  1. Even if this ends well, we could still be years away from all matters being resolved, and so much damage will have been done to Rangers that a full recovery may not happen. If there are guilty parties here who are convicted of wrongdoing, Rangers and/or the Rangers support should consider instigating lawsuits against those who have been proven to have acted illegally. The RFFF may have a part to play in this.
  2. Just today I saw an article in the Telegraph about Aberdeen's fortunate windfall, and it mentioned "Rangers 2" eventually returning to the top tier: 'the eventual return of Rangers 2 to the top flight' The liquidation process has been enormously damaging.
  3. So even if the liquidation process occurred as a result of a criminal takeover, it will eventually conclude and the oldco will cease to exist?
  4. I don't think we can make that assumption. I would like to think so, but the situation is so messy, it's difficult to be sure of anything.
  5. It's a complicated situation, but if oldco was taken out of liquidation and an illegal takeover confirmed, if somehow the club fell under the governance of oldco again, the HMRC ongoing appeal, if won, could have greater consequences than has been generally anticipated. I'm not stating facts here - just speculating on the various possibilities that could come into play.
  6. Is it possible then that liquidation will not be completed and that the oldco might still have a part to play in the club's future?
  7. At Rangers, we start to judge people after they have turned up, which is too late if it turns out that we don't like them. We can't judge people beforehand because we often don't know who potential buyers for the club are going to be - or even if it is up for sale - and an owner's plans for the club can be kept secret indefinitely because custodians are under no obligation to go public with them. Unfortunately, some of our fans have a slavish devotion to the club which they mistakenly believe is loyalty. They accept the word from within Ibrox as though it was written on tablets of stone. This effectively means that anyone who succeeds in buying the club is given an automatic infallibility. What the club says - every utterance - is correct: always. Anyone questioning or doubting the club is disloyal and not a 'real' Rangers fan. What we have then is a dream scenario for any buyer. A generous degree of loyalty is awarded to him just for turning up. He bought the club therefore he must be good news, and if that buyer is someone like Mike Ashley, who is noted for being excessively rich and very successful, he is welcomed with open arms and closed minds. Fortunately, a growing number of fans realise that the general wellbeing of the club cannot be left to chance. They are prepared to look hard at detail and be constructively critical. Regrettably, their numbers, though greater than ever before, are not quite enough to tip the club into revolution, and that's what Rangers needs now.
  8. Just one of the reasons why this fan board is useless. Someone from the club sits in on every fan board meeting. If a fan board member says the 'wrong' thing - perhaps something vitally important that is perceived to be critical of the club and/or club personnel - he or she will know that the club may decide to instigate a parting of the ways. This action against BH is effectively a warning to the rest - don't overstep the mark. Who needs a fan board like this?
  9. What if two or three people resign suddenly? Are the rest supposed to cover their work too? The process has to have a fallback position when resignations occur - or when the club sacks someone without warning or explanation.
  10. Whoever finished second shouldn't be given the place. What has happened isn't democratic but neither would this be. I'm wondering why they are ducking another election. It's bizarre, but then bizarre is normal for this lot.
  11. That's a fascinating post, and a good one, too. I frequently argue that Rangers is the same club that it always was, and of course it is, but the real question we all need to ask now is the question you have been asking yourself: is it my club? It might legally be the same club, but it has changed so much that it has ceased to feel like our club and that's where we each have to personalise it. To be brutally honest, it doesn't feel much like my club any more but I am still onside with it because of its past and what I hope its future will be. The present is such an extended period of misery that it is the future we have to cling to, but as a better tomorrow seems so far away, it is entirely understandable that people will just pack the whole thing in. It's hard to feel much affection for Rangers as things are. It really is.
  12. Resignations should follow after this sordid little episode. This bastard creation of a dubious regime is about as democratic as North Korea and about as transparent as a swamp. Telling tales to teacher followed by an expulsion without proper explanation: unacceptable - completely unacceptable. Surely there will be a resignation or three over this, or will a prominent member's sudden disappearance pass with barely a murmur? Let's see what happens next. Reaction or no reaction? Acceptance or rebellion? Explanation or silence? The deeply flawed club of ours is an embarrassment to itself - and to us.
  13. By all accounts, Ashley hasn't spoken to the manager either. If he has no plans to include the manager in his plans, he'll not likely have much to say to us.
  14. If they agree with Dundee United, all hell will break loose. This should have been resolved quickly. No good is served by dragging this out.
  15. 'You've only got two years of history'. Those wondering why the Livingston programme issue is a big deal, take note of the above. The lie is gradually becoming settled in Scottish football that Rangers is a new club. If we don't challenge those who say these things, we'll get everything that we deserve.
  16. This should be a reminder for those who need reminding that Ashley is lending money to Rangers - not gifting it. This idea that Ashley has £50m in loose change to donate to the club is far-fetched. It's a loan, five minutes after the other loan. Rangers could be on the way to becoming so loaded with debt that it eventually becomes an unmanageable burden.
  17. I don't know what kind of owner Kennedy would have been but I don't believe Souness and Smith running the football operation would have been a good thing. That's not to say that I'm happy with things as they are - I'm not - but the club needs to move on from old faces and old ways and embrace a more enlightened way. Under Smith and Souness, that would not have happened. Smith and Souness are a couple of old stagers who are aggrieved that the Rangers they knew is almost unrecognisable. We are all sorry that it has come to this, but it happened because too many people who should have known better naively believed that it could not. The future of Rangers, whatever it is, should be Smith-free and Souness-free - no matter who owns the club.
  18. Chris will hopefully be an asset to the RST, and to the Rangers family.
  19. Now this is what a responsible fan group should be doing. Let's just hope that this letter achieves a positive outcome. Well done, RST.
  20. It seems reasonable to assume that the number who voted in these elections is extremely low. We don't know the numbers yet but it seems that some of the candidates do. If they know that these numbers are embarrassingly low, isn't it incredible that, with this knowledge, a suggestion was made that it should have communication with the club while certain existing fan groups, which have more members who consciously made a decision to join up, should not?
  21. The club should not have anyone inside the meeting. It can choose to have someone on hand who may or may not be called on, but no-one from the club should have the absolute right to attend these meetings.
  22. So the club introduces a fan group, it 'defaults' fans who bought season tickets into it; it invites applications for candidates which are fully scrutinised and vetted, it holds elections for a fan board and then not only does it not publish the results in full, it fails to give an elected member of said fan board a satisfactory response after two requests?
  23. This issue doesn't require another meeting. An email request to the relevant person at the club should do the trick. It's a simple question and someone already has the answer.
