  1. I alog with others in TBO did sing flower of scotland on saturday so yes sometimes we do even if it is oly to get at the sheep as for who you vote for that is you're concern . Where do i speak for 52'000 people??????

As for the "sorry "union" you speak of i personally will take my chances with it as without it we as a country will have nothing as we do not actually have a product we make or sell we also have no police/army/navy/coastgaurd/airforce/health service.to name but a few so exactly haow are we going to fund all this

...and i quote "so we as a support .... " - sounds like you are speaking for everyone there!! :D

As for the your second paragraph, well, that's straying off-topic, but don't be so down on your own nation's ability to actually fend for ourselves, for christ's sake we Scots gave the modern world many of the great things it has!!

  2. I had an argument/discussion yeaterday with a Jambo, he asked me why Rangers fans flew the UF, and of course i said why not after all we are Britsh,he said i'm not i'm Scottish, i said well i'm Scottish but also like being British, his reply was, but people find the UF offensive so it should be banned, prick, i said it's a sad day when you get told to pull down the UF in Britain :ffs: , another guy just jumping on the band wagon and wanting the Rangers fans punished for flying a flag

There was a clear pic in the Daily Retard earlier in the season when Hearts were in Europe (must have been very early in the season! :D ) and it was a pic of a good handful of Jambo's standing behind, lo and behold, a Union Jack!!!

Can't remember them being slated for it though!!

  3. once we have eradicated effteepee etc, go after things like the union flag and GSTQ/RB. Once the media and the MOPES get a hold of it, UEFA will come trotting behind them and demm these as 'offensive'.

Well, to an extent they already are, aren't they! I can see where you are coming from, and as i have said, although it isn't my personal preference, i have no probs with others flying a UJ ... i just think that sometimes the manner in which certain fans act does attract the wrong kind of people or image to our club

... and i agree about Flower of Scotland, i was only using it as an example ... it's a backward wee song and i'd much rather have something more uplifting as a Scottish national anthem

What annoys me about the current situation is that we are just an easy target ... much as the songs annoy me, do we really compare to pigs heads and oranges in spain, flares and fireworks in italy, or just downright hell in Turkey?

Nope, of course we dont! :(

  4. Interesting debate. However what chance have we got of iradicating the problems when our own support is divided on issued - and thats not including the effteepee brigade.

Well, this one did get out of hand a bit, but i don't quite agree on what you have said above ... i think you will find that the vast majority of people will agree that we need to rid the club of the offensive chants in question.

I may have made my points about stuff like Rule Britannia and GSTQ and they have been misinterpreted, but i've always said that i have no issues with anyone wishing to fly a union flag, or sing GSTQ, it's just my personal preference that we move away from this kind of image, and that is all! In fact, i'd defend to the death the right of any Gers fan to fly a Union flag whilst no one in Scotland seems to object about the foreign flag across the city!!! As i have already said elsewhere, there are a lot of ignorant people in this country, you only have to look at our tabloid press who will defend the union on the front page, but slate the 'english loving' Gers fans on their back pages to see what we are up against, and that's before you look at away fans with the Lion Rampant (the royal standard of Scotland!!) booing GSTQ!!!

It is just my personal belief that certain aspects of this 'Britishness' (rightly or wrongly in this PC world!) attracts a certain kind of fan that we could do without, ye know, the 'red hand' salute type of person, the BNP trash peddling person, etc, etc!! The English international support has taken leaps and bounds forward in the last few years, and if we could do the same where people can be proud to be British, Scottish, or whatever at Ibrox, without the nasty side attached, then it would be ok with me  ... but as someone already said earlier, you would get a doing for singing Flower of Scotland at Ibrox, and i've seen people getting abuse for wearing a Scotland top before, and this kind of behaviour disgusts me ... these are the type of fans dishing out abuse of that kind, that we could do with removing! :sigh:

There ... i've had my say, and you can discuss it as you wish ... i felt this thread had left me looking bad (again!!) and i felt i had to correct things!

