we can't throw about willy-nilly such is the fiscal position of the club at present. For the sake of waiting 5 months, I say wait and sign him in January for nothing and offer Hibs a pittance because I reckon by then, promotion could be all but assured (hopefully!) and they'll have less to lose.
  11. Would love to see Scott Allan in a rangers jersey but to pay £500,000 + for him would be folly. He's in the final year of his contract and plays in the 2nd tier of Scottish football, reality is he should be worth £200,000 tops.

I'm not a big fan of Haris, though if it wasn't for him, we'd have finished outside the play-offs IMO. I think he's a decent player and would do a job but I think he's very slow and a bit predictable.
  13. I'm currently a coach for a U10 (2005) boys team playing in the East Dunbartonshire league. We went from 'Fun 4's' to 'uncompetitive' 7-a-side last year and it's all pretty well organised. 7-a-side is all about development and letting the boys (and girls) play football without the pressure of winning though every kid on the pitch knows what the score is and some of them show a real desire to win and nothing puts me on a downer more than getting a hefty going over by some of the teams you come up against! I'm just a volunteer and I've done some coaching badges (early touches course) and I try my best but do hope that our boys progress to a 'better' team so they can get coached by someone who's better at it than me. I try my best but I just don't have enough time to become better at Coaching and feel like I'm doing our better kids a disservice but I can only try my best. Being in the North Glasgow area, we have the Euromillions funded "Weir Foundation" who are doing work on behalf of Partick Thistle and are named "Partick Thistle in the Community" and they basically go out and 'poach' the better boys and form a bit of a league select. The plan is for these boys to progress to pro-youth and then go to one of the SFA performance schools which are dotted throughout the country. You get picked up at 7am and head off to school. Before school starts you train in the morning, 3 hours at school, 2 hours training, 3 hours school, another hourse training and then off home at 6pm. It's a lot of football but this was Mark Wotte's idea (so I've been told) I know of a few boys who go to these schools and it's pretty cut-throat. If you go and after a year, you're not progressing then you get dropped. My cousin's 2 boys were at St Mirren pro-youth, the older one hit a bit of a rut and got booted out even though he's been a good performer with them for 4 years! The younger one has been approached about attending a Performance school but again, you could be heading off to a new school to make new friends, then after 6 months, you get told to leave and go to a new school where you need to make new friends again and it could really knock a young lads confidence both socially and football-wise too.
  14. There is an argument that if we do indeed fail to finish 2nd, do we even deserve to go up? I'm actually quite looking forward to the Play-off games, I think that they'll prove to be our most exciting games since the UEFA cup run in 2008.
  15. Well, folk were well warned that this was going to happen. No matter the merits of right and wrong, you sing the song, get caught then you're going to end up with a criminal record. I Like walking around naked, but if I do it outside, then I'm going to get into all sorts of bother.

  17. I agree with you, Andy. It's alleged that CG had eyes on getting to the Rangers board as fan rep for a while now, so for him to think that tweeting such a crass and unsavoury message is very poor judgement. I'm in a position of power at a pretty small organisation in my work and wouldn't tweet, Facebook anything which could be construed as offensive to anyone, for no other reason other than I don't want to upset any of our customers or any of their acquaintances so for a guy, often wheeled out as the face of the Rangers fans to be posting such an offensive image on social media is stupidity of the highest order. For the guys condoning this as it was ok for Hebdo magazine in Paris to do likewise, one is a satire magazine who insult everyone in the name of "free speech" (which doesn't actually exist anyway) and the other is supposed to be a Director of Scotland's predominant football Club. I'm assuming these same fans would be equally as defensive of CG should he deride the Orange Order or Calvinism/Presbyterian? I'm not so sure. If he stays, and I know it's very early days, then it wouldn't bode well for the current Board and the shambles which is Rangers would continue I fear. On the day when we should be talking about our new manager, everyone is talking about Chris Graham and that is damning on the latter.
  18. The new battle commences now. Will Ashley work with us or against us? I have my suspicions that the battle has only just begun...
  19. He should've been chased out of Rangers as soon as it was discovered that he had bet on Rangers results.
  20. That's the long and short of it. We train and recuperate a £9m keeper in Gordon then let him go to Celtc for nothing and sign up Simonsen. Bell gets injured and young Kelly goes "this is my chance", then we go and sign Lee Robinson (no harm to him) and Kelly goes further down the pecking order. The management look at players ages before ability or potential and we are now in a position that this summer, we will (BIG IF!) be going back up to the SPFL with a team averaging over 30 who are mostly out of contract.
  21. He may well go there but why would any young player want to stay at the club? We are a shambles on and off the park, Kelly has no chance of getting anywhere near the first team and would be best advised to get out for his own sake. Rumours that Hardie wants out too.
  22. This is a disaster and exactly what Ashley wants. He is always 2 steps ahead of us... Rangers will pay these boys wages and the next tranche of loan money will come in and be secured against Ibrox. Game, sent and match to Ashley. Good night to the Rangers we all loved.
  23. Unbelievable! Hopefully, finally, this could be good news though history permits me from celebrating too much as usually for us, there's a sting in the tail somewhere and we know that Ashley still has many onerous contracts over us and could still have a say on how this all pans out.
  24. When people look at the past for our present failure then it's always too easy to blame various peoples/politicians and the likes but it's more of a combination of things. In the 50's and 60's, our fair city had over 500,000 children, now we have 60,000 so the volume of children has seen quite a drastic reduction. Incidentally, I run boys team (8-9 year olds) and some of the boys still have the raw talent, but has someone pointed out above, most don't play football outwith training and games and some of them are overweight and that's being nice about it, but we've lost one boy to Motherwell and he's a bluenose so hopefully he goes on to make a name for himself but all in all, the SYFA need all coaches to undertake badges and all games are 'uncompetitive' insofar that results are not recorded but as coaches, we are tasked with making sure that the boys/girls enjoy themselves first and foremost.
