  1. went to the Dortmund v Bayern final with my son at Wembley, think Wembley is a fantastic stadium, don't think there is anywhere in the ground where you don't feel close to the action, which is some going in a 85k capacity, which is what I think it is, with a great atmosphere. also been to Nou Camp and Bernabeu and love both grounds. First time I went to Nou camp could have got splinters up yer jacksy if you'd sat on the seats but they've upgraded that. Was in their Museum during their centenary year and they had a little display for every year of their existence and 72 still stated that our fans were 'hooligans' some things will never be forgotten or truly reflected.
  2. think he's quite funny, tells a good story, without caring who he supports. definitely tongue in cheek.
  3. there is no doubt Templeton is a gifted footballer, who absolutely thrives on confidence, which comes, as it does for all players, with fitness and game time. It is a shame to hear he is injured for tomorrow, because like many Gers players it is game time he needs. Naismith was exactly the same, his best games for Rangers came when he had an extended run in the team and you saw his confidence grow. The difference for me between Templeton and Naismith is that there are more tricks and skill with Templeton.
  4. great thread, only made disappointing by the thought of how McCabe and Ness could have progressed, like McLeod, if they'd remained at Ibrox. Hope the two of them look at Lewis and think of what could have been and that we use that as an example of what could happen to our younger prospective talents who may think about leaving for some weaker English championship or div 1 team, you're in better hands and have better prospects staying where you are.
  5. not smart enough to work out how much the Easdales stake is now worth, but if he has 23% of the share portfolio then it seems to me to be multiple millions. I know his bus business is successful but does he really have enough cash to purchase all these shares or are other unnamed individuals having their share allocation announced in his name?
  6. a lot of good comments here on both sides of this debate, however we've explored a few options to try and get out of the Scottish league, none of which have come anywhere near fruition. It is very unlikely and the naked truth is that to qualify for the CL in the future we're going to have to beat them to win the league title. despite everything that has been said I look forward to those matches, but I do agree that if it was a diet of Man U, Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea on a weekly basis then I'm sure I'd get over not playing them 4 x a season, but the reality is that this will be the main fixture to look forward to, from a league trophy and CL qualification perspective, for our short to medium term future.
  7. great letter D'A. Hope it stirs DK's sense of willingness to write his name in to our incredible history.
  8. Hildy, I agree with the vast majority of your post; we love to see Rangers win, whatever division we're playing in, but the reality is that there are two things remaining in this season that are of real interest: 1)- can we go through the whole league season, winning every game and therefore create a world record for the most league games, in a season, won. 2)- can we go all the way in SC. Other than that it is not competition for us, but not quite inedible.
  9. Thanks, Pete understand what you're saying, but there is no one in Scotland to rival septic other than Rangers, so to be the best in our country we need to beat them and that is, obviously, a large part of the fixture. No one, in the last decade or two has been top of the SPL other than Rangers or them, therefore that is the biggest game. Even in the days of perhaps Aberdeen or Dundee Utd pre-eminence it was still the number one game for fans, they are our biggest rivals. When Man U line up against Liverpool, possibly next week, will that rivalry be lessened because neither of them are top of the league? No, in fact I would say increased, because of their relative positions and things like Ferguson's auto-biography.
  10. but if they remain in Scotland, where they currently ply their footballing trade? We have rivalry with Aberdeen, little with Well. Apologies, missing what I'm seeing wrong.
  11. your response Doc has the timescales of fact within your post; ie we have to wait two years until we, without a Cup draw, play septic again. However a number of posters on this thread state that they would be happy if we never played them again. That to me is to fear them, it is to put them on a pedestal, whatever you think of their moronic fans, we need to play that team to prove we are back to our position as the kings of Scottish football, which should be our aspiration. I've been to, what was Parkhead, I've been through the JG management years, I've seen us whipped by them, but there is nothing sweeter than when we beat them and I look forward to those fixtures again, I look forward to that fantastic feeling, that roof lifting, euphoric, experience of us scoring a winner against them. Anyone who has been present for that cannot deny that they want to feel it again.
  12. it's absolutely spot on, we, presently, want to go through this season undefeated in div 1, to just get closer to the SPL, where, unless something miraculous happens, our biggest challenges will be playing septic 4 times a season. The biggest games you can get in Scotland. the most excitement we get all season, playing septic. as an earlier poster said if you win it is the greatest feeling, if we lose it is massively the other way, but no one involved in sport competes in the certainty that they're going to win every time, but we compete because there is a chance you can win. so to state that we shouldn't compete because we may lose is to be a loser, because we want to be back competing at that level. I am gagging for that feeling of anticipation, that level of excitement, because whatever you say waking up to Rangers v Forfar on a Saturday/Sunday is not quite the same as Rangers v them, not remotely close. some of you are living in a deluded state if you think that life is better without them, whatever crepe levels their fans are dropping to; until we're angelic in our behaviour we shouldn't thrown anything larger than grains of sand.