  5. Sorry friend but like it or lump it Scotland is part of Britain so we as a support will continue to sing Rule Britania and GSTQ

You speak for 52,000 people now, do you? I'm sorry, but i'll be voting to end this sorry Union in May, so you don't speak for me matey!!!

I go to watch football anyway, not sing about politics and religion, and as Craig says, why not sing a Scottish song, doesn't make you any less British, does it? I cringe when i hear the idiots amongst our support booing Scottish songs! :sigh:

  6. A lot of good points, but i'm gonna disagree on a couple

Firstly, no no no and god no ... please don't ever let Donald Findlay anywhere near our club again!

    and

Secondly ... whilst i agree that we need to eradicate the 'banned' songs, i do feel that we need to move on altogether and start to phase out some other non-football related songs too, because i feel that if we cling to them, then the idiots that are currently ruining our club will just continue to hang around our club ... as i said in another thread, i walk up towards Ibrox on Saturday and i see BNP trash being peddled ... i have absolutely no doubts that it is our rule Britannia, etc, image that attracts this kind of idiot, and always will unless we move on!!

  7. Bella Emberg ...... im suprised certain members didn't ask for her in the totty thread!!!! :D

If you take the points from when walter joined us, i think we've taken more than the mhanks, haven't we?

  8. Another good article, Frankie

Do you think that there is a link between the continued singing of some, and the fact that our club NEVER defends it's own fans? Ok, let's be honest, and say that there are some idiots out there who will never stop until they are removed from the stadium, but i feel there may be others out there who see this as a protest against how poorly our club defends itself, and how we are portrayed in the press, etc ..... yep, it's a silly form of protest, but i still believe some people think like that

If we were stronger at defending our club, would we help the cause? Personally, i would say yes

I'd like also to compare two differing - but actually quite similar - situations:

The smoking ban came in around a year ago .... people just nipped off to the toilets to have a smoke. The stewards and cops just paid lip service to the ban, and i've been getting fed up for over a year of having to go into the toilets that resemble a smoke hut! However, on Saturday, it was clear that they do seem to have stepped up the action ... stewards were hanging around more, and i saw a few people getting nicked by the cops and getting their name taken. They had talked about taking season tickets from people too, and you can bet that if they do that with a handful of people then the number of people willing to risk it for a fag at half-time will reduce quickly, and dramatically. Ok, it won't go away totally, but it then makes it so much easier to catch the brain dead people that don't take a hint

Will it be a coincidence if this action means less people smoking in the toilet? Of course it wont, it will be the result of direct action taken by the club - you can talk and broadcast as many tannoy messages as you want, but it won't be enough. We need proper direct action from the club, and we need it now, and i'm talking about people being ** dragged kicking and screaming from their seats and having their seasons removed ... if we did this, watch just how quickly the problem will start to go away

Direct action and solve the problem, or sit back and watch us die ... your choice?

** Of course, that would mean common sense ... we need a clear outline of what is right and wrong and not end up with some jumped up wee security guy dragging someone out cos they have a UJ on display

  9. Had the misfortune of getting a read at this 'journalists' column today again, and his creepy backtracking whilst trying to put the blame onto others was quite sickening, so Mr Traynor, i hope you are reading this

Firstly, don't twist your own words .... we all saw what you wrote in black and white .... trying to put the blame onto others is quite pathetic

Secondly, where do you get the idea that you haven't seen anyone condemning the singing? If you had actually read any of these 'diseased' websites (as you call them!) you would have seen that the VAST MAJORITY of people here have condemned the idiots ..... so why do you say that no one has?

Thirdly, these 'diseased' websites exist to give us a fair point of view and let us have our say, rather than getting ignored or twisted in the 'free' press that we have in this country!! What i don't get about your paper is the strange fact that on the front pages they continually slate nationalism and independence, stating that the UK should remain together, but on the back pages you would be slating any gers fan who wishes to carry a union flag or sing GSTQ?

Double standards? well, of course it is!!

  10. Haven't seen the video, but Rangers need to take RAPID action on this (so we're fucked then, eh? :( ) and identify anyone who can be clearly made out to be singing this part of the song, and BAN THEM FOR LIFE! That way, it would send a clear message to UEFA that we are still doing the right thing, after all i'm sure UEFA didn't expect this issue to go away in a season?

