  1. As ever you miss the point. You criticised others for their apparent lack of knowledge on Rangers yet don't apply the same standards to Somers.

I don't miss any point because there isn't one, Somers has never claimed to be a Rangers man he was appointed to do a job maybe you should just let him get on with it, JM had no problem with him.

I didn't criticise others I quite rightly criticised Paul Murray for his lack of historical knowledge.

  2. Yes, because that's the most important element of all this. Somers claims not to have even heard of Charles Green until four weeks ago so I'm surprised you're not shouting for his head.

I have no reason to disbelieve him should I have, I also see the article on Paul Murray's past failures is spreading like wildfire not good for the requisitioners along with JM stepping away.

  3. You understand that the position of Chairman of Rangers carries with it some responsibility, yes? You might have read his words on a fan's messageboard but that doesn't mean that's the type of language he should use.

I'm not sure what depresses me most, that the Chairman of our club behaves this way or that some in our support think it is okay.

It depresses me greatly when people put themselves forward as saviours who don't even know who brought Souness Woods and Butcher to Rangers.

  4. Whether or not they are interested in the politics most supporters want a Chairman that will act with a bit of dignity and not make stupid statements like this. He can make the his points without resorting to childish language.

I would think the chairman will be the best judge of the terms he uses to describe those causing unrest.

  5. Like a large section of the support?

Depends what you equate to be a large section, most fans don't have a clue as to the politics nor are they really interested for better or worse, I would suggest the paucity of support for the recent demos goes someway to authenticating that view, I was thinking more of activists on the requisitioner side..

  6. What I am not clear about is who approached Somers, with a view to his becoming our chairman? Who interviewed him? Who decided that he was the most suitable candidate? I may be unfair but when he was appointed it was like a political party selecting some person, who knew little about the constituency and shoeing in that person to be their candidate in a winnable seat. Sure, there are good points in his statement but I just find it hard to believe that someone in their seventies, residing down in Sussex and with a seemingly average career record is likely to provide the leadership that is required to take our club forward.

I cannot vouch for the accuracy but I have heard that Stockbridge wields more power than people think, as for the statement it seems to have upset all the right people as far as the delivery is concerned.

  7. With reference to the "H" word, as someone else pointed out the earls are the original huns, this title was bestowed upon them for their support of adolf during the second world war, indeed they had the mhankdome closed for a month in 1940/41 as punishment for rioting at Ibrox and chanting nazi slogans.

I well remember singing go home ya huns go home in their direction in the 60's, tell a lie often enough and it becomes gospel as their transference of hun only proves too well.

  8. So you didn't read the OP's list: "Europe's longest winning league runs" ;)

Funnily enough, the Yahoos may only claim the longest unbeaten British run, as Porto is well ahead.

The longest unbeaten runs in European football

If I remember correctly, one of our longest unbeaten runs was during that sensational 1992/93 season, when we were unbeaten for 44 games, including CL.

Strangely enough I did, it started of by referring to unbeaten runs and uefa.

  9. Which records? They cannot add titles, as long as these were nationwide titles. Hence, our League Titles during the WWII are not included.

It depends on whether the WWI leagues were actually carried out though.

2nd world war goals are included in celtic scoring records, however this thread is about games unbeaten not anything else from what I can see.

  10. No, I think it does indeed matter what the fans think. Ultimately we may be powerless but that shouldn't make our opinion any less worthy or valid.

You spoke about certain virtues and there's no doubt they are missing from some club employees. That's well worth highlighting - more so when we consider the constitution the reqs released the other day.

The only people who think what the fans think matters are the fans, in the real world the real power brokers know they have a captive customer base, they are not going to invest money and have someone else tell them how that investment is going to be utilised hence ring fencing is a fanciful dream.

We see ourselves as what we are fans the corporate people see us as customers, captive ones and I don't see anything that is going to change the pecking order, unless of course people intend to commit suicide by boycotting the one innocent party, that being Rangers FC.

  11. Sorry to be a pedant, The longest unbeaten League run ever is 62 games between 1915-17 - a record held by celtic, Morton also went 25 wins in 63/64.

Edited to add; As can be seen in the case of celtic these are wartime years, I don't understand why celtic can add war time years to their records and we don't.
