Sad times and amazing how far we have fallen. The blame for all this angst can be laid squarely at the door of Sir D Murray who, surprise surprise, started by buying our club with our money/borrowed funds. I'm not too sure how this Ashley thing will play out but I can only hope for the best whilst fearing the worst.

Strachan has Scotland playing some very decent football. As for McGhoo, he's a hit and miss manager. In all seriousness though, I hope that Strachan stays at Scotland for as long as possible.

Decent result to be fair.

Never really rated Strachan but he's got Scotland looking like a decent side. Nearly the whole side is made up of Anglo's these days, probably why we're not as poor as we once were.

As is the norm, I expect this feeling of "we're actually not that bad just now" to be consigned to my memory banks tonight. The Pol v Sco game in March was a Poland win all over it but for some heroic goal keeping, some stout defending and poor finishing from the Poles, but both teams have progressed since then. I was hugely impressed with Scotland on Sat albeit vs Georgia. 2 v 0 Poland, Brown sent off.

Watched Hardie play vs Celtic in the Glasgow cup final a few years back and he looked like a prospect. Great touch and ran the channels well. I think he scored one and Ogen scored the other two in a 3-2 victory.

And as if by magic, the type of guy mentioned in the OP is now throwing around thinly veiled religious insults. This place used to be a hotbed of passionate discourse, but for whatever reason, the past year has seen guys like Andy Steel disappear and replaced with the guys found in other classless forums. Think it's time for the site owners to weigh up what kind of talking shop you want here.

I'd disagree and say that the success of the Yes campaign was that inquisitive people did their own research and came up with the conclusion that we weren't 'Better Together', more like 'Better Apart'. I wasn't swayed by Salmond vs Darling, Sturgeon vs Davidson, the wholly unexplained 'social justice' tag and the Nats 'when all else fails shout FOODBANKS', I based my choice on who would be better running Scotland's economy and what Scotland's economy actually produces. Take Oil away and we still have a pretty good economy. When you understand that Westminster needs to ensure that London and the SE works efficiently in spite of the rest of the UK citizens, then you reach the conclusion that the one-size-fits-all doesn't suit Scotland, let alone, Liverpool, Newcastle, Cardiff or Belfast. When you look at all our Northern European neighbours and you see Norway, Luxembourg, Denmark, Ireland all with a richer GDP per head than Scotland, most without being punished with this wholly volatile commodity which is oil then you ask why? The UK as a political system is a busted flush. We've been technically insolvent since the 60's and carrying on in the UK just seems to me to be pointless. All we are all doing is propping up a political system that has long since became irrelevant to a lot of people. I'd say the Yes failed because they failed to appeal to the middle-class and a lot of the Yes propaganda read like something off an Oxfam advert. Back to the OP too, the whole Rangers 'off the field' problems has really pissed me off, make no bones about it. Since the Mail first reported that Rangers were being investigated for tax irregularities, it's been one thing after another. This coupled by a seemingly totally non self-aware Rangers support singing the most ridiculous songs, it just really disenfranchises me from wanting to associate myself with Rangers. I'll always be a Rangers fan, but as I get older and wiser, the notion of emotionally investing in wanting 11 men to score goals so I can then listen to the Union Order sing about the Shankhill, Bobby Sands or how they want to shove things up my arse, then you start to question if it's really worth it. I spent the weekend with my family going into town and took a walk up the Conic hills in Balmaha, whereas last season, I'd have spent a significant portion of one of those days watching Ian Black chopping down a mechanic and Lee McCulloch playing long balls up to Jon Daly, I'd have bought my son a Rangers strip and a meal deal thinking stupidly, that the money would go to Rangers. I'd then get the subway into the town and listen to some mutant talk about how much he hates Celtic. (BTW - the two guys in the George Square video, the one who doesn't take out his false tooth is who I'm talking about). It's all rather depressing. I'm a football man, I'm into my politics and economics. I just don't want to mix them all up.

DR tomorrow: Easdale interview & Ibrox naming rights sold for £1
Chibmark replied to True_Ger_1872's topic in Rangers Chat
I'm totally disenfranchised with the whole sorry mess. Rangers are now as toxic as the board, the fans are disjointed and attacking each other and we are a relic to our once glorious history. Will the last person to leave Ibrox, please turn out the lights. -
Agreed, mate. I've been banned about from FF 3 or 4 times, the last being a few years ago and I've decided to stay banned.

Ally McCoist and Rangers: Time for some home truths
Chibmark replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
McInnes did well at St J's, flopped at Bristol City but has Aberdeen where they "should" be in that they're challenging for cups and for 2nd place. McCall has worked wonders at M'Well, even though he's had to practically sign a new team every season. A black mark remains in that he had a tough time at Bradford but so have most people there of late. I like what Tommy Wright has done for St Johnstone though. He's got them punching way above their weight. -
McLeod has more goals in him than Ness did. Some of the goals McLeod has scored over the past 2 seasons hand been phenomenal considering he's been out injured for large swathes of those seasons. I just hope for his sake that he gets through it. I read that he was told last season that his career was nearly over and that he's taking it as a second chance so hopefully he uses it as motivation to work hard and aspire to as good as he possibly can be.

Born Under a Union Flag: Rangers, Britain and Scottish Independence
Chibmark replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
The UK electorate choose the Tories, hence they are in power. That is democracy, or at least British democracy and the much maligned first past the post system. 17% of the Scottish electorate voted Conservative, yet that Scottish populace only got 1 Tory MP. It's swings and roundabouts, my friend. -
Born Under a Union Flag: Rangers, Britain and Scottish Independence

I'm a Rangers supporter, but can categorically state that my football and politics do not mix. I find the whole debate to be highly frustrating, people being sidetracked on issues that are all hypothetical, though most political arguments are, to be fair. I am firmly in the undecided camp, leaning towards No, mostly because I don't subscribe to the left-wing economic policies being promoted by the Independence campaigners. I think that they are doing themselves out of possible crucial votes using this tactic as I certainly don't want to live in a socialist Scotland and I'm therefore less inclined to vote Yes when the SNP are nationalising a loss making Airport at our (taxpayers) expense to curry votes with the electorate, and lo and behold, Ryanair are now holding a gun to the ScotGov's head.... and surprise, surprise, last week, they fire the first bullet. The reasons I'm not 100% No is that only Stevie Wonder would fail to see the issues and problems that are prevalent in Scotland just now. We are still the sick man of Europe regarding life expectancy, we still have huge poverty levels, and I feel that the Union hasn't been kind to Scotland since the end of WW2 basically, but you could say that about everywhere apart from London and the SE and we are amongst the poorest people in the British Isles. Even Ireland, with all their economic issues, are still richer than Scotland even though they don't have our resources, but they adopted policies which created wealth, attracted the big Corporations and their economy is growing again. Lastly though, I like being British and I like being Scottish, so I am conflicted. My dad is a staunch nationalist, whereas my mother comes from an Orange family, my wife is a Catholic and both of them are 100% No's. My 8yo son says that I should vote No, because he likes TeamGB at the Olympics. -
Has the OP ever said anything complimentary about Rangers? Genuine question.

Gutted for him. Probably the first world cup in a while that no Rangers player has been involved in. Would've gave us a wee interest in the Honduras games.

No contest between Mols or Negri. Mols was far better then Negri, who had a good half season then went awol. Mols is a legend and Negri, albeit decent, is not a patch on Mols.