If we do get banned from Europe though, i won't set foot in Ibrox stadium again, my support for the club will be over, as let's face it, the idiots have won, and all we will be left with is people like Loyal and Blue who's posts on this thread have had me shaking my head .... some people just don't get it! :(

i believe we should get rid of the british/english element out of ibrox, flags, banners, tops, songs etc. no doubt i'll get flamed for this. however that's how i feel at this moment in time.

You are 100% SPOT ON! This whole Rule Britannia image of ours (which is forced down on us by the club in my opinion!!) leads to an image of english soccer casuals from over a decade ago ...... what these IDIOTS don't seem to realise is that even the English support has moved on .... if you are trying to empathise with them, then this isn't the way to do it! I walked past people selling BNP rags, etc, on my way to Ibrox at the weekend, and our image ATTRACTS this kind of deadbeat like a shite does flies! Lose this image now, or lose people like me forever

  11. Yet again, we need strong leadership from the top to let us know exactly where the club stands and where we as fans stand. It might also be time for the club to lay down the law as yet again, we've pissed away a chance to police a problem ourself, so can we really complain about any actions against us which come next?

What chance is there of that though? Since the smoking ban came in, i've complained about the amount of people smoking in the toilets (it's like a frigging sauna!!) but what happens? .......... nothing! The police don't care, the stewards don't care, and when i wrote to the club, the reply was more concerned that my complaint may not be genuine as it came from an 'alias' email address (actually, it was my first initial second name @yahoo.co.uk  ) I heard during the recent no smoking day (Wednesday?) that the club was going to start taking serious action .... but who really believes that?

If they can't sort out something as simple as a smoking ban, how will they ever manage to stop the singing? :sigh:

  12. Sorry mate, they are offended by our very existance (sp) and I for one, want nothing to do with them.

Can you see them supporting us in our claims that they hired an IRA terrorist to paint their banners was covered up by the press?

I would end up like NBM a one-sided Anti-Rangers pile of steaming manure.

    Cammy F

I'm with Cammy on this one!!

Yes, maybe in an ideal world you could do that, but as Cammy says, all we ever end up with in this country is one sided rubbish like NBM! It would end up Rangers backing up Celtic, but never the other way around, and i can do without it!

  13. The Billy Boys got big licks as did many other od favourites.

What was really strange was at the end when our fans were being kept in was the playing of 'Simply The Best' loudly over the tannoy which the DJ conveniently quietened down at the exact time to allow the Bears to add in *** and the IRA which they loudly did.

I thought this stunk of a set up and I dont think we will hear the end of it.

Set up or not, these people who continue to defy the ban on certain songs UEFA put on us (regardless of whether you think it's fair or not) are complete and utter fuckwits!!

As i said on another thread, let's not paint an angelic picture of our support, and well well well ... looks like some of these knuckle draggers have proved me right! It is tossers like these that will lead to me not renewing my season ticket next year ... how thick can some people get!

Also ....... can i just add .... WHO FUCKING CARES if the away supporters have irish flags / celtic tops, etc? .... let them look fucking stupid if they want, but if we continue to bite, we are out of europe ... in fact, i wouldn't be surprised if UEFA made an example of us and chucked us out! How the hell does that help our club, already struggling by missing out on the CL this year?

Sorry about the rant, but some of these 'fans' need booted out and stopped from following Rangers ANYWHERE!!!

  14. No-one is suggesting our support are angels. However, the vast majority are and to try and infer they deserved to beaten and joke about it is reprehensible.

I'm not backing Traynor, i think he is scum .... but i do think we need to have a balanced view

Let the RST and the vast majority of decent fans stand up for our rights ... but let's also accept that we do have some less desirable people that we could do without!! (what the media seem to forget is that every other club in the land has that very same issue!!!)

  15. Traynor is an arse ... and he should be taken to task for his comments

However, let's not get into a rut where we think our fans are little angels and are being persecuted for everything .... there are some real fucking arseholes who follow (and let down!) our club wherever we go .... we need a balanced approach!!