  13. is this thread an opportunity to talk about football and experiences of games against septic, which there must be many, many good stories or to go off topic and talk about average ages or to go the same way as the majority of the top 10 topic headlines and talk about our board and financial issues? why not talk about something football related for a change?
  14. was talking recently to my brother and reliving genuine New Years Day games, a Hogmanay party a few hours sleep, a taxi to Ibrox and a mid-day kick off, to avoid us having too much to drink, and watching the game. the anticipation, the feeling in the stomach, the excitement, the walk to the ground, the atmosphere inside the ground (Ibrox or septic park) it is unsurpassed, maybe some CL games are equivalent, but the major difference is that every game against them is guaranteed that atmosphere CL games are not, I loved them and if I am lucky enough to steal, bribe or have a mate who can get me a golden ticket, for the next one, it will be the best atmosphere of any game against them, I think, in our history. bring it on, at Ibrox in the cup.
  15. Yes agree Gribz that their are a large number of younger players around, however in key areas, central defence- Ferdinand and Vidic are getting on and have shown their lack of pace is a frailty this season. Carrick is on the slide, so they lack someone to hold the midfield and play the ball out from the defensive midfield position, there is also a lack of pace in the midfield and defence, generally. maybe 3 decent signings in January will give them a CL chance, however all of the top teams in the EPL will lose more games than the norm this season so nothing is near to finishing yet.
  16. was it a Freudian slip in the we owe a 'debt of gratitude' to Stockbridge, as opposed to the massive ledger debt the Club has incurred with him as the financial rudder.
  17. knew Moyes as a boy, played football with him, a family of Rangers fans. He consistently did a good job at Everton on a much smaller budget than he has now, he's served his time with smaller clubs. he inherited an ageing squad and players like Cleverly have failed to deliver. There is huge pressure in the UK's biggest footballing job and he does need to sign several players during the January window to ensure a CL place. I hope and believe he will come good and wish him success, no matter which teams he previously played for.
  18. at least Nig wasn't unhappy for long

    The Sinbin

think it is a great idea, it would stop a lot of petty fouling during the match, it would be the equivalent of a yellow, twice your off. why not have to bring on the reserve goalie at the expense of an outfield player for 10 mins? giving someone ten minutes in the bin for simulation, bring it on? the guys that dive have a huge amount to answer for, you get it in kids footie now, because you see it on the telly and if we sent them off for 10mins then we'd start to see an end to it. if it was the equivalent of a yellow and goes towards a suspension then people wouldn't be looking for 10 mins off if they were 4-0 up, not even the Joey barton's of this world are that dumb.
  20. I don't mind Law and Black in the middle of the park, think they complement one another and McLeod, being quality, can play anywhere in the midfield and links up very well with Wallace. I've read that Crawford displays well in training but I've not seen him perform well for Rangers, would love to see it happen, but not witnessed it yet. I've definitely seen some good flashes from Peralta but agree he is at best, currently, a substitute. Worth giving Aird a run out right, but he needs to work harder in tucking in and working back when we or he loses the ball. That is the hard graft for young players, he doesn't display that yet. Jig is good enough to get us to the end of the season and that guys appetite, experience, given his age, works for us in div 1, plus his goal tally as well. Too many Jig knockers, he puts it in for us.
  21. good to know that it isn't only septic fans who are obsessed by the Rangers, even within div 1. they seem to be more worried about our future than many Rangers fans.
  22. I agree, it isn't annoyance, but it is a deliberately chosen word to inflame the views of our pro-board fans against those who wish for change, therefore you have to question the methods and motivations of Media House. It is provocative and in poor taste, compounded by a board that seem to be happy for this type of behaviour to continue. Obviously no thought given to the impact created involving all Rangers fans. A more conciliatory approach would have had a better effect.
  23. this, unfortunately, is going to rumble a good deal longer than the AGM/EGM next month.
  24. a reasonably sized minority to get these banners in and to hold them up. The main point, as it is with our own core of bigoted song singers, what has it got to do with football? Nothing, then leave it at home and just go and support your football team, end of.
  25. One of the many upsetting things about these scumbags is that they use the word Army in their name, when in fact they're a guerrilla force, scared to show their face, praying on easy targets, killing innocent people, supported by naïve and gullible individuals.
